Sarah Palin is one of a kind.

By Ted Belman

palin3Sarah Palin is a self made woman who marches to her own drummer. Its easy to come down on her for her couple of bad interviews or for her English grammar errors or her former ignorance of international and national politics and …oh, is that all?

But there is no denying her meteoric rise from hockey mom to the Republican VP nominee on her own merit and track record, in little over 15 years all while giving birth to and raising five children and helping her husband on his commercial fishing boat.

And there is no denying that few people would have had the guts to give up the Governorship last summer and go for broke. Who does that? Sarah does.

And there is no denying her great success since in writing a best seller which in six months has sold over 2.5 million copies, in becoming the leader of the opposition to current government policies, in becoming the most sought after speaker at astronomical speaker fees, in becoming a Fox News commentator, in becoming the most sought after guest for talk shows because of what her appearance does for ratings, in becoming the most sought after endorsement for politicians running for office, in being hotly pursued as a speaker for a variety of charity events all the while being mercilessly attacked for all manner of ridiculous charges, trumped up, or otherwise.

And she is not done yet. She has started writing a second book and is soon to get a major studio to produce a series of documentaries on her beloved home state of Alaska.

Name me one woman, who went to an Ivy League School or otherwise, with a PhD or otherwise who can hold a candle to such accomplishments. Sarah is one of a kind.

But back to the ridiculous charges. It is not just that they hate her, fear her, envy her, resent her and/or reject her Christian values. Something else is at play.

When George Bush was President, the Left attacked him constantly in a variety of ways including the use of chants such as “Bush lied, people died.” Although the attacks on him came nowhere near the current attacks on Palin, they succeeded in wearing down his administration and paving the way for Democratic victories. Pres Obama’s campaign strategy was all about capitalizing on this denigration. Bush became the source of all evil and incompetence.

Sarah Palin is being attacked now for the same reason. The attacks go way beyond a simple expression of a feeling or an opinion. They are part of a strategy to build up in the minds of the people that she is all manner of bad things and certainly, not fit for the office of President. It doesn’t matter whether the attacks are baseless or frivolous. What matters is that there are more negative articles written about her than articles of praise and support. Its a numbers game.

The left can’t afford to be passive. They must go all out, everyday, to besmirch her name, with lies if necessary, otherwise she will begin to fly.

    She is already flying.

Palin is becoming increasingly polished in interviews.

By the time 2012 rolls around, she will be ready.

These two books (values, issues) will do for her what “Six Crises” did for Nixon.

Palin will become the inevitable nominee long before the Iowa Caucus arrives.

I’m not at all concerned about her polish – although admittedly it’s useful. I’m more interested in her testosterone level, which beats most men around her: The Woman as Warrior. Fearsome.

This is what scares those who hate her passionately – men and women. She makes them look inferior.

And as for intelligence; there are many different types of intelligence, and the so-called “intellectuals” – who really hate her with a passion – believe that their’s (so polished and nuanced and well-spoken) happens to be the measuring rod of what intelligence ought to be. She has an intelligence ‘way beyond that. It’s highly intuitive, which makes it not easily defineable. I can see it in her face every time I look at it. And I do look at it… :-)

Ted, your obsession with Sarah Palin grows unabated!
As I have said before, other than her looks, there is little to pay attention to. She’s popular with the Christian Right, and with the tea-baggers. However, nobody in the Republican party would dare suggest that she could seriously be considered for a nomination. She is the most un-serious politician I have seen lately, and quite frankly, every time she speaks, I can’t help feeling that most people think she’s grossly unprepared. Having said this, I have little interest on what she says, as I feel she is mostly irrelevant.
Notwithstanding the aforemetioned, I like her personality, share some of her views and appreciate her support for Israel. I really don’t have a problem with her, I just realize the limited extent of her potential. I have a problem with your obsession that somehow Palin can make a difference, or weaken the Democrats, or rally the Republicans, or walk on water, etc, etc. Sorry to tell you, she can’t.
    Leave her alone!

  5. keelie says:

    drjb,

You talk in vague generalities. Look at what’s sitting in the White House right now; someone everybody thought was a capable dude. Look how many people bought into it. And he COULD! Right. So on what basis is she incompetent… unless of course the US needs the comfort of someone like the Big 0 who impresses greatly – and that’s it. All talk.

The only thing standing in her way is what I mentioned above: her testosterone level.

Weaken the Democrats? How is that possible? There’s a percentage of the population of the US that’s batshit crazy and would NEVER admit that anything greater than the Big 0 exists. Forget them; they are in the Democrats’ pockets. Better to strengthen the Repubs.

I – like Ted – see something deeper. If not as President, certainly in a position of power. How about someone who would kick ass where it’s needed most: in the State Department.

This Lady is smarter, better educated, better communicator, honest, gutsy, is a fundamentalist Christian and is pro Israel but most important she is better looking than Sarah Palin.

I fully agree with you on Obama, I don’t like him one bit. My disagreement comes with your expectations for Palin, they’re unrealistically high. Don’t get me wrong, I like her, but I hold no hope she’ll ever get to play a role in any future Republican administration, never mind lead the party. As well, I see no leading Republican figures remotely aligning themselves with her. She’s done very well for herself, but that’s where it all ends.
Obama is a great salesman and a captivating speaker. The American masses(including the independents) loved every breath he took while campaigning. The masses are stupid, and that’s all it takes. Palin is not capable of generating any kind of enthusiasm outside of her direct/small constituency. Her appeal is not limited by her testosterone level but by her lack of depth.
I hope she continues to do well for herself but as far as national politics go, she doesn’t stand a chance.

    Ted, Ted, Ted!

I have partially agreed with you some of the time, whole heartedly agreed with you on several occasions, hardly agreed with you a number of times and always thought… regardless if I agreed with you or not that you had a good grasp of what this world is all about. But… Sarah Palin!!!

Yes, she is one smart cookie,. Yes, she knows what she wants and goes for it and yes, she has been successful in many of these endevours. But Ted… politically she has the acumen of a turnip. I don’t care how you spin it, what side of her character you look at … the last thing she is… is presidential material… and I am amazed to see you looking at her with those rose colored glasses. What were you thinking!

Dear Mr. Belman, you have to be insane. Sarah is a self-promoting know nothing who is out to be famous and will do whatever it takes to promote her own interests. Her book was coauthored by a well known writer known for her authorship for conservative causes.. Sarah attended at least seven universities before she got her Bachelor’s degree. Don’t take my word for it; check whether she was distinguished for her ability to think.

Mr. Belman, I believe in the survival of Israel as much as any person, but I think that you have an agenda which believes she is better than Obama or the Democratic party in promoting its interests. This article does not paint you as an honest person. Your picture of Sarah is chock full of misrepresentations. I’m disappointed in you

Please take me off your email list.

PS Her quitting the governorship was 1) to grab an opportunity to promote her book tour while she was “hot” and (2) because there were a couple of suits headed her way because of the misuse of her governorship.
Ask your wife whether she could properly take care of her three children and a child who needs extra care and tend to her husband at the same time while campaigning for a book and promoting her political ambitions.

And please don’t insult my intelligence by attributing my lack of respect for Sarah’s intellect or character to envy or some other ugly motive. We Jews have survived because we can look reality in the face. We know a liar when we see one.

If she gets in – and I’m betting she’ll smash Obama in 2012 if she can grab the nomination – she will be Saudia’s worst nightmare. The party will be over for them. Talk about a “new paradigm”.

I saw her live at a rally near my hometown the week before the election. She was simply incredible. This woman has CHARISMA.

Anyway, I am sure that the Saudis are bankrolling a lot of this effort against her.

    Ted,

I applaud you for your article.

This is the most important political Zionist figure in America. She is a two legged Peter Bergson pageant waiting to happen and her speech that she wrote decrying Ahmadinejad was a seismic jolt that no one ever heard, because of the insipid politicking of Hillary Clinton and her toadies in the New York American Jewish community. A true low point in the effort to sound the clarion call before it was too late.

I am sorry that Zionists feel hesitant to express their appreciation for Palin’s bold and at times politically risky loyalty to Israel. She has shown a progressive thinking on the Arab-Israeli conflict which defines her maverick bonafides and which deserves a real warmth from an Israel that is so perilously isolated. Netanyahu should invite her and meet with her and greet her like a head of state. That would rock the house.

I’m happy for her commercial success and grateful for her fortitude and wisdom.

    Ted,

Here’s what your blog post comes down to: you’re treating Palin as a prodigy, because she’s become a successful celebrity. This Palin over-enthusiasm is a form of hysteria. Please regain some perspective and balance. In order to like her, you don’t have to build her up into some great thing that she is not.

The fact that the left is attacking her is also not a reason to think she is great, or that she is a savior.

By writing to article, I am trying to get detractors to have perspective.

There is time enough to decide whether she would make a good president when she gets into policy.

  19. Ted Belman says:

G-d help us if she ever were to become the leader of the free world.

As I recall you voted for Obama or would have if you were an American.

Palin is not necessarily the one. We’ll see how she holds her own when getting into debates on policy.

    Ted –
I am conservative as you. I am an active GOP party member (ward leader). Sarah Palin is not presidential material nor is she electable. Her understanding of the issues is shallow. She was exposed horribly during the past election. To be sure, she has high favorable ratings among her supporters, who bought her book. But some politicians (and Hillary is included in this list) have such high negatives that they cant really get beyond their base. Yes, she was thrown to the wolves, and she was ill prepared. I respect how much she has been able to accomplish. And she might be the one, the only, person to have the guts to move the American Embassy to Jerusalem! But Katie Couric did not ask trick questions, and Palin really was exposed. There are great conservatives out there who are supporters of Israel and we should keep an open mind towards a party not dependent on a popular, though not globally electable, candidate.

I prefer to see how she does this time around in the primaries before deciding. If she is as bad as you say she won’t get the nominationn

    Yes! But…….

She quit her job before her term was over, leaving little of a positive track record, but a lot of questions….

She went for the Money…..But is she a QUITTER??

    Do we need another Obama??

Can we afford the risk?? NO!

She had a great record as Governor and the highest approval ratings. Read up on what she accomplished.

She was right to quit. Her legal bills exceeded half a million and the many ethics charges were draining. Having quit is a bullshit issue.

She is the antithesis of Obama.

  27. Ted Belman says:

  28. keelie says:

drjb – what you say is essentially correct…

    as for this:

Her appeal is not limited by her testosterone level but by her lack of depth.

I personally don’t see that; in fact quite the opposite. Again, look at the depth in the Big 0 (that’s a zero by the way).

As for the other comments that Ted received, I see the arrogance oozing out of people, particularly those who judge Palin’s intelligence according to one standard: themselves. Again, they can’t define “stupidity” other than lack of academic credentials. I have news for such narrow-minded people; before credentials were king, people still had intelligence; it simply wasn’t manifested in a university degree. And of course looking at what’s going on in modern universities, one wonders if a certificate that proves that one has been thoroughly brainwashed is a good measure of anything. Not in my book!!!

Palin DOES things effectively. We need more people like that, otherwise the world will fall asleep again. One commentator suggested that Palin would be Saudi Arabia’s worst nightmare… That’s a great start.

I think Rose (one of the commentators) should check herself out. I’ve known Ted for a while now, and what she says about him verges on the defamatory.

I would not consider him a great salesman. First of all he was no more than a acorn community organizing Muslim (professed to be a Christian for political reasons)and was propped up by the liberal left wing medias in this country. He was given a middle of the road script to follow and had a great supporting cast of all the media.

He needs to follow a teleprompter and at times has a problem following the script.

He is anti-Semitic and is no friend of Israel.

Defending the indefensible blinded by IDEOLO6Y Sarah P is the worst examplar of rational rt of centre positions because she is totally unequipped to be a political leader @ any level (beyond PTA President. She sunk a credible alternative to Obama by her prescence on the ballot She mobilized the core of the Republican Party many of whom cone off as loonie extremists She made it easy for independants not to vote for McCain. She is & was a CHARACTURE. Anyone can get a ghostwritten book out in short order.

This is the same degrading term the left uses for the tea party movement. I don’t like it and a conservative shouldn’t be using such a term. And furthermore, Sarah is quite serious. Much more serious than the clowns that currently lead us. She knows who our enemies are and who are our friends. Sarah would not be mistreating our friends and sucking up to our enemies.

The only thing standing in her way is what I mentioned above: her testosterone level.

Man oh man, I have to laugh at the spin. It takes “guts” to quit a job you swore to your constituency you would fulfill????? She “wrote” a best seller? Uh, no, not really, it was ghost written. So in reality she’s a quitter, who ignored her responsiblity, and put her name on someone else’s work. Wow, what a wonderful role model. And I don’t know what the mental illness is among some observant Jews to be in love with a woman whose value system is so completely adverse to Jewish . . . took 6 colleges in 5 years to get a degree in television , got married when she was pregnant, has an umemployed bum husband, a son with anger issues, a promiscuous daughter, backed Pat Buchanan for president, thinks that if only all the Jews would move to Israel and die that her god would rise from the dead . . . please, where the HELL is the attraction? This is a woman of valor?

You know what? It takes GUTS to stay in the elected office you swore to uphold. It takes BRAINS to go to a college and get a real education. It takes MORALS to marry someone who can be a lifemate, not just a sex toy. It takes LOVE OF FAMILY to raise your children properly and put your own ambitions second. It takes ABILITY to sit down and write your own book, instead of taking a quick paycheck to have someone else do it for you. It takes DEDICATION to be informed about important issues, instead of blaming the questioner when you are made a fool of by not knowing the answer to a simple question. And in all these categories, Palin is distinctly lacking. Oh, she’s wonderful at self-promotion. Oh, just watching her speak lets you know how much she is in love with herself and her own voice. And it is wonderful for her that the right wing media will pay her, build her a TV studio in her mansion, and promote her endlessy. BUT IT DOESN’T MAKE HER SOMEONE WHO IS NOT LUDICROUS TO CONSIDER ON THE NATIONAL STAGE!
