IPF calls for Israel not to be part of America’s problem

Wednesday, January 23rd, 2008

By Ted Belman

The Israel Policy Forum, a decidedly Peace Now kind of organization, comments on American Jews and the Peace Process. Based on a recent study and perhaps other inputs, it counsels,

[..] As the Bush era draws to a close, and “change” is the buzzword of the presidential campaign, the moment may well have arrived for American Jews to clarify their position on the peace process and speak out. Great numbers of liberals and moderates among Israel’s supporters may refuse to be eclipsed any longer by those who have until now gripped the gavel of authority on this critical issue. Those who oppose Israel’s need to compromise on territory in order to end the conflict, those who bang relentlessly on the doors of Congress in the name of a united Jerusalem, those who use political or financial threats to command political support—simply do not reflect the plurality of American Jews who, like the majority of all Americans today, are seeking compromise.

John Kerry on How To Destroy Obama’s Candidacy

Wednesday, January 23rd, 2008

We received the following unsolicited E-mail from Genghis John the Khan Kerry via the Obama campaign. While it was obviously not Genghis John’s intention to tell us how to destroy Barack Obama’s candidacy, he has provided us with exactly that information. The same goes for the National Jewish Democratic Council, which provided similar information.

This year, the attacks are already starting. Some of you may have heard about the disgusting lies about Barack Obama that are being circulated by email. These attacks smear Barack’s Christian faith and deep patriotism, and they distort his record of more than two decades of public service. They are nothing short of “Swiftboat” style anonymous attacks.

We need you to email the truth to your address books. Print it out and post it at work. Talk to your neighbors. Call your local radio station. Write a letter to the editor. If lies can be spread virally, let’s prove to the cynics that the truth can be every bit as persuasive as it is powerful.

We agree entirely, and by doing exactly the things that Genghis John has described, we can destroy this fairy tale (Obamanation is more descriptive) before it turns into a sick and devastating practical joke on the United States. The truth about Obama can be spread virally (NJDC uses the same word, “viral E-mail”) to end his candidacy. (more…)

Dare Any Call it Treason?

by Bill Levinson

We have been following the Dolores Umbridge-like persecutions of bloggers in Canada, the United Kingdom, and elsewhere on charges of “hate speech” or “promoting racial hatred” of Islamic supremacists. In the United States, various universities have imposed sanctions on critics of Islamic supremacy. It is past time to point to the elephant in the living room: How much is Saudi Arabia paying unnamed and unidentified government officials to betray their countries? There is no question that Saudi Arabia is using its oil money to buy influence around the world. There is little doubt that Saudi and other oil money is suborning a small handful of the numerous speech code enforcers in the Western world, although the vast majority are just dupes, useful idiots, and stooges for their countries’ enemies.

In addition, Saudis are buying influence through entirely legal methods, such as $20 million donations to Georgetown and Harvard Universities. Georgetown, a nominally Christian university that saw fit to throw Evangelical groups off campus while welcoming a Center for Muslim-Christian Understanding (this from a country in which it is illegal to practice Christianity), is a major source of U.S. State Department employees. Now let us look at how we might handle militant Islamic influence in Europe and North America. (more…)

It’s not too late to bomb Auschwitz

Wednesday, January 23rd, 2008

By Nidra Poller

President George W. Bush at Yad Vashem, his eyes flooded with tears, turned to ask Secretary of State Condoleeza Rice why the Americans did not bomb Auschwitz. The day before, in Ramallah, he fired hopes for what has come to be known as peace between Israel and a Palestinian state living side by side along slightly modified—or mollified– 1967 borders…elsewhere known as “Auschwitz” borders. The irony is clanging, but not everyone hears the same bells.

Jerusalem Post readers engaged in Talmudic disputation. The American president is tooling up for a new Shoah by helping the Palestinians get a state that will be a toehold for the destruction of Israel. Versus: How dare we—you– deny Palestinian aspirations and flout international law; Israel must end the occupation, whatever the risk. Just do the right thing.

Readers of the French daily Libération, consumed by Bush-hatred, slap the American President up ‘side the head. Hmph! Tears for the long ago victims of the Nazis but what about the hundreds of thousands of victims in Afghanistan and Iraq? What about the Palestinians? Bush is the world’s worst criminal. We’re tired of hearing about the Shoah.

The “Zionist enterprise” is synonymous with the settlements, not the state

Wednesday, January 23rd, 2008

By Ted Belman

The Gaza conundrum has left the “peace process” on the back burner. But what is more important than either is the battle over settlements which is ongoing.

The GoI has committed to uprooting 21 “illegal” or “unlawful”, depending on your choice of adjectives, outposts and to freeze settlements. When the freeze was first accepted by Sharon he reserved the right to natural growth and only committed to not building outside settlement boundaries. Now the US is insisting that no building take place even in Jerusalem as defined by Israel if the settlement, such as Har Homa, is east of the ‘67 line. Olmert has accepted this dictate and has ordered that no construction take place without his approval. Jerusalem’s Mayor Lupolianski, has announced defiance of Olmert’s illegal decree.

So far the Kadima government has not made a move to remove the 21 outposts but it has tried to prevent new settlements from being built particularly at Chomesh. Every time the government tears it down Jewish kids return to rebuild it. In addition MK Eldad stands with them in opposition to the government. The recent incarceration of the Jewish girls and their refusal to recognize the authority of the government is part of this ongoing battle.

Haaretz editorializes under the title, A thundering silence. The problem, as it sees it is set out.
