Israel’s long-overdue strike against Hamas: A time for war
By Andrew L. Jaffee, netwmd.com
There is an appointed time for everything. And there is a time for every event under heaven…
A time for war and a time for peace. …
Echoing the Old Testament’s verses from Ecclesiastes regarding Israel’s massive offensive against Hamas terrorists today, Defense Minister Ehud Barak said, “There is a time for calm and there is a time for fighting, and now is the time for fighting.” Hamas, and possibly other Palestinian terrorist groups, have launched approximately 300 rockets and mortars into southern Israel just during the past week. Previously, Gaza terrorists have fired more than 2,300 rockets and mortars into Israel since since January 2008, and launched at least 2,000 at the Jewish State in 2007. Any other democratic nation faced with a rain of terrorist projectiles aimed at its civilian population would be expected to act forcibly to stop such attacks, yet once again many in the “international community” are pressuring Israel to show “restraint.” This is not like Mumbai in late November, where India is still trying to figure out exactly who planned and executed the terrorists attacks. Palestinian terrorists work out in the open, flaunting international law, when they launch their lethal projectiles against Israeli civilians. According to the AP:
… The [Israeli] offensive [against Hamas in Gaza] sparked angry protests throughout the Arab world, and British Prime Minister Gordon Brown, the Vatican, the U.N. secretary-general and special Mideast envoy Tony Blair all called for an immediate restoration of calm. The Arab League scheduled an emergency meeting Sunday to discuss the situation. …
The “international community” is once again holding Israel to a standard which no other nation would be expected to adhere to. Good thing Israel is ignoring these calls, and is exercising its right to self-defense:
Israeli warplanes retaliating for rocket fire from the Gaza Strip pounded dozens of security compounds across the Hamas-ruled territory in unprecedented waves of airstrikes Saturday, killing more than 200 people and wounding nearly 400 in the single bloodiest day of fighting in years. …
It doesn’t matter that Hamas was elected to govern “Palestine.” Hamas doesn’t act like a civilized and responsible government. Just yesterday, Palestinians militants fired a rocket that killed 2 Palestinian schoolgirls. Hamas violently seized total control of Gaza in 2007 despite agreeing with Fatah “to form a national unity government.” From GlobalSecurity.org:
… The accord was signed by PA President and Fatah leader Mahmoud Abbas and Hamas political leader Khalid Mish’al in Mecca, Saudi Arabia, after two days of talks under the auspices of Saudi King Abdullah. …
The civil war between Fatah and Hamas caused scores of Palestinian civilian deaths, with hundreds wounded. This is not governing; this is a gang-style power-grab.
Hamas, by its own admission, has violated the terms of a ceasefire accord which it agreed to with Israel in June:
… “We cannot talk about stopping [arms] smuggling because it is something beyond our ability as a government and we did not give a commitment in this regard,” [Hamas Prime Minister Ismail] Haniyeh told worshippers before Friday prayers in Gaza City.
Haniyeh also said Hamas would not to impose the truce by force on other Gaza militant groups, but added that other groups had agreed to the deal voluntarily. …
Hamas controls Gaza without question, so it should be able to stop arms smuggling. Hamas certainly could stop other terrorist groups from operating within Gaza, as the group was able to kick Fatah out of the Palestinian territory. Just six days after the ceasefire was agreed to, “at least two rockets were fired [by Palestinian militants] from Gaza” at the southern Israeli city of Sderot.
On the other hand, Israel has tried to adhere to its part of the ceasefire agreement. On November 11th:
Israeli Defence Minister Ehud Barak has agreed to partially lift Israel’s suspension of fuel supplies to the only power plant in the Gaza Strip.
The facility shut on Monday a week after Israel stopped fuel in response to rocket attacks from Hamas. …
On December 10th:
… despite the continuing Kassam fire, [Israeli Defense Minister Ehud] Barak decided to keep the crossings into Gaza open and approved the transfer of NIS 100 million in cash from Palestinian banks in the West Bank to the Gaza Strip. …
Just yesterday:
Israel is sending food into the Hamas-ruled Gaza Strip while threatening an invasion. But Hamas is not backing down.
Israel reopened border crossings and sent basic food and supplies into Gaza. The army said 90 trucks crossed the border carrying rice, flour, fuel and medicine. The border crossings have been closed since a six-month Gaza cease-fire expired a week ago. Since then, Palestinian militants have bombarded southern Israel with dozens of rockets and mortar shells. …
According to the BBC:
… Israel said it initially began a staged easing of the blockade, but this was halted when Hamas failed to fulfil what Israel says were agreed conditions, including ending all rocket fire and halting weapons smuggling.
Note that Israel, as usual, is doing its best to strike only military targets, according to today’s BBC:
… Most of those killed were policemen in the Hamas militant movement, which controls Gaza, but women and children also died, Gaza officials said. …
One would think that Israel’s unilateral withdrawal from Gaza in 2005 after 38 years of occupation, a key and long-standing Palestinian demand, would’ve lead to peace, but:
… the withdrawal did not lead to better relations with Palestinians in the territory as Israeli officials had hoped.
Instead, the evacuation was followed by a sharp rise in militant attacks on Israeli border communities that on several occasions provoked harsh Israeli military reprisals.
No matter how many compromises Israel makes, as Hamas violates agreements, and rockets continue to rain down on southern Israel, the Jewish State has been left with no option except massive military force in order to protect its civilian population. Enough is enough. There can be no hope for Israel to negotiate with Hamas, as the group’s founding charter states:
… The time will not come until Muslims will fight the Jews (and kill them); until the Jews hide behind rocks and trees, which will cry: O Muslim! there is a Jew hiding behind me, come on and kill him! …
The charter also states that Hamas:
… “strives to raise the banner of Allah over every inch of Palestine” and sees “no solution for the Palestinian question except through Jihad [holy war]” …
Make no mistake: Israel is doing the right thing. She is protecting her very existence. At least Israel has one stalwart ally, the U.S., which happens to be the most powerful nation on Earth:
… It was “completely unacceptable” for Hamas, which controls Gaza, to launch attacks on Israel after a truce lasting several months, said Gordon Johndroe, a spokesman for the National Security Council.
“These people are nothing but thugs, so Israel is going to defend its people against terrorists like Hamas that indiscriminately kill their own people,” Johndroe said in Texas as President George W. Bush was spending the week before New Year’s at his ranch here. “They need to stop. We have said in the past that they have a choice to make. You can’t have one foot in politics and one foot in terror.” …
“The United States strongly condemns the repeated rocket and mortar attacks against Israel and holds Hamas responsible for breaking the cease-fire and for the renewal of violence in Gaza,” Rice said in a statement. …
Israel has the green light from its most important ally, and I doubt that will change with the new administration.
I predict that President-Elect Obama will be a stalwart ally of Israel, despite my previous misgivings. His reaching out to Joe Lieberman and his selection of a politically broad-based and highly-experienced cabinet are evidence that he will be a mainstream leader, reflecting the majority of Americans’ sympathy towards Israel.

The optimism expressed by Jaffee regarding the next administration is unwarranted and reckless. Ettinger, in the preceding article, is more apprehensive – and even he is taken to task by commenter Charles Martel for discounting the threat. We agree with Martel. Israel beware.
As usual Jaffee attempts to put a happy face on a situation that has been brought about more by Israeli imbecility wrongheadedness and even PERFIDY. Start with faulty conceptions evacuating Gaza both of our best citizens (ethnic cleansing) giving the Philidelpi corridor to Palis and Egypt to administer with Israel no power or authority nor control) agreeing to Intl. observers to oversee crossings (they run or don’t show up at best and are intimidated by Palis at worst. Not retaking Gaza after the first rockets were fired ( a week after final act of disengagement. ) subjecting our civilian populations to endure thousands of hits by Gazans, that aside from the deaths and maiming of our citizens breached our national sovereignty almost on a daily basis with almost no response. For a normal country this would have been an act of war and answered in kind but not our political, traitorous, criminal invertebrates. Gilad Shalit, almost 2 years in captivity being kept just hundreds of meters from our borders and IDF is left to rot while our pygmy leadership releases for no apparent reason( One that makes sense) hundreds of terrorists from our lockups without quid pro quo or linkage to Shalit. None can convince me that our intel services who know when the Hamas leades go to the toilet don’t know where Shalit is and if they do know why was no extraction attempted. His life in a national sense is meaningless but the failure to get him back is criminal. The same goes for Pollard and other MIA”S still missing. Sharon and Olmerts governments are bad but are not alone, Begin was the worst and we have been ever since trying to emulate his senile and traitorous actions. He set the precedents the the prices we are paying ever since.
No doubt it is the stinking Arabs who are trying to murder us but they have till now willing partners who have turned a blind eye to their actions and intentions towards us and whats worse we were their Godfather in their genesis. We allowed them into the Country , gave them legitimacy, allowed their leaders to steal hundreds of billions of Dollars from us and their people. We helped to train their terrorists, we supplied them with weapons, We continue to give them free electricity, water, telephone services, medical aid, we committed to purchase their agricultural produce(of dubious quality as they use sewage water to irrigate) at the expense of our own struggling farmers. We allowed hundreds of thousands of them to work in Israel at the expense of many workers in same trade by Israeli Jews. They pay no taxes but get some social benefits at least by law. This is only A partial list of our perfidy and stupidity, others I am sure can add to it. So who is responsible? The one trying to kill us of course, but they have had many willing Israeli accomplices over the years THEN AND IN OUR OWN TIME. Jaffee overlooks cause and effect and Israels complicity in bringing about a situation where any rational and sane being could have seen the writing on the wall even before the first errors were made Begins ceding all of Sinai including Taba to Egypt. It’s been a down hill slide ever since.
Jaffee’s use of Lieberman to prove Hussein Obamas good will towards Jews and demonstrates a political move to the center is laughable and if that’s the best he can come up with he is delusional. Even if Obama was involved with allowing Joe the Jewish senator to keep his chairmanship ( not convinced) It cost him nothing and proves nothing)
Kadima has done the right action in attacking Hamas, but for the wrong reasons. Surely you don’t take this at face value!! After 4 years of Kadima doing nothing, why have they chosen now to act? Surely Kadima sees that it is losing the election to either Likud or right wing candidates . Kadima has killed 200 Palestinians so that it will win the election and give away more of Israel. Neither a leopard nor Kadima can change its spots
This is one War I would like to be in Isreal for! Why are people ignorant on the defination of “Hamas” – ‘Terrorist’. Hamas and Usupers of Peace, you have got to be so ignorant to send your children to Hell on a Suicide Sled! GOD The Great Spirit, The All Light, NEVER Came to Earth to Let Blood. So stop letting it yourself! You think your acts make martars? My God, Who Is Real, commands us to Choose Life and Goodness. Keep on choosing Badness and Death, go ahead, then and get it; stop crabbing about it, just keep lofting those rockets – NOT. At least your children will not be taught such hatred any more; Or is it you want Free Death. As Yamit82, above described, what else can you get for free that you aren’t already receiving. I wondered why the Gaza was abandonded a few years back. Hamas and Hezabolla as it were. But, this is really making it a more honorable suicide for the Hamas; just think, taking all those innocent Children who are nothing but servent slaves to Death Dealers. Like the slaves of the Pharoahs, murdered and sacrificed in the tombs. How Glorious, NOT. Gaza, Don’t make me Puke. Go Is Real!!!!!!!!
Rose Bud Remembered.
Yamit,
The probability that Obama will support Israel against Islamists is very low. Investigative journalist Jared Israel is writing a series on the relationship between Obama and the Weathermen terrorists in the US. It is NOT a coincidence that the NYT and all major American media have been whitewashing Bill Ayers’s terrorist past since someone blew the whistle about Obama’s treif past, his relationship to the Weathermen, etc.
This issue is way more serious than it might appear to be. Here is the link again: http://emperors-clothes.com/exhumed.htm

“A four-month ceasefire between Israel and Palestinian militants in Gaza was in jeopardy today after Israeli troops killed six Hamas gunmen in a raid into the territory”
WHY REPORTS NOW KEEP TELLING LIES THAT THE PALESTINIANS BROKE THE CEASEFIRE WHEN IT WAS ISRAEL. ALSO IF A GUY PUNCHES YOU ON THE STREET YOU HAVE THE RIGHT TO DEFEND YOURSELF BY PUNCHING BACK NOT BY SHOOTING THE GUY DEAD. BUT WHEN IT COMES TO ISRAEL IT IS OK FOR THEM USE FIGHTER JETS TO KILL HUNDREDS OF PEOPLE WHEN SOME PALESTINIANS SEND SOME ROCKETS OR EVEN THROUGH STONES.
LIES AND MORE LIES IN THE MASS MEDIA, JUST LIKE THE LIES OF WMD IN IRAQ AND 9/11 CHECK: http://blip.tv/file/306082/
IT IS OK TO FOR JEWS LIKE Maxwell, and now Bernard Madoff TO STEAL $BILLIONS AND SEND TO ISRAEL AND NO ONE IS ALLOWED TO MENTION THE WORD “ISRAEL” WHERE ELSE IS THE MONEY GONE? YET ISRAEL WANTS SUPPORT FROM ALL AS IF IT IS THE VICTIM EACH TIME ANYTHING HAPPENS.
THE WORLD GET REAL, WHAT HAS ISRAEL GIVEN THE WORLD TO SAY IT IS YOUR FRIEND, OIL?

I say that every time Hamas gathers together for a rally that a bomb should be sent on their parades every time! They should get what they give!
My prayer is for Israel’s safety and security. As I disavow any allegiance to Obama and his appointed goons who are too busy kissing and screwing butt to kick butt, my only advice is the SAMSON OPTION – kill them all! That is prophecy in Ezekiel 38/39 and also Revelation 19 and 20 – Israel must prepare itself to push the button on all enemies, foreign and domestic and say goodbye to them all!
We have a looloo here, folks.
Just for the record, to place posts by lamebrains such as Tony here in context, this is what happened in early November:
IDF leaves Gaza after op, 6 gunmen killed
BTW, the ceasefire was violated by the Arabs when they fired a mortar into Israel on June 23. On the next day, June 24, a Qassam landed in Sderot. On July 13, 2 mortars hit Nachal Oz. On July 25, a Qassam was fired but landed short in Gaza. On August 2, 3 mortars landed in the western Negev. On August 6, a Qassam was fired at the western Negev. The next day, August 7, another Qassam hit the western Negev. On August 9, another Qassam hit the Negev. On August 10, Defence Minister Barak said it was futile to respond to rocket and mortar attacks. On the next day, August 11, a Qassam landed in Sderot. Another Qassam landed in the Negev on August 25. On September 29, a Qassam fell short of its target and landed within Gaza.
I know I’ve missed a few mortar and rocket incidents but the above is sufficient to show the jackassity of huff-n-puff Tony here.
Hey tony how is the Aryan Nation these days?
I am glad you asked this!! First of all where is it written how I am allowed to respond when being punched in the mouth? I view even being punched in the mouth a threat to my physical survival and in turn I use maximum and disproportional force if I can. Then not only do I need worry anymore about the dead puncher but the message goes out not to mess with that maniac who does not take shit from anybody. This Tony is called deterrence. The Americans and Russians have MAD and till now it has worked.
Don’t mess with crazy Jews; we will annihilate you, should be a clear message even to garbage like you. As to 9/11 It was the neo Nazis who did it. Do you know any of them? I am sure you do.
Whatever your positions are, whatever you might think the reasons are or whatever any of you writing posts here think will happen or ought to happen, there is no use in discussing.
WE westerners are finally the ones sending NATO or UN forces and weapons and humanitarian help and money to rebuild (or not), thus the main thing is understanding what WE westerners are being taught via our media:
1.- Nobody knows, thus, nobody cares, about rockets sent by Hamas.
2.- Everybody knows, thus, everybody cares, about disproportionate use of force by the IDF.
Who will be coming to help?
The moderates. Palestinian Authority. The Fatah guys in disguise will reopen a new Oslo Process or the like (in Moscow?, who recently offered to do so?) with our new moderate token Obama.
Give Gaza back to Fatah, give more independence to PA, more settlers away, peace for land, they say.
Then Hamas, in due time, shall win new elections, because, after all, these arabs are –ought to be- democratic guys, and then the gangway Iran-Iraq-Syria/Jordan/Lebanon will be ready.
The moderates’ slideshow was then played at the hostage crises back in Khomeini’s Iran, last year as well with the so-called Hamas/PA clashes… and within few days, when IDF retires after PA assures they will control Gaza Strip.
Great chess move.
In this master’s move, jews will be labeled, even more, as nazi-like children killers, the new israeli government will be labeled as opportunists (by using this attack to obtain votes), and PA/Fatah will make its way further to its leaders thesis’ wolf-in-a-lambs-guise.
And no politician in Israel will be able to help it, wether corrupt or not. It must be here, WE, westerners, who stop our politicians and our media, like in the US in the 40’s. It is the good guys in the west who must understand the socio-economic-political laws hidden in the Torah. Jews already know them. The job has always been here. Not in selfdefense (which I do not reject, but believe insufficient).
When this proves right, within the next weeks, I’ll ask Mr. Belman to help me getting new batts for my crystal ball, which is running dry.
