Turkey: Antisemitism Gets Out of Control
by Jerry Gordon, The Iconoclast

Prof. Barry Rubin of the GLORIA
The message conveyed by Rubin is that the existence of the Turkish Jewish community may be seriously in jeopardy if these reports prove out.
Even the graffiti used by Turks is eerily similar to that of Nazi propaganda minister, the infamous Joseph Goebbels.
Note these:
“Do not buy from here, since this shop is owned by a Jew.” A group put posters on his wall saying that: “Jews and Armenians are not allowed but dogs are allowed.
And not long ago, Turkey’s secularist governments were military allies of Israel. My how things have changed with the onset of Militant Islam in Turkey.
This has been sent to me by a very reliable friend who has agreed to distribution as long as his name is not used. You are invited to post or send to your list. It is not unthinkable that the future of the Turkish Jewish community is in doubt.—Barry Rubin
The Prime Minister in Turkey has encouraged hatred against Israel in his speeches which has become obvious anti-Semitic propaganda among the general public.
There are people around the clock besieging the Israeli consulate in Istanbul shouting their hatred against Israel and Jewish people. All around Istanbul billboards are full of propaganda posters against Israel like; “Moses, even this is not written in your book” and “Israel Stop this Crime.” On the streets the people are writing such graffiti as: “Kill Jews,” “Kill Israel,” “Israel should no longer exist in the Middle East,” and “Stop Israeli Massacre.”
The week-end before, some people wrote, “We will kill you” on the door of one of the biggest synagogues in Izmir resulted in the closing down of synagogues. Near Istanbul University, a group put a huge poster on the door of a shop owned by a Jew: “Do not buy from here, since this shop is owned by a Jew.” A group put posters on his wall saying that: “Jews and Armenians are not allowed but dogs are allowed.” Some young people are even threatening others with violence if they are seen as pro-Israel in social networking websites such as Facebook and Hi5.
The document attached is the official statement by the minister of education stating that tomorrow [January 14] at 11am in all the high schools and primary schools the students will pay homage to the women and children dead during the war and furthermore, the teachers of art will organize the session of painting and writing on the subject: “Humanity Drama in Palestine” and the winners will receive awards.
The Jewish community can do nothing in response to what has been going on for the last few weeks, except giving vague statements that the Turkish Jewish Community does not want the war to be continued any more.
We have previously faced some strong reaction regarding previous operations in Gaza and the West Bank but this time is really different from former ones. I feel open anti-Semitism and hatred from all these people. Nobody understood, Even some widely read columnists in Turkey are writing things that lead all these groups toward this hatred becoming much more dangerous day by day.
But I know one thing: that the world should know about the widespread and openly anti-Semitic propaganda which far exceeds anything happening in Europe.
Right, and the Armenian Holocaust didn’t happen–or, if it happened, no Turks were there–or, if they were there, they were only following orders.

Hmmm: They could do what most Turkish Jews have done since the establishment of Israel some 60 years ago: Get the Hell out or perish. I could say the same about every Jew and Jewish Community in the Galut.

Democrats versus Republicans, muslim version:
Islam generally likes the idea of a strong leader, and democracy has never been well established. The party in power is usually corrupt and tyrannical, so the opposition takes the opposite ideology. When the party in power is secular, the opposition is islamic, and vice-versa.
Turkey started with a corrupt islamic government (the sultan). The opposition (Ataturk) was the most secular muslim government ever. The seculars kept firm control for over 60 years, and formed a weak alliance with Israel. Meantime, islamic opposition movements built up strength in all the Arab countries and Iran, and the Turkish islamists gained strength from it.
The Turkish islamists have now taken control of Turkey. It is still not a very strong control, but is increasing. All islamists have a hatred of Jews and Israel in common. But Arabs also hate Turks for historical reasons. The Turkish islamists are trying to curry favor with the Arabs, but the Arabs are not very receptive. Meantime, the islamic Turkish government did not allow America to enter Iraq from Turkey to depose Saddam Hussein (America allowed them to get away with it), and now Turkey looks like it will break its ties to Israel.
If the Turkish islamists stay in power, they will eventually become an enemy of Israel. This will hurt Israel’s feelings, but I don’t think it will damage Israel too much.
This may free up Israel to make a stronger alliance with the Kurds, but Israel more and more becomes “a nation that dwells alone.” Of its neighbors, the muslim countries hate Israel, christian europe hates Israel, secular liberal europe hates Israel, and Russia hates Israel. (That doesn’t leave much.)

I received this email from Prof. Barry Rubin of GLORIA after I posted this story.
I have forwarded your post and others of this to people in the Turkish Jewish community as an example of international support for their safety. Thanks.

There is a story at the end of Tractate Makkos of Talmud Bavli (Babylonian Talmud) that, like many others, says much more than it seems to be saying. Chazal (Chachamim Zichronam L’Brochah) were unbelievably good at layering meaning in what they taught. The account goes like this:
It happened again that they (Rabban Gamliel, Rebi Elazar ben Azariah, Rebi Yehoshua, and Rebi Akiva) were going to Jerusalem. When they arrived at Har HaTzofim (Mt. Scopus), they tore their clothing (as a sign of mourning over the destruction of the Temple, which could be seen from there). When they reached the Temple Mount and saw a fox coming out from the place where the Holy of Holies had been, they began to cry; Rebi Akiva laughed.
They asked him, “Akiva, why do you laugh?”
He answered them, “Why do you cry?”
They said, “If the prophecy concerning the place which the posuk says, ‘The stranger who approaches (the Holy of Holies) will be put to death’ (Bamidbar 1:51), is now fulfilled that, ‘For the mountain of Tzion, which is desolate, the foxes walk upon it’ (Eichah 5:18), should we not cry?”
He said, “That is precisely why I laugh! It says, ‘I will take faithful witness to record, Uriah HaKohen and Zechariah…’ (Yeshayahu 8:2). Why is Uriah mentioned together with Zechariah? The former was from the time of the First Temple and the latter was from the time of the Second Temple! It is, therefore, to make the prophecy of Zechariah dependent upon the prophecy of Uriah. Uriah said, ‘Because of you Tzion shall be plowed as a field, and Jerusalem shall become heaps’ (Michah 3:12). Zechariah said, ‘There shall still sit old men and old women in the streets of Jerusalem’ (Michah8:4). Now, until the prophecy of Uriah was fulfilled I was very concerned that the prophecy of Zechariah might not be fulfilled. However, now that I have seen the fulfillment of Uriah’s prophecy, it is clear that the prophecy of Zechariah will come to be.”
Having heard this, they told him, “Akiva, you have consoled us! Akiva, you have consoled us!” (Makkos 24b)
Huh? Just like that? With so short an explanation Rebi Akiva succeeded in turning his colleagues around 180 degrees? Yes. And, if you know what he said you’ll understand why.

Don’t anyone tell me that the majority of muslims are peaceful and moderate when clearly the extremists and haters represent the vast majority of muslims. Anyone who doubts this needs to wake up. The terrorists aren’t simply a fringe minority but represent the beliefs of the majority of muslims worldwide. It stands to reason that they could not possibly be so powerful and numerous without such widespread support. Islam is a religion of hate and war and its high time westerners stop walking on eggshells and acknowledge this openly and acknowledge openly that the islamic world has declared war on us, in fact against the entire non-muslim world. There is too much at stake, our lives and the survival of western civilization to continue pretending islam is a religion of peace as politicians like to say publicly and pretending terrorism has nothing to do with islam and pretending we can negotiate, make peace with and coexist with those who harbor an ideology which seeks either our submission, conversion or death. We are in a life and death struggle in which political correctness can get us killed.

U.S. rabbis urge Obama to push for immediate Gaza truce Our Jewish Kikes are at it again. I would love to shoot them.
A group of rabbis and other religious leaders bought advertising space in the New York Times this week to call for U.S. president-elect Barack Obama to push for an immediate cease-fire in the Gaza Strip.
The ad, placed by the Network of Spiritual Progressives and claiming to represent more than 2,800 other religious, cultural and community leaders, urges Obama to convene an international Middle East peace conference to “facilitate a lasting and just settlement for all parties.”
