McCain likes America, Obama wants to change America

Melanie Phillips asks Is America really going to do this,

[..] No, the only way to assess their position is to look at each man in the round, at what his general attitude is towards war and self-defence, aggression and appeasement, the values of the west and those of its enemies and – perhaps most crucially of all – the nature of the advisers and associates to whom he is listening. As I have said before, I do not trust McCain; I think his judgment is erratic and impetuous, and sometimes wrong. But on the big picture, he gets it. He will defend America and the free world whereas Obama will undermine them and aid their enemies.

Here’s why. McCain believes in protecting and defending America as it is. Obama tells the world he is ashamed of America and wants to change it into something else. McCain stands for American exceptionalism, the belief that American values are superior to tyrannies. Obama stands for the expiation of America’s original sin in oppressing black people, the third world and the poor.

Obama thinks world conflicts are basically the west’s fault, and so it must right the injustices it has inflicted. That’s why he believes in ‘soft power’ — diplomacy, aid, rectifying ‘grievances’ (thus legitimising them, encouraging terror and promoting injustice) and resolving conflict by talking. As a result, he will take an axe to America’s defences at the very time when they need to be built up. He has said he will ‘cut investments in unproven missile defense systems’; he will ‘not weaponize space’; he will ‘slow our development of future combat systems’; and he will also ‘not develop nuclear weapons,’ pledging to seek ‘deep cuts’ in America’s arsenal, thus unilaterally disabling its nuclear deterrent as Russia and China engage in massive military buildups. [..]

Its a brilliant essay.

  1. Well now that we have heard from non-voting non-Americvan citizens, this in part is what The presitigious Washington Post has to say “…Palinized itself to make the most of its last asset. To fire up the Republican base, the McCain team has hit at Barack Obama as an alien, a radical and a socialist.

Sure enough, the base has responded. After months and months of wan enthusiasm among Republicans, these last weeks have at last energized the core of the party. But there’s a downside: The very same campaign strategy that has belatedly mobilized the Republican core has alienated and offended the great national middle, which was the only place where the 2008 election could have been won.

I could pile up the poll numbers here, but frankly . . . it’s too depressing. You have to go back to the Watergate era to see numbers quite so horrible for the GOP.

McCain’s awful campaign is having awful consequences down the ballot. I spoke a little while ago to a senior Republican House member. “There is not a safe Republican seat in the country,” he warned. “I don’t mean that we’re going to lose all of them. But we could lose any of them…

  3. Why, Tar Yag? We’ve had much worse throughout history from Rome/Edom than the US, which for the most part has been a haven for Jews. As much as I’m disgusted by the US’s treatment of Israel, it doesn’t measure up to the damage Europe has caused us - for 2000 years.

How about a bit of Hakarat Hatov?

  4. 35% of the American electorate vote Republican even if the candidate was Mickey Mouse.

35% Of the American electorate vote Democratic even if the candidate was Donald Duck.

It is the 30% of the undecided that is up for grabs and to date it seems they are voting Obama.

Now and for the 10 days the prime issue is the economy, stupid.

Good clip, now that we know who and what he is, it comes down to a matter of price. Looks like he is in with a landslide.

re: ideology, I always thought that the concept of pursuit of happiness (embedded in the American ethos) was predicated on insuring equal opportunity and not equal distribution of existing and future wealth.

Since taken to it’s lowest common denominator individual self interest a convincing promise of attaining more or keeping more of what is important to most people should trump any other individual consideration. Remember a chicken in every pot to those with either no pots or chickens is hard to resist. In the final analysis, in democracies a vote for someone is really a vote against someone as well. I would go with the negative input of McCain Palin more than positive input of BHO. I learned more from Israpundit than all the candidates and main stream media outlets. Then again like the peskins, never let facts or negatives get in the way of their closed impervious little minds. What puzzels me is that those like the Peskins screw up Game Theory which is predicated on people choosing based on perceived self interests. I still fail to see what are their perceived self interests? EXCEPTIONS TO EVERY RULE I GUESS. OR? Just plain stupid.

    ARE THE MASSES REALLY ASSES?

Take it from us, folks in the US, it will be most painful.

His plans far exceed the narrow frontiers of America. He is an ideologue with a global agenda and hoped for global reach.

  10. Looks like we will have a change of government coinciding with America’s: This should make for an interesting dynamic.

Will our electorate mirror Americas? Maybe?

  11. Latest JPost headline, from the holy land of the stupid Jews: Polls: Kadima to get 29-31 seats, Likud 26-29, Labor just 11.

There’s a talkback there that equates the people to battered wife syndrome. Reminds me of this old article by Alan Perlman: Arafat’s battered wives.

  13. Yes, there are a few different versions of America:

    1. That America was and is a Judeo-Christian country which ought to have a government representative of Jews and Christians dedicated to the Torah Law, the Prophets of Israel and Judah, and Biblical teachings.

    2. That America is governed by elitist Freemasons who are dedicated to a pagan New Age utopia, and although there are Christian and Jewish Freemasons in government, they still seek to unite their Fraternity under the all roads lead to the same god U.N. flag

    3. That America is a Democratic National Convention where we arm our enemies, give our enemies the ability to buy and sell American corporations, land, and power seats, thus, eliminating the national identity of America and replacing it with a Socialist/Communist, Fascist, Islamic, Anarchist point of view governed by witches, satanists, pagans, Islamists, and everything opposite of a Judeo-Christian country.

    4. Then there is America #4, which is the odd combination of foreigners, illegals, and poor people who just want to earn an honest living and really don’t like any of the three above Americas.

Israel ought to be and should be emphatically a Torah Law based government, while the United States government should be a Judeo-Christian government and if Democrats don’t like that, then we can opt to send them to either China, Russia, or some Islamic country where democrats would be welcomed with open arms!
