You can’t hug your child with sidearms
I saw this picture (from this item) a few days ago and I wondered.
AbbaGav in Arm Your Youth, Complain When They’re Killed, though explained my disquiet.
Seriously, it seems I might be even more against the killing of 15 year old Palestinian kids than the Palestinian weapon merchants are. After all, I’m not sticking guns in kids’ hands — on camera — and pointing the way to enemy soldiers.
Of course the violence gets reinforced any number of ways.
For example when gunmen take over the Education Ministry what does that say? Usually these gunmen take over police stations where they go for jobs. Do these guys figure that they’re going to get teaching jobs?
And then the Honorable Mariam Farhatis who sits in Parliament. No doubt her three martyred sons are her main qualification for office. (An item that Reuters omitted from its report.) And what message does that send to society?
Technorati tags: Mariam Farhatis, Fatah gunmen.
