Obama continues with the Muslim card
By Gary Bauer of American Values
America’s Muslim Heritage?
President Obama is wrapping up his eight-day European tour with a stop in Turkey. A Muslim nation and member of NATO, Turkey is a geographic, economic and cultural bridge between Europe and the Middle East. Speaking in Turkey today, President Obama once again “reached out” to the Muslim world. His speech was broadcast live throughout the Middle East by Al Jazeera and Al Arabiyia. Here is an excerpt:
-
“Let me say this as clearly as I can. The United States is not and never will be at war with Islam. …America’s relationship with the Muslim world cannot and will not be based on opposition to Al Qaeda. We seek broad engagement based upon mutual interests and mutual respect. …We will convey our deep appreciation for the Islamic faith, which has done so much over so many centuries to shape the world for the better, including my own country. The United States has been enriched by Muslim Americans. Many other Americans have Muslims in their families or have lived in a Muslim-majority country — I know, because I am one of them.”
There was a lot in his remarks about what America will do and little in the way of the president’s expectations of the Muslim world. The president clearly placed the burden of reform on the United States, not the world’s Islamic states. Does this president have “mutual respect” for regimes that seek a second Holocaust and which persecute religious and other minorities? How many Muslim nations allow women to vote and hold public office? It’s ludicrous to suggest that our only problem with Islam is Al Qaeda. Al Qaeda is a big problem, but isn’t the only problem. Has the president heard of Hezbollah, Hamas and Islamic Jihad? Is the president aware of the madrasses and mosques all over the world that preach the jihadist philosophy telling Muslims that their duty to Allah requires them to kill the infidel?
I assume the president is familiar with the 2007 Pew Global Survey of Muslim attitudes, which found significant levels of support of homicide bombings among Muslims throughout the world – 70% in the Palestinian territories (Why create another terrorist state?), 23% in Jordan (a supposedly moderate Muslim nation), 16% in Turkey and 10% in Indonesia (the world’s most populous Muslim nation). The common denominator is radical Islam. Thankfully, not every Muslim is a terrorist. But virtually every terrorist that the United States has to worry about today is a Muslim. For the president to downplay that is not only irresponsible, it confuses our own citizens and makes it more likely that there will be another 9/11.
America Not A Christian Nation?
President Obama also told his Muslim audience, “We do not consider ourselves a Christian nation or a Jewish nation or a Muslim nation. We consider ourselves a nation of citizens who are bound by ideals and a set of values.” That’s odd. For a politician who claims to speak for the “common man” he doesn’t seem to know much about the common man. According to a recent Newsweek poll, 62% of the nation does consider America a Christian nation. I suspect the average viewer watching on Al Jazeera was thoroughly unimpressed by the president’s tolerance as he spoke to a nation that is 99.8% Muslim.
More broadly speaking, America is a Judeo-Christian nation, built upon the values in the Ten Commandments. If you asked Americans, “Do you consider America to be a Judeo-Christian nation,” I believe the percentage of folks agreeing with statement would skyrocket. If you asked, “Is America a Judeo-Christian-Muslim nation,” I suspect the number of affirmative responses would plummet. Because, with all due respect to moderate Muslims, Islam has contributed very little to the history of the United States. The last time I checked, the pilgrims who landed at Plymouth Rock were Christians, not Muslims. Our Founding Fathers were inspired by the Bible, not the Koran.
And here’s a historical footnote worth remembering: The first time America sent troops into combat overseas was when Thomas Jefferson ordered the Navy and the Marines to Libya to fight the Barbary Pirates. Still in its infancy, America was forced to confront militant Islam. Our Founding Fathers must be rolling over in their graves. President Obama literally bowed to a Muslim king, downplayed America’s sovereignty and denied its religious and cultural heritage. President Obama’s apologies for America and his attempts to be inoffensive to our Islamofascist enemies should offend millions of Americans.
Bauer is right that Obama by his virtually apologizing to the Muslim world for various American sins which he does not identify and for treating her Muslim allies with arrogance, disrespect and derision and the like, should offend and disgust millions of Americans.
Indeed Obama should have offended well over half of America’s 300 million people.
So why are Americans not rising up against their President?
Why are the news media not having a field day in tearing Obama down?
Bill, I believe the answer is simple. We need a leader and a group capable of organizing a march on Washington DC. We have the anger and enough patriotic citizens but we need to be organized by this summer.
The media are overwhelmed with political correctness, white guilt and a sense for white America to exhibit just how anti-racist and righteous people they are, they are loathe to be critical or at least not very critical of Obama.
Recall during the presidential campaign, McCain referred to Obama as “that guy”. There was nothing untoward, racist or otherwise about it, but the Obama attack dogs jumped all over it and the media went along to question whether it was appropriate and suggested it was not.
With the cartoon last month that showed a dead chimpanzee which was reference to a failed stimulus package, blacks, led by the irreverant Reverand Al Sharptom led the charge to condemn the cartoon, the cartoonist and the NYT as being racist alleging the black chimpanzee represented balck Obama. Whites jumped onto Sharpton’s bandwagon to condemn the cartoon as racist, while others stopped short of suggesting the cartoon was racist, but said it was in poor taste, a tasteless cartoon or a bad cartoon.
The NYT had not difficulty with publishing Oliphant’s cartoon of the headless Nazi stomping into Gaza to crush a frightened little Palestinians. Indeed, where was the American outrage against this anti-semitic cartoon?
Americans will be almost as careful about criticizing Obama for his sycophantic outreach to the Muslim world, telling the Muslim world America has been bad, promising the Muslim world that America will do better by them and not holding the Muslim world to account in the least for the evil that hundreds of millions of Islamists, radical and fundamentalist Muslims and Jihadists have done to non-Muslims and non-Muslim nations and indeed the evil these Islamists have done to Muslims.
The fact is that Israel is no threat to America and Jews will only protest American policies with words. Muslims have been known to use violent protest as a strategy and it is no secret that Al qaeda and other Islamists have sleeper terrorist cells in the U.S.
America and Americans fear being called racist. America and Americans fear the Muslim world. America and Americans do not fear Israel or Jews.
Salim Mansur is the one Obama should listen to. See A lesson from Easter

Pres. Obama is denying realities and history in his outreach to the Muslim world. Obama’s outreach is marked by his debasing America and Americans in the eyes of the Muslim world, which of course is confirmation to the Muslim world that their hatred of America is justified. Obama thus plays the role of a Presidential sycophant leading a nation of American sycophants who can’t say or do enough to earn Muslim forgiveness.
Whatever sins America has committed vis a vis the Muslim world pales by significance to the sins that the Muslim world have committed against America and the West.
Is this guy for real? First of all we have no mutual interests with the muslim world. Second of all, as far as “mutual respect” goes, the muslim world never has, does not now, and never will have respect for non-muslims. But beyond that, they don’t even believe we have the right to exist let alone respect us. As far as conveying “our deep appreciation for the islamic faith”, Obama speaks only for himself and I resent him claiming to speak for all of America. I for one do not appreciate the islamic “faith” if that’s even what you want to call it. I call it a death cult and I loathe islam as every freedom-loving individual should. Furthermore what the hell has islam ever done in its history to shape the world for the better? It has done nothing but leave a legacy of centuries of bloodshed and has not progressed one iota from its beginnings since islam is still widely practiced in the barbaric the way it was practiced during mohamed’s time. And islam certainly has done nothing to enrich America or has had any role whatsoever in shaping America.
It is not racist to depict Obama as a chimpanzee or another lesser primate, as this is pretty standard political cartooning practice. Perhaps we should depict Barry as a baboon instead, because the Left has already depicted George W. Bush (Caucasian) as a chimpanzee. See http://www.bushorchimp.com/
Pres. Obama is on a roll. His sycophantic, submissive and appeasement policies aimed at the Arab world in particular and the Muslim world in general should not come as a surprise.
These policies as expressed in Obama’s Al Arabiya interview and now his speech in Turkey are entirely consistent with what he was saying during the Presidential election campaign.
No one in the Liberal media seemed to find anything wrong to criticize with Obama’s touted outreach to the Muslim world ideas, save for going too far when he said he was prepared to meet with Ahmadinejad without any pre-conditions. In fact, the Liberal media praised Obama as some kind of great visionary and saviour of America and the West as regards his foreign policy pronouncements that were….well foreign as regards having any semblance of recognizing realities that were all too obvious.
Add to that, Obama continued to blame or accuse Bush of not trying to engage America’s enemies through diplomatic channels that he would do. In so doing, Obama was telling blatant lies that neither the media nor the Republicans and McCain even tried to deal with or reveal to be lies.
The Republicans generally were ineffective in raising concerns as regards Obama’s messages during the election campaign. Of the Republican electorate or conservative Americans, none were effective in mounting a grass roots opposition to Obama such that the liberal media had to notice and report on.
Obama will just continue to roll right along as he has, unless the Republican party, the Republican and conservative American base can organize an effective grass movement and the Liberal media organizations get uneasy enough with Obama’s Middle Eastern/Muslim world submissive appeasement policies to give them all the guts to put Obama’s feet to the fire with tough questions and even tougher expressions of disapproval.
If enough Americans see the video of Obama bowing low to the Saudi King and demand that the media deal with it and its significance, then maybe, just maybe the bloom on the Obama rose will start to wear off and Obama will be unmasked for the person he really is, which is not nearly as pretty as the image so carefully cultivated for him by himself and his cadre of adoring fans.
Laura, God Bless You, you got it right. He is not speaking for me either. He is in love with himself. He’s a guy with all the wrong moves and he is too dumb to recognize it.
He the community organizer in action inspired by Rev. Wright. Another Jimmy Carter both friends of Hamas. Both of themm are one of two things, either really dumb or anti-Semitic, maybe both.
I am watching FOX/O’Reilly and they are complaining about Obama bowing to the Saudi King. This is the President of the U.S.???
