Biden runs afoul of US resolution confirming Jerusalem as the undivided capital of Israel
By Naomi Ragen
The headlines in Israel during Mr. Biden’s visit are making me angry. First, his statement that Israel’s announced plan to build 1,600 housing unit in East Jerusalem “undermines peace.”
What peace is that? The Arab “piece” plan, where Israel turns over more and more “pieces” of land to Palestinians who can then turn them into “terror-tory,” as they did with Gush Katif? Mr. Biden, you come here declaring that the Israeli and Palestinian sides are ‘not that far apart’ and only Israel’s policies are holding peace from breaking out, “endangering American soldiers,” as one headline put it.
Are you for real?
You tell Israel not to attack Iran, and expect six million of us to wait patiently as the current American administration pussyfoots with healthcare while an A-Bomb is aimed at our heads. And ISRAELIS ARE ENDANGERING AMERICANS? Are you for real?? Nothing on the Palestinian side has changed since the lies of Oslo and yet you fully expect Israel to give up sovereignty over her capital, Jerusalem, in exchange for ….what?
I would like to remind Mr. Biden of the following Congressional resolution, passed on April 24, 1990.
“House Resolution Expressing Support for Jerusalem as Israel’s Capital
Whereas the State of Israel has declared Jerusalem to be its capital;
Whereas from 1948 to 1967 Jerusalem was a divided city and Israeli citizens of all faiths were not permitted access to holy sites in the area controlled by Jordan;
Whereas since 1967 Jerusalem has been a united city administered by Israel and persons of all religious faiths have been guaranteed full access to holy sites within the city; Whereas the President and the Secretary of State have demonstrated their strong desire to achieve a just and lasting peace in the Middle East and have worked diligently toward that end;
Whereas ambiguous statements by the Government of the United States concerning the right of Jews to live in all parts of Jerusalem raise concerns in Israel that Jerusalem might one day be redivided and access to religious sites in Jerusalem denied to Israeli citizens; and the search for a lasting peace in the region: Now, therefore, be it Resolved by the House of Representatives (the Senate concurring), That the Congress
(1) acknowledges that Jerusalem is and should remain the capital of the State of Israel;
(2) strongly believes that Jerusalem must remain an undivided city in which the rights of every ethnic religious group are protected; and
(3) calls upon all parties involved in the search for peace to maintain
their strong efforts to bring about negotiations between Israel and
Palestinian representatives.”
Bye, bye Mr. Biden. Thanks for dropping by. Come again soon when you have our next liaison with reality, and the American administration is a little more deserving of Israel’s trust.
Excellent commentary that properly expresses disdain for Biden’s bigoted idiocy.
Endangering American soldiers?
So when Muslims murder Americans, Biden blames the Jews.
I’m surprised that Obama, Biden, and Clinton don’t come out and say that they oppose the “Judaization of Jerusalem.”
They all certainly stand foursquare behind the latinization, islamicization, and africanization of America, at least as long as those groups vote Democratic.
Israel – world hypocrisy playground
Russian FM condemned Jewish construction in Ramat Shlomo, Jerusalem, as “unacceptable.” Russia, that is, may claim prime real estate in Jerusalem thousands of miles from its borders, but Jews may not build here. Russia may annex the Kuril Islands and expel all Japanese citizens with 50 lbs of possessions per person, but Israel may not annex her own capital.
Ramat Shlomo building plans are fake
As expected, Netanyahu dispelled yesterday’s announcement by his Interior Minister. The plan to build 1,600 housing units for Israelis in Ramat Shlomo, Jerusalem will take, the PMO office said, several years to develop – that is, never.
Tel Aviv applauds condemnations of Israel
A long applause ensued in Tel Aviv University hall when Biden said that on Hussein Obama’s request he “immediately condemned” Jewish construction in Ramat Shlomo, Jerusalem.
Abbas respects Hamas’ opinion
The Fatah chief used the first occasion to back out of even indirect negotiations with Israel, as Hamas and other terrorist groups have demanded.
Abbas explained his refusal by the alleged Israeli plans to build in Ramat Shlomo.
Of course, the terrorist have a right to refuse the negotiations – which are futile, anyway. But why Israeli government continues tax transfers to support his regime?
IDF to soldiers: you die, not Arabs
Military prosecution had confirmed Goldstone allegations by indicting two IDF sergeants.
The sergeants, who naturally wanted to live, forced Palestinian teenagers to open the boxes possibly booby-trapped by their elected Hamas government during the 2009 war in Gaza.
There is not a slightest doubt in Jewish religious law that the soldiers did a right thing.
It is all so surrealistic.
How about killing Abbas and then giving the Palestinians Tel Aviv University as reparations?
And I certainly am glad that the Russians have stopped murdering Chechnians just long enough to whimper about Israel.
the enemies of Israel have a new strategy, they say “I am a friend of Israel” or “you do not need to be Jewish to be a Zionist“
better solution: kill the pope and give rome to the arabs
You are Archie Bunker, post-Alzheimer’s.
This is part of the problem with Bibi, the other part is that he has de facto turned on the Right. The right-wing parties meembers of his coalition should immediately withdraw their support, but they won’t. I really don’t understand what israelis want their country to look like in the future.
You first need Jewish leaders to create a Jewish army. Only then this BS won’t happen. You know what I’m getting at.
By the way, the S&P closed at 1150, long live “king Obama”.
Yamit, i agree.
However, did you remark the following very important aspect:
when ahmed tibi, IMAH SHEMO VEZIKHRO VEZARO VEZERA ZARO SHEM RESHA’IM YIRKAV LE’OLAM VA’ED AMEN KEN YEHI RATSON, said in the Knesset that there is no difference between the Etsel and Lehi heros (“Olei HaGardom”) and LEHAVDIL arab terrorists, he was RIGHT from a purely FORMAL point of view, since Shlomo Ben-Yosef HY”D for instance fired at a bus of arab civilians and INTENDED to kill arab civilians as a retaliation for the murder of Jews by arabs of the region. the anti-Semites point out very correctly that it is impossible to define in a purely formal way the difference between a terrorist and a Jewish hero. the assimilated left-wing Jews and also many assimilated right-wing Jews who are not learned in the Jewish tradition, think, IN VAIN AND VEY WRONGLY, that it is possible to give a FORMAL DEFINITION OF GOOD AND EVIL. but it is not possible. the King of the universe send us those rats like ahmed tibi, IMAH SHEMO VEZIKHRO VEZARO VEZERA ZARO SHEM RESHA’IM YIRKAV LE’OLAM VA’ED AMEN KEN YEHI RATSON, in order to FORCE US TO UNDERSTAND AND TO ACKNOWLEDGE that the difference between good and evil is on the MORAL level and this moral level is not formal but rather parts from absolute and transcedental values. FORMALISM IS IMMANENT NIHILISM, and MORAL IS TRANSCENDENT. without a transcendent revelation it is not possible to distinguish between good and evil. tell me for instance, from a purely formal point of view, what is the difference between the Shoah and the genocide we comitted against the canaanites and the amalekites and the peoples in persia during Purim? a famous american interview asked Rabbi Me’ir Kahana HY”D what is the difference between the Jews and the nazis: you both are against mixed marriages, you both think you are superior, you both committed genocides etc… WELL THE ONLY VALID ANSWER IS THE FOLLOWING: the nazis are wrong and we are right independently of the similarities of some aspects of our ideologies.
hitler, IMAH SHEMO VEZIKHRO SHEM RESHA’IM YIRKAV LE’OLAM VA’ED AMEN KEN YEHI RATSON, wrote in his famous book JIHADI (which means in german “mein kampf”, for those who do not understand arabic) that western civilisation is based on two pilars: science and moral, the greeks gave us the science and the Jews the moral, but the moral weakens the forces of life, and therefore the Jews have to be eliminated for as long as the Jews exist moral will exist as well.
science is formal.
moral is Jewish.
Hi, Tar Yag
I try to lay off the “Ymach shmo”s. Hashem will do the “ymaching”, and that’s good enough for me. (I just hope He doesn’t ymach my own shmo, just on general principles).
You are correct, in saying that Etsel used terrorism. The allies also committed “genocide” in Tokyo, Dresden and many places during WWII but as you pointed out in the “terrorism” case, the application of the term is a formality. Taken in contect, Etsel’s “terrorism” was used to drive out the British and establish a Jewish homeland. In light of the dire needs of the Jewish people for a homeland at the time, especially with the backdrop of the Holocaust, that terrorism was justified. The Arabs today are worthy of condemnation for THEIR terrorism not because terrorism is evil per se, but because it is not justified: They do not lack a homeland, nor are they in danger of ethnic extinction as the Jews were: The Arabs in Israel could all pack their bags today and move to Arab countries with higher standards of living. King David was condemned by the prophet because he took the only wife of Uriah, even though he had many wives of his own. That Bible story addresses the issues of today better than any self-righteous, New-Agey definition of “terrorism”. Thanks for the good comment.
Ted, the drjb is sounding like Haim Pupic that you kicked off the web site. Sounds just like the A—-.
