Eldad: Put Barak on Trial for Aiding Enemy

by Maayana Miskin

(IsraelNN.com) MK Aryeh Eldad (HaTikvah) has requested that Attorney General Menachem Mazuz look into Defense Minister Ehud Barak’s decision to allow supplies to enter Gaza. According to Eldad, Barak should be brought to trial for assisting the enemy in a time of war.

Barak decided Friday to allow 90 trucks carrying food, medicine and fuel to enter Gaza via Israeli crossings in the western Negev. The trucks were allowed to pass despite dozens of rocket and mortar shell attacks from Gaza over the past two days.

Barak’s decision is criminal, Eldad said Friday. “There’s no way to define this other than abetting the enemy in a time of war, and whoever does so must be brought to trial,” he stated.

Barak has frequently allowed aid into Gaza despite rocket attacks, and Israel continues to supply most of Gaza’s electricity. In a controversial move, Barak recently allowed a large shipment of cash to enter Gaza as well in order to save Gaza banks, which were at risk of collapse due to the lack of currency.

Barak and other ministers who favor the shipments to Gaza say the aid is necessary in order to prevent a humanitarian crisis in an area where most residents rely on international aid. The United Nations has put heavy pressure on Israel to open crossings despite rocket attacks in order to keep its Gaza aid program from encountering food shortages.

Eldad has previous called to enforce laws that he says are violated by Israeli politicians in the name of negotiations and peace. Earlier this year Eldad called for politicians who agree to give territory to Syria to face the death penalty. Giving up the Golan would be treason under Israel’s criminal legislation, he explained.

Regarding Gaza, Eldad has stated that he favors allowing Arab residents of the area who do not support terrorism to voluntarily relocate to Jordan and other Arab countries.

  1. If you go after Barak, you must go after Olmert, Livni, etc.

Not that I am opposed to that.

  2. So little readers and most commentators know beyond the available headlines….Barak plans a major Gaza thrust to coincide with the elections here. He has been holding off for some to in order to gain max personal and political benefit from Gaza planned invasion or incursion. Timing for him is critical and it is a toss up as to who would benefit him and labor more,Loyal Israeli Jewish Public if he attacks or the 25% Israeli Arab labor supporters who might vote for another party if he does attack Gaza. It will be the elections and the private polls here that determine in the end the: If, How and when Israel attacks Gaza and the scope, if Israel does indeed attack. In Israel decisions are made from internal Israeli pressures not so much from outside pressure but from indigenous local pressure.

  3. We live in a wacky world: the world is on Israel’s back and ripping it apart for the phantom “embargo” which does not exist and the truth is that Israel continues to supply the terrorists and fuel the terrorism and the war against its own country with all kinds of supplies and services.

This clash of lies with reality is another example of how the press refuses to be fair and objective when it comes to Israel. It also points out that all the appeasement and sucking up to the world (by showing how humanitarian Israel is) does nothing to improve Israel’s image.

The policy of accepting an unacceptable threshold level of terror and bombs from Hamas only encourages more of the same and the threshold is now rising to a point where the forces of evil become unstoppable or are only stopped at an enormous cost in lives. Israel needs to adopt a zero tolerance policy when it comes to terrorism and missiles.

  4. Yamit:

If you are correct (and I have no reason to doubt you) this could really backfire on Barak if the US pressures Israel and Israel withdraws. Therefore I believe one of two things must be true:

    1) Israel will ignore outside pressure for the first time in a long time and do what needs to be done. This is a good thing.
    2) The Gaza thrust is planned on being limited in the first place, possibly to get approval of Bush (and maybe Obama, but I doubt it) in advance. This would be a bad thing.

  5. The Israel project is giving a soapbox in the form of an internet news conference to PM Olmert’s spokesman, Mark Regev, on Monday, the 29th. On the RSVP to this internet news conference, I posed two questions. “Why are PM Olmert and FM Livni courting world opinion on a possible Gaza incursion as the causus belli - the near constant rain of Kassems and Grad rockets launched by Palestinian Islamic Jihad (PIJ) and Hamas fall on Southern Israeli cities like Ashkelon and Western Negev towns like Sderot and kibbutzim and the kidnapping of IDF Sgt. Gilad Shalit? What assurances can the waning Kadima led government give that IDF COS Ashkenazi won’t repeat the 2006 Southern Lebanon debacle criticized by the Winograd Commission, as well as ineffective raids in force on Northern Gaza?” Olmert seems more intent by going on Arab satellite Al -Arabiya TV to plead with Gazan Arabs to stop the PIJ and Hamas rocket onslaught, while DM Barak sends hundreds of millions of shekels, food and other humanitarian aid and forgot to turn out the power supplied by Israel from those power plants in besieged Ashkelon? My friend Arieh Eldad is correct. Barak should be prosecuted for treason, a strange fate for a former COS and fabled Sayeret commando, but illustrative as to how low the esteem of those on the left in Israel have fallen in the run up to the February 10th general elections, given recent poll results in Israel. They all have forgotten the historic lessons of the Maccabees in these last few days of Hanukkah. Note this from Va-yarev kavod l’amo from the Megillah Hanukkah 3:3-9 Judah Maccabee “increased his people’s glory far and wide”. As I read at the candle lighting for the Fifth night”: “Judah won many battles and secured victory for our people. In a world filled with evil, the Maccabees enabled our people to stand tall.” If only Israel political and military leadership would heed these timeless sentiments of resolve to protect and defend the Jewish people. The clock is ticking on a massive Gaza incursion. If only the spirit of the Maccabees could infuse the IDF leadership to strike a massive blow against The Jihadis in Gaza. We trust that all IDF soldiers, airmen and navy personnel know what is their duty to defend and vanquish the enemy. It is the callowness of Israeli political leadership and some careerists in IDF that we question.

  6. The term ‘battered woman syndrome’ was coined by psychologist and prominent
feminist academic, Lenore Walker, to denote a set of distinct psychological and
behavioural symptoms that result from prolonged exposure to situations of
    intimate partner violence.

Walker hypothesised that spousal abuse generally occurred in cycles
characterised by varying degrees of severity.
She argued that in the first ‘tension
building’ stage, the victim will be exposed to verbal and/or emotional abuse and
minor incidents of physical violence, such as slapping. In response, the victim
may attempt to pacify their abuser utilising techniques which have been effective
    in the past.

Walker theorised that although the woman’s primary objective is to
avoid future conflict and her actions during this phase are aimed at furthering this
objective, her passivity will most often reinforce the abusers violent tendencies
and the tension in the relationship will continue to build until it culminates in the
second stage – the acute battering incident.
    Although Walker acknowledged that
the severity of violence used in this phase would vary, she argued it was at this
time that a victim’s sense of fear and perceptions of danger were at their most
heightened state as was the risk of death or serious injury.

Although it was not clear from the results of the study precisely
how many times a victim must go through this cycle before they might be
classified as suffering from BWS, Walker has since argued that once is sufficient
for symptoms characteristic of the syndrome to appear and for the victim to fall
into patterns of behaviour she identified as indicative of “learned helplessness”.

Based on a study conducted with laboratory animals whereby the animal was
repeatedly and non-contingently shocked until they became unable to escape the
painful situation, the theory argued that the reason the animals failed to attempt to
escape, even when escape was both possible and readily apparent to animals
who had not undergone the previous shock treatment, could be found in their
distorted perceptions of one’s capacity to alter their position. These distorted
perceptions, according to Seligman, resulted from an inability to predict the
    efficacy of one’s actions.

Drawing from Seligman’s work, Walker hypothesised that continual exposure to battering,
like electric shocks, would, over time, diminish a woman’s motivation to respond and
produce the same kinds of cognitive, behavioural and motivational responses.

(Avot 1:18), “On three things does the world stand: justice, truth and peace.” And no less than four tractates (Berachot, Yevamot, Nazir and Keritut) conclude as follows:

“Rabbi Elazar said in the name of Rabbi Chanina, ‘Torah scholars increase peace throughout the world, for it says (Isaiah 54:13), ‘All you children shall be taught by the L-rd, and great shall be the peace of your children.’”

33 Therefore thus saith the LORD concerning the king of Assyria: He shall not come unto this city, nor shoot an arrow there, neither shall he come before it with shield, nor cast a mound against it. 34 By the way that he came, by the same shall he return, and he shall not come unto this city, saith the LORD. 35 For I will defend this city to save it, for Mine own sake, and for My servant David’s sake.’ {S} 36 And the angel of the LORD went forth, and smote in the camp of the Assyrians a hundred and fourscore and five thousand; and when men arose early in the morning, behold, they were all dead corpses. 37 So Sennacherib king of Assyria departed, and went, and returned, and dwelt at Nineveh. 38 And it came to pass, as he was worshipping in the house of Nisroch his god, that Adrammelech and Sarezer his sons smote him with the sword; and they escaped into the land of Ararat. And Esarhaddon his son reigned in his stead. {S} Isiah 37

31 For out of Jerusalem shall go forth a remnant, and out of mount Zion they that shall escape; the zeal of the LORD of hosts shall perform this. {S} 32 Therefore thus saith the LORD concerning the king of Assyria: He shall not come unto this city, nor shoot an arrow there, neither shall he come before it with shield, nor cast a mound against it. 33 By the way that he came, by the same shall he return, and he shall not come unto this city, saith the LORD. 34 For I will defend this city to save it, for Mine own sake, and for My servant David’s sake.’ 35 And it came to pass that night, that the angel of the LORD went forth, and smote in the camp of the Assyrians a hundred fourscore and five thousand; ( After the death of Sargon in 705, Hezekiah joined the rebellion against Assyria initiated by Merodach-Balaban of Chaldea with the support of Egypt. Hezekiah prepared for the worst by building up the fortifications of Jerusalem and ensuring its water supply by digging a tunnel from the Gihon spring to the Siloam pool inside the walls of the city (II Kings 20:20; II Chr. 32:30; Isa. 22:9-11). Sennacherib entered Judah in 701 and boasted of capturing 46 cities, including Lachish, and deporting 200,150 captives, but Jerusalem held fast and the seige of the city was raised after the Assyrian army was decimated by disease (killing 185,000 Assyrians according to II Kings 19:35 and Isaiah 37:36) and Hezekiah paid a large tribute. After Hezekiah’s death, Judah remained a vassal of Assyria and pagan shrines were restored. and when men arose early in the morning, behold, they were all dead corpses.) 36 So Sennacherib king of Assyria departed, and went and returned, and dwelt at Nineveh. 37 And it came to pass, as he was worshipping in the house of Nisroch his god, that Adrammelech and Sarezer his sons smote him with the sword; and they escaped into the land of Ararat. And Esarhaddon his son reigned in his stead.

    2nd kings 19:

We have to realize that the non-Jew who goes to war against Israel is our enemy and not our friend. How unaware people are nowadays of this simple yet profound principle! Our sages also said (Sifri, Shoftim 192):

“You are going to war against your enemies and not against your brethren. It is not Judah against Simeon or Simeon against Judah such that if you fall captive they will have mercy on you… It is against your ENEMIES that you are waging war. If you fall into their hands, they will show you no mercy.”

G-d is described as follows (Ex. 15:3): “The L-rd is the Master of war, ‘Hashem’ is His name.” Despite His name being “Hashem,” a name indicating mercy, He is still “Master of war.” That same Hashem of mercy is also a Master of war against the wicked. Our sages likewise said (Mechilta, Beshalach, Mesechet Deshira 4):

“‘The L-rd is the Master of war, Hashem is His name’: R. Yehuda says, ‘Such imagery appears throughout Scripture. G-d appeared to Israel with every weapon. He appeared as a warrior with a sword (Ps. 45:4)… as a horseman (II Kings 2:12)… in armor and helmet (Isaiah 59:17)… with bow and arrow (Ps. 45:4)… with shield and breastplate (Ps. 35:2)… Lest I think G-d needs any of these attributes, it says ‘The L-rd is Master of war. Hashem is His name.’ He fights with His name and needs none of these. Why then did Scripture have to specify each separately?

To underscore that G-d fights wars for Israel when they need it, and to inform the nations of the dreadful news that He Whose word created the Universe shall fight them in the future.”

(Isaiah 48:22), “The L-rd says to the wicked, ‘There is no peace.’”

Who won the “covenant of peace,” the everlasting reward of peace, if not Pinchas? Pinchas acted zealously on G-d’s behalf, taking G-d’s revenge, and becoming the first mashuach milchamah, or kohen anointed to lead the nation in war (Deut. 20:2-4). Yet G-d said (Num. 25:12), “Tell him that I have given him My covenant of PEACE.”

Here we have a reward well-suited to the deed. Precisely he who gives up his peace and tranquility, devoting himself to G-d’s battle and to taking G-d’s revenge, merits everlasting peace. And precisely he who rebels against G-d, treating His command to fight and root out evil and evildoers with contempt, will never have peace, for there is no peace to the wicked

The nation of Israel must return to her historical, spiritual and national roots. It is a complete package.

Enough with worrying over world opinion and caving in to international pressure. Not one of these countries that make demands upon Israel would tolerate rockets and other acts of war against themselves. They certainly wouldn’t be providing their enemy with the means to continue the ability to wage war. Israel is under no obligation to allow money and supplies through to Gaza while it is under attack by its regime. How dare the international community demand that it does and how dare the weak Israeli government oblige and put its own citizens in mortal danger!

  12. The fourth Geneva Convention, which Israel is a signatory of contends that all occupied people are to have their needs met by the occupying forces.

Israel argues that it is no longer bound by the laws of occupation since it redeployed its forces to the perimeter of the Gaza strip since 2005. There is no country that accepts this claim since occupation is defined by whether there is effective control maintained of the territory in question. Since Israel has total control of Gaza’s land, air, and sea space, has control of Gaza’s fresh water supplies, electrical grid and most medical and other vital services, Israel’s case is weak and knows it.

In today’s economic climate, Israel can hardly afford to violate its written agreement and accept the consequences which would inevitably follow such a breach.

I don’t think Barack need worry. Most Israel watchers regard Eldad as a minor player with a rather slim following.

  14. I see the foul air is blowing in again from Dubrovnik.

    1) As Egypt shares a border with Gaza (and quite a porous one as evidenced by the massive influx of Iranian weapons over the last couple of years), Israel has neither control over nor responsibility for Gaza.
    2) A de facto state of war exists between Israel and the Palestinian Arabs. Israel would be well within her rights to — and has been foolish not to — switch off the lights in Gaza.
    3) In view of daily Palestinian rocketing of civilian communities and the strategic use of human shields, the Geneva Conventions permit Israel — if she chose — to completely level Gaza as an act of self-defense in full accordance with international law.

Israel would never embark on such an act of devastating vengeance because she values human life above all else while the 7th century barbarians in Gaza lust for blood and worship death. And at the end of the day, that is what this conflict is all about.

  15. To the Meteorologist observing Dubrovnik: If you had the least bit awareness of the mideast
situation you would know that Israel has joint control with Egypt of the Gaza-Egypt border crossing.

Israel does value human life but it also values its standing in the world and the potential economic and political losses if it disobeys the people that count in Washington, Brussels,London, Paris, etc.

  16. Israel has joint control with Egypt of the Gaza-Egypt border crossing

    No.

Only the propagandist “news” sources that you follow suggest this.

Any remaining doubts about who was left in control of the crossing were dispelled on Dec. 3, 2007, when, to Israeli dismay, Egypt and Hamas negotiated and oversaw the passage of 700 Palestinians into Egypt through Rafah. The following day, another 1,000 Palestinians crossed over. An exasperated Israel, worried that the breakdown of the international APRC agreement would allow known terrorists to easily leave Gaza, train with sophisticated militants in Iran or Lebanon and reenter Gaza to launch attacks against its citizens, could only lodge a complaint with the Egyptians.

  17. Peskin: the last time I looked Israel does not occupy Gaza and one of the main reasons for IDF not doing their sworn duty is the fear of having to reoccupy that cesspool of human offal. We ethnically cleansed Gaza (removed by force JEWS) removed the IDF allowed them against our objections to THE BLACK PLAGUE(RICE), elections with hand on oversight by that paragon of objectivity, honesty and protector of all Arab and Muslim rights ( he is paid handsomely for his services) Jimmy (who) Carter. What did those intelligent democrats do with their newfound American dictated fair election(democratic) rights? They voted for Hamas whose main reason for existence is the total destruction and murder if the can every Jew here.

According to latest News here we are days or weeks ahead of Israeli major offensive in Gaza and no EU or American Leader is in favor of this, so when it does happen what will that do to your embedded (in concrete it seems) position that we continue to allow those Neanderthals to continue to either kill and destroy lives on our side of the Gazan border with us. I would starve them all.Any move against Israel by any nation to sanction Israel, I would do same to Arabs in Both Y&S as well as Gaza. I would love to see which cowards in the west would go to the wall for the Arabs here. I don’t see anyone risking lives or fortunes for those MAGGOTS. Do you ? Who would you suggest? Canada? Ha Ha!
