“Euro-love”

Thursday, May 31st, 2007

Modern western societies are not only failing to stop the spread of radical Islam, but whenever it begins to collapse someone comes rushing to give CPR and resuscitates it. Norway has decided that “love” is better than war and is setting an example which I’m sure in time others will follow.

Devastated Palestinian economy is thrown a £5m lifeline by Norway

BEN LYNFIELD

NORWAY yesterday became the first western country to resume direct financial assistance to the threadbare Palestinian Authority, transferring £5 million despite the Hamas government’s refusal to recognise Israel and renounce violence.

The Scandinavian country also urged other countries to drop sanctions imposed more than a year ago because of the stance by Hamas.

The Norwegian foreign minister, Jonas Gahr Stoere, said the money will pay the wages of civilian public servants, who have been on strike because their salaries are unpaid.

“We hope our contribution will help ease the social crisis the Palestinians are now going through,” he said.

Norway was also the first western country to meet Hamas ministers after a new national unity government was formed with the Fatah movement two months ago……ARTICLE

Columbia appoints another anti-Israel Dean

Thursday, May 31st, 2007

by Jerry Gordon

When former Dean of Columbia University’s School of International and Public Affairs (SIPA), Lisa Anderson resigned in a huff and returned to the faculty after the kerfuffle of her inviting Mad Mahdist Iranian President Mahmud Ahmadinejad on the eve of Rosh Ha Shanah last fall, you might have thought things might improve with appointment of her successor. Not the case. Instead, Professor John H. Coatsworth, currently Monroe Gutman Professor of Latin American Affairs at Harvard’s David Rockefeller Center got the nod. Coatsworth is a noted scholar on Latin American economic and international history and past President of the American Historical Association.

Notwithstanding his Latin Americn expertise, Professor Coatsworth signed the anti-Israel Harvard divestment petition. (more…)

Jewish Task Force Exposes Barack Obama’s Hate Group Connections

by Bill Levinson

Click here for the Jewish Task Force’s YouTube video that talks about Barack Obama’s personal connections to racist and anti-Semitic hate groups like Al Sharpton’s National Action Network, MoveOn.org, and individuals like Jesse “Hymietown” Jackson.

We verified, incidentally, that this does indeed belong to jtf.org, since http://www.jtf.org/ links directly to this YouTube account. We add in all modesty that a good part of the content seems to have come from our own site.

Living in Terror
By Fred Thompson Wednesday, May 30, 2007, Townhall.com

Let me ask you a hypothetical question. What do you think America would do if Canadian soldiers were firing dozens of missiles every day into Buffalo, N.Y.? What do you think our response would be if Mexican troops for two years had launched daily rocket attacks on San Diego — and bragged about it?

I can tell you, our response would look nothing like Israel’s restrained and pinpoint reactions to daily missile attacks from Gaza. We would use whatever means necessary to win the war. There would likely be numerous casualties on our enemy’s side, but we would rightfully hold those who attacked us responsible

Eliyahu advocates carpet bombing Gaza
Matthew Wagner, THE JERUSALEM POST

All civilians living in Gaza are collectively guilty for Kassam attacks on Sderot, former Sephardi chief rabbi Mordechai Eliyahu has written in a letter to Prime Minister Ehud Olmert.

Eliyahu ruled that there was absolutely no moral prohibition against the indiscriminate killing of civilians during a potential massive military offensive on Gaza aimed at stopping the rocket launchings.

The letter, published in Olam Katan [Small World], a weekly pamphlet to be distributed in synagogues nationwide this Friday, cited the biblical story of the Shechem massacre (Genesis 34) and Maimonides’ commentary (Laws of Kings 9, 14) on the story as proof texts for his legal decision.

According to Jewish war ethics, wrote Eliyahu, an entire city holds collective responsibility for the immoral behavior of individuals. In Gaza, the entire populace is responsible because they do nothing to stop the firing of Kassam rockets.

The former chief rabbi also said it was forbidden to risk the lives of Jews in Sderot or the lives of IDF soldiers for fear of injuring or killing Palestinian noncombatants living in Gaza.
