Saddam’s Secrets

By Melanie Phillips

In London yesterday, I met General Georges Sada. An Iraqi Christian, he was Air Vice Marshal in Saddam’s Iraq and, despite being an Assyrian and not a member of the Ba’ath party, was by his own account a close adviser to Saddam and was very much at the heart of the action during Saddam’s regime. Somehow he survived and became, among other things, the President of the National Presbyterian Church in Baghdad and head of the Iraqi branch of the Centre for Peace and Reconciliation, whose headquarters are based at Coventry Cathedral and whose bishop bestowed upon him the Prize for International Peace and Reconciliation.

[..]
In April 2004, a group of al Qaeda terrorists was caught in Jordan with 20 tons of Sarin gas. When Sada heard of this, he says, his blood ran cold. There was only one place which was capable of producing 20 tons of Sarin: Saddam’s Iraq. To his horror, he says, he realised at that moment that Saddam’s WMD had got into the hands of al Qaeda.

Earlier this year, Sada was interrogated about his claims by the American House Intelligence committee, to whom he gave the names of the Iraqi pilots. Subsequently, he says, the Committee went to Iraq and spoke to the pilots. The result, he says, is that a major American investigative and diplomatic effort is now under way to finally locate the missing WMD.

But in Britain, I say, people now firmly believe that there were no WMD and that we were taken to war on a lie. Sada looks utterly flabbergasted. ‘How can they possibly think that?’ he asks in bewilderment and anger, and puts his head in his hands.

  1. When I spoke to Sada yesterday, he told me the pilots involved were now terrified for their lives. As a result, he has undertaken not to name them. This obviously makes verifying his account very difficult.

How convenient for him. And since saddam and the bathe party are no longer in power, exactly what would they have to be terrified for? I’m quite skeptical of this story and the ongoing claims of Iraq’s WMD’s having been shipped to Syria. There are just some people who won’t accept the reality that the WMD’s no longer existed at the time of the ‘03 invasion and thus are willing to grasp at straws and believe anyone claiming otherwise even when they present no evidence.

  2. I for one believe what he says. So do the Israeli intelligence.

  3. When we were wasting time at the UN trying build unity before going into Iraq I was worried that Saddam was cleaning house. We find out now in newly released documents that that was exactly what was going on.
It also is apparent now that that type of activity greatly increased in mid 2002 right after Rockefeller’s visit with Assad in Syria, in which according to his own admission he told Assad that the overthrow of the regime in Iraq was a settled matter in Washington.(note: Sada stated that Saddam and Assad had an agreement to transfer weapons into Syria for holding if Iraq was invaded)

We also know now that the other countries opposing the US policy at the UN, especially the Russians, were heavily involved in dealings with Iraq(i.e. “food for oil scam”, sales and transfer of weaponry and sanctioned goods, and transfer of intelligence as well as providing military advisors and personal.)

We were warned by Israeli intelligence before the invasion that there was a tremendous increase in freight traffic going out of Iraq into Syria. This was also evidenced by US satellite imagery.

Sada’s word alone would not carry great deal of weight., however his words are not alone, for he wrote and released his book before the Iraqi documents were ordered released to the public.
It turns out that Sada’s statements are consistent with what we are beginning to learn from the documents.

One of the most important points overlooked in the Iraq debate is that as a result of the lesson which Saddam derived from the 1991 Coalition war against him, the bulk of the Iraqi WMD work since 1991 was conducted outside the borders of the country. Recent documents showing a Libya, Syria, Iraq connection explain why Libya came clean about WMD and Nuclear programs.

Here is just one example from one audio tape recorded in Iraq aroung 1996:

Audio tape # ISGQ-2003-M0004667, - The Russians have been paid off,
    Quote:
“We have succeeded in a few of the U.N. paragraphs, we have won Russia, ahhh … we have convinced Russia by way of generous accounts [payoffs], in which, you remember how and why it happened..”.

Iraq’s lies to the U.N. inspectors are again acknowledged,
    Quote:
“They have a bigger problem with the Chemical progam than the Biological program, a lot bigger… It is not the weapons, the size of the imported material, the size of [UNINTELLIGIBLE] that we presented to them or the size of the stockpile. They knew that not all of this was true. We have not told them about the size or kind of Chemical weapons that we produced, and we have not told them the truth about the imported material. Therefore, sir, if they want to raise an issue, I mean, they will see that our argument is the issue of the Biological program.”

Nuclear materials were moved out of Iraq, and it seems that Iraqi “teams” were still working on nuclear weapons,
    Quote:
“Sir, where was the Nuclear material transported to? A number of them were transported outside of Iraq [Libya?]… Sir, about the Nuclear program, we say that we have uncovered everything. In addition, we have an unannounced problem with the Nuclear program, and I think they know about it. I mean, there is working teams that are working and some of these teams are not known to anyone.”

Note: ISSA [International Strategic Studies Association] for years has stated that Saddam’s nuclear program was primarily located in Libya since the 1st Gulf War
    strategicstudies.org - January 30, 2004 Iraqi war report.
ISSA believed that as many as 20,000 Iraqis were in Libya working on WMD and missile development.

  4. Bush Lied! People Died! WRONG!

Saddam’s WMD went to Syria with Russian help. Further Saddam’s hands were in many pots including secular, Shiia, Sunni, Libyian, French, Russian, Chinese, and yes NIGER! They will all collaberate with each other when it was in the short-term self-interest when the Little Satan and the Big Satan were the target. No matter what Amb. Wilson and his wife says. The bureaucrats of State and the CIA are running for cover and CYA’g as fast as possible, slinging disinformation all the while. They were wrong on many things before, during, and after 9/11.

President Bush has the courage to face down our enemy in the GWOT. All he has gotten in return is dirt thrown on him by the LL, MSM, and the liberal EU who were high on Saddam’s food chain in the Oil for Food Scandal.

RBT is a big fan of Iraqi Gen. Sada. Glad you are running Melanie Phillips interview with Gen. Sada. RBT has read his book cover to cover.

Gen. Sada saved the lives of the downed pilots in GWI at great risk to his own life. He is a pilot’s pilot, having trained in both the US, GB, and Russia. He is a true Iraqi patriot who only wants the best for his liberated country and his people.

RBT believes this man is no liar and has a very important message that the American people and the world need to hear that the LL and the MSM have failed to report.

His info coupled with the newly released documents of the Saddam Regime and corrobated by other sources shreds the meme that the LL and MSM have been drum beating for the last several years:

    Bush Lied! People Died!

The American people will see that they have been in large part duped by the LL and the MSM. The political will of the American people will swing to support President Bush and once and for all wipe this enemy and its ideology of hate and Evil from the face of this earth which is what is necessary to win the GWOT.
