Is Obama Aiming to Bring Down Bibi?
Obama’s hard line on settlement expansion may have more to do with hurting Netanyahu than with the “peace process.”

Bibi & Barak
Last week in London, dovish Likud minister Dan Meridor reportedly [2] complained to a U.S. delegation that “Washington’s demands of a complete construction freeze would lead to the dissolution of the Netanyahu government.” The Israeli side was said to be “stunned by the uncompromising U.S. stance.”
Israeli commentator Ben Caspit [3] claims the following, from Netanyahu:
-
“What do they want from me? That my government will fall?”
The Obama administration’s heavy pressure on the settlement issue may well intend precisely that.
This week, Defense Minister Ehud Barak will be in Washington for talks with — among others — Vice President Joe Biden, Defense Secretary Robert Gates, and National Security Adviser James Jones. Barak, from the left-of-center Labor Party, is the most dovish major minister in the government. Netanyahu badly wanted Barak and his party within his coalition, partly due to the belief that Labor’s dovish image would shore up Netanyahu’s legitimacy. Barak is said to agree that the U.S. demand for a total settlement freeze, even on “natural growth,” is unreasonable, and is expected to present that position in Washington.
Netanyahu may be finding out the hard way, though, that if Obama and his crew are dead-set against his government, even including perceived moderates in his coalition won’t help. Apart from the diplomatic rumors, there are reasons to believe the U.S. wants to see Bibi go:
1. Netanyahu is a despised man in Washington. In a well-known snippet from his book The Missing Peace, veteran peace-processer and current Persian Gulf envoy Dennis Ross called Netanyahu, in his previous prime-ministerial stint, “nearly insufferable.” In February, after Netanyahu’s Likud and the right wing did well in the Israeli election, the Washington Post [4] reported that “many key players [in the U.S. administration] have long and difficult memories of dealing with … Netanyahu … when he was prime minister during the Clinton administration.” Another peace-processer from that era, Aaron David Miller, said “This is like hanging a ‘closed for the season’ sign on any peacemaking for the next year or so.” (Continue Reading this Article)
I propose turning the tables on obama and working to bring down his administration. Not only has this stalinist acted to thwart American democracy but he is seeking to undermine the choice of another sovereign democratic nation.
Of course the scoundrel occupying the White House would like a more compliant lap-dog Israeli government with no pride. Israelis need to stand united behind Netanyahu and Bibi must take action as quickly as possible against Iran.
Laura, I respect your opinion.
Please read Caroline’s text.

This was an outstanding speech as is everything Caroline Glick writes. I wish Israel’s political leaders would stand as stalwart in defense of the Jewish people’s right to ALL of Jerusalem and ALL of Israel.
It pains me to see in print by most Jewish and Gentile supporters of Israel a harder line on Jerusalem over the rest of the Land of Israel. Jerusalem only importance to the Jews is religious. It housed the Temple. As I recall G-d gave to the Jewish People the whole of the land of Israel Not just Jerusalem.
Laura you and Yamit are equally correct.
Now Israel has to take a position based on those statements.
I know I beat a dead horse but somehow we need to inspire American Jews to take a stand for Israel.
I just know if they would make an effort they could very well gather support from non-Jewish Americans.
Let’s face it all the Palestinians want to do is drive a stake in the heart of Jerusalem and Israel.
For starters how about local Jewish organizations working together with a write-in campaign with letters bearing the Star of David and gather as many Americans to send them to their members of both houses.
“We citizens of this great Nation request you as our represenative to stand with us on behalf of another great Nation Israel, a trusted friend and democracy honor and respect their sovereignty which includes all of Jerusalem and Israel from the Jordan River to the Mediterranian including the Golan Heights, all of Gaza and the Sinai.”
“In addition, in lieu of throwing away all the money on failing banks, auto manufacturers, etc. funds to be avaiable for relocating the Palestinians to Jordan and Egypt”
Of course this would need some professional tweaking in order for the knucleheads in Washington to understand.
I trust you get the idea.
I know it sounds crazy, something is better than nothing and silence.
Remember, congress knows regardles of all the lobbying and money contributed, its the citizens at the voting polls that get them elected.
If the Choices before American Jewry is between Israel and Obama they will by a large majority I believe choose Obama. If the choices are between Israel and Liberalism, I believe the overwhelming majority will choose liberalism.
If the choice of American Jewry between America or Israel, I believe the great majority of Jews would choose America,
Therefore I maintain that we are now alone in everything but our declaration of fact, that this is so.
What will it take to stir the Ameican Jews?
Where are all the American Jewih organizattions?
How do you connect them to Israel?
I know G-d may not like it but, I am a little upset (just little Lord) that you provided this beautiful land of Israel for the Jewish people and didn’t include the spirit to go along with it and on top of that you forgot to get the message to the American Jews.
I know G-d you are very busy these day, an awful lot of request made of you however, you are G-d and nothing is impossible even thought you son Yamit thinks so.
G-d I promise to add a few extra daily prayers if You would just light the spark in the American Jews to remind them Israel is their home away from home and to protect it as such
By the way G-d, I said only a little upset.
When the gentile mobs begin to assault them, it will be too late for most of them and it will happen maybe even sooner than one might think. American Jews believe with all their hearts and souls that they are different from other Jews and other historical times. So did German Jewry and so did French Jewry etc, etc.
King Solomon said ” What has been is what will be, and what has been done is what will be done, and there is nothing new under the sun.” There is a thing of which [someone] will say, “See this, it is new.” It has already been for ages which were before us. [But] there is no remembrance of former [generations], neither will the later ones that will be have any remembrance among those that will be afterwards. I saw all the deeds that were done under the sun, and behold, everything is vanity and frustration.
“Son of man, prophesy concerning the shepherds of Israel; prophesy and say to them, to the shepherds: So said the Lord God: Woe, shepherds of Israel who were shepherding themselves! Do not the shepherds shepherd the flocks? You eat the fat and you clothe yourselves with the wool; the fatlings you slaughter; the flocks you do not shepherd. The frail you did not strengthen, the sick you did not heal, the broken you did not bind, those astray you did not bring back, and the lost you did not seek, but with strength and with rigor you chastised them. They scattered because they had no shepherd, and they became prey for all the beasts of the field, and they scattered. My flock strayed throughout all the mountains and upon every lofty hill, and upon the entire face of the land My flock scattered-and none searches or seeks.
Therefore, shepherds, hearken to the word of the Lord. As I live, says the Lord God, I swear that because My flocks have become a prey, for My flocks have become food for all the beasts of the field because they have no shepherd, and My shepherds did not search for My flocks, and the shepherds shepherded themselves but they did not shepherd My flocks. Therefore, you shepherds, hearken to the word of the Lord. So said the Lord God: Behold, I am against the shepherds, and I shall demand My flocks from their hands, and I shall banish them from shepherding the flocks. The shepherds will no longer shepherd themselves, and I shall rescue My flocks from their mouth, and they will not be to them for food. For so said the Lord God: Behold I am here, and I shall search for My flocks and I shall seek them out.
I will pasture My flocks and I will cause them to lie down, says the Lord God.
I will seek the lost and I will retrieve the one astray; I will bind the broken and I will strengthen the ill, and the fat and the strong I will destroy; I will pasture it with justice..
And you, My flocks, so said the Lord God: Behold I judge between one lamb and another, among the rams and among the he-goats. . Is it little for you? The good pasture you graze, and the rest of your pasture you tread with your feet; you drink the clear water, and the rest you tread with your feet.
And My flocks graze upon what you trod with your feet, and they drink what you trod with your feet.
Therefore, so said the Lord God to them: Behold I am here, and I will judge between a strong lamb and a lean lamb.
Because you push with flank and with shoulder, and with your horns you gore all the frail ones until you have scattered them abroad.
I shall save My flocks, and they will no longer become a prey, and I shall judge between one lamb and another lamb.
And I shall put up over them one shepherd and he will shepherd them, namely My servant David; he will shepherd them, and he will be for them as a shepherd.
And I, the Lord, shall be to them for a God, and My servant David [will be] a prince in their midst; I, the Lord, have spoken.
And I shall make with them a covenant of peace, and I shall abolish the wild beasts from the land, and they will dwell securely in the desert and grow old in the forests.
And I shall make them dwell around My hill for a blessing, and I shall bring down rain in its time; they will be rains of blessing.
And the tree of the field will give forth its fruit and the land will give forth its produce, and they will know that I am the Lord when I break the bars of their yoke and rescue them from those who enslave them.
And they will no longer be a prey to the nations, and the beasts of the earth will not devour them, and they will dwell securely, with no one frightening them.
And I shall establish for them a plantation for renown, and they will no longer be hidden because of hunger in the land, and they will no longer bear the disgrace of the nations.
And they will know that I, the Lord their God, am with them, and they are My people, the house of Israel, says the Lord God.
And you are My flocks, the flocks of My pasture, you are man; I am your God,” says the Lord God.
Ron, as you can read here there is nothing new under the sun!
