Time to make war
After the bombing today in Tel Aviv, that has thus far killed at least 7 or 8 Israelis and wounded countless others, I had a thought that it was time for the Israeli government to wage full-scale war on Hamas and the Palestinians, to end the farce that is “Palestine” and to quit the small-scale raids, intermittent shelling of Gaza and even the IDF attacks.
Hamas declared its support, not suprisingly, for the murders today. Remember when Hamas said Israel had declared war by cutting off contact with “Murder, Inc.”, a.ka. Hamas? If that is grounds for war, then one would think that statements such as that made by OFFICIAL GOVERNMENT SPOKESMEN for Hamas would be enough that Israel could make war on the butchers that now putatively run Gaza and the West Bank:
Hamas official spokesman Sami Abu Zuhri called the attack “a natural result of the continued Israeli crimes against our people.”
“The Israeli occupation bears responsibility for the continuation of its aggression. Our people are in a state of self-defence and they have every right to use all means to defend themselves,” he added.
Obviously, that “all mean to defend themselves” means being supportive of blowing up felafel stands. Now, how that defends the Palestinian people is beyond me, but isn’t it time ISRAEL DEFENDS ITSELF BY ALL MEANS? I just saw the following on the Jerusalem Post website. It’s good that someone over there recognizes what is going on, and is an interview with Major-General Harel, retiring from the IDF:
From www.jcpa.org
Tells much more as to what we should expect to see from this new Hamas “government”
“Hamas’ tactical agreement to play by the democratic rules was a Trojan horse. It exploited the fragmentation of Fatah and the weakness of the Palestinian Authority to achieve political dominance as a first stage toward establishing Islamic rule that will implement Sharia law and lead, in fact, to the eradication of democracy.”
“Hamas Interior Minister Said Sayyam, who is responsible for the Palestinian security forces, publicly committed himself on March 24, 2006, not to order arrests of operatives who carry out terror attacks…It should come as no surprise that the Palestinian Authority under Hamas rule is becoming a safe haven for Islamic terror organizations…”

Since Hamas has expressed its support for the murders, Israel should simply start killing Hamas members (including members of the so-called Palestinian government) on sight. A missile from a helicopter or F-16 into the middle of the Palestinian “Parliament” would be a good start.
Israel should also consider legalizing vigilante justice against Hamas members, to the extent where any Israel is free to kill any member of Hamas, as long as they are damned sure it is a Hamas as opposed to someone they just don’t like because they are an Arab. There is precedent for this; countries once outlawed certain criminals, i.e. placed them outside the law’s protection so anyone was free to kill them.

Israel has already separated itself from Gaza and with extending its security fence, Kadima is now giving advance notice of its intention to unilaterally disengage and separate itself from the West Bank.
Reports over the last year that Israelis want to be separated from the Palestinians, no doubt were premised on thinking such separation would give Israelis greater security. It is very understandable why Israelis want to be separated from the Palestinians.
Olmert and Kadima however read the Israeli public mood correctly and capitalized on it by promising further unilateral disengagement. The Kadima platform of further unilateral disengagement was not however a policy written by inspired and wise leadership. Rather Olmert and Kadima engaged in uninspired crass followership of what they read that the Israeli public wanted.
Neither the Israeli public nor Olmert/Kadima gave regard to whether such unilateral disengagement/separation policy would give Israelis greater security.
To think that by unilaterally disengaging and separating, Israelis would have greater security is somewhat of a leap of faith and is actually contrary to all the evidence.
The almost daily Kassam rockets raining down on Israel over the last several months, the many Palestinian terror attacks that have been thwarted and those murderous terrorist attacks, like today in Tel Aviv that have not been prevented, speaks volumes about just how failed a policy it was to disengage from Gaza.
What makes Olmert and Kadima think that unilateral disengagement and separation from the West Bank will be any more successful than the failed Gaza disengagement which has not stopped terrorism, but increased it and emboldened Palestinians to believe that terrorism works?
It is a mystery to me and in that state of puzzlement, I know I have a lot of company.
Abbas has expressed condemnation for this most recent terrorist attack. Abbas is no more than a figurehead now that Hamas is in power so what good are his words of condemnation or deep sympathy for Israelis. Before Hamas was in power, Abbas spoke those same words, at least in English as regards other terrorist attacks, but he did not lift a finger to stop it. In fact he encouraged it in many ways, not the least of which was to designate part of the Palestinian budget to pay compensation to those Palestinians who had been released from or were still in Israeli jails. The recipients of Abbas’ largesse were in Israeli jails because of their terrorist activities.
Hamas has declared war on Israel. Whether the terrorist came from the Hamas camp or some other Palestinian factional terrorist camp, makes no difference. The majority of Palestinians support Hamas and the terrorist agendas of the Palestinian terrorist factions.
This most recent attack on innocent Israelis in Tel Aviv must be responded to in the short term by an immediate assault on Hamas and other Palestinian terrorist factions, with the prime motive being to wreak terrible vengeance on Israel’s enemies and in the long term, by Olmert and Kadima showing leadership to abandon their intended policy of unilateral disengagement and separation or at least re-examine it in the cold light of realities.

In my opinion, the only way to solve this problem is to fight back. Giving land for peace and has never worked and will never work. It is a short term solution and will not work in the long term.
