US wants Israel to put Sheeba Farms on the table

The US is not pressing Israel on the issue, but is discussing with Jerusalem when the right time would be to put it on the table, the Post has learned. The concern in both Washington and Jerusalem is that a willingness to talk about this not be interpreted as a victory for Hizbullah. Lebanese PM yesterday in Rome had the cheek to put the blame of everything in Lebanon on Israel. Either he is stupid or scared to point at Hezbollah. The Sheba farms were part of Syria. The Lebanese prisoners in Israeli jails he talked about are Hezbollah terrorists who commited terror attacks in Israel. His stating that peace can only come after all the points listed in the Saudi plan of Beirut have been accepted by Israel, means that he wants Hezbollah to continue attacking Israel and what he is after is getting aid from the donors to fill the pockets of the government.

Lebanese Prime Minister Fuad Siniora is not stupid, so that leaves him fearful of Hezbollah, and likely a lot of that fear is for his own political hide.
It has been reported, if not acknowledged that Hebollah has been like a government within the government of Lebanon.
Hezbollah still enjoys considerable support amongst the Lebanese and this war appears to be driving even more Lebanese into Hezbollah’s corner. P.M. Siniora would doubtless be mindful of that fact.
P.M. Siniora may well harbour a desire to rid his country of Hezbollah, but until that happens, his comments are not going to assign blame to Hezbollah, but rather to Israel’s war effort that is inflicting considerable damage on Lebanon.
Further, Siniora is parroting the false excuses of Hezbollah for their war, being Lebanese prisoners in Israeli jails and the demand for return of the Shebba Farm area to Lebanon. He is smart enough to know better, but I suspect that he is also smart enough to know that he is in danger, even personally should he counter the lies of Hezbollah on the matter.
That America would give Lebanon’s demand for return of the Shebba Farms area any credence at all, is likely evidence, not of American wavering support for Israel, but American efforts to try to reach a consensus with Europe in terms of conditions for a cease fire, which efforts fell flat in Rome.
Just as it was reported that Olmert after taking a number of Rice’s calls telling him Israel had to show restraint, told Rice to back off, Olmert should make clear that the Shebba Farms matter is off the table and not to bother him with it again.

dont u wonder y not ALL countries (european committee) didn’t wanna put hizbullah on the terrorsit list…well there is a pretty darn good reason for it…u dont have everyone by the balls like u have the US and ur propaganda doesnt work on everyone….the arabs were willing to live next to u according to what the UN ORIGINALLY had given as lands but….NOOOOO u have to bring in 100 k jewish refugees a year take lands that are not urs and build ur settlements and kick palis out of their homes or just make them live in total misery!!!! what do u wanna do now huh??? have lebanese fight with each other and kill each other so that u can push the palis in lebanon and u take all of PALESTINE!!!!
