A phoney warComments
The correct name of the defeated Nazi commander in the Battle of Stalingrad, that you are citing, is General Field Marshal (Generalfeldmarschall) Friedrich Wilhelm Ernst Paulus. I object to your raising him to the ranks of German nobility. Although Paulus was also known as von Paulus, the "von" in the name is not authentic, cf. Friedrich Paulus - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia. Please, correct the whole sentence to read: General Friedrich Paulus [instead of "von Paulus"], head of the invading Wehrmacht [instead of "Whermacht"] forces, said Monday that his forces are willing to declare a 10 year Vereinbarung [instead of "Verinbarung"] zur Einstellung des Feuers, or ceasefire. Of course, I wholeheartedly concur with Joseph Alexander Norland's point of view: Even more tragic than Israel's severe sacrifices for the sake of peace during the Oslo War in these past 10 years, is Israel's apparent inability to learn the hard way from bad experience, -- that peaceful coexistence with Islam is nothing but wishful thinking. Islam remains what it has always been for almost 1400 years: A barbaric cutthroat killer-religion! Deception and bad faith is inherent to Islam, and known as taqiyya and kitman. A hudna peace treaty is not worth the paper on which it is written. It only serves as a treacherous tactic of Jihad: Stabbing the unsuspecting victim in the back is the preferred method of those cowardly Moslem infidels. Send them back across the Jordan to Arabia, where they came from, instead of expelling the Jews from Gaza, which has been part of Judea for over 3000 years. It's about time to end the Arab occupation of Israel! Judea for Jews! -- No Arab Trojan-Horse State in Israel's heartland! Posted by: Dr. E. Metzler-Moziani, Judge (ret.) on November 30, 2004 05:37 AM There is no way I can answer Joseph's question on why Israel Radio interviewed a terrorist. I can contribute something on the siege of Stalingrad analogy. Israel's political echelon and IDF are not relying on the Stalingrad example but rather Napolean's quest. Israel is practicing a "scorched earth" policy. It is really more successful than thought. The only problem is that Israel's scorched earth policy is successful. Kol tuv, Posted by: BobW
Dr. E. Metzler-Moziani, I tottaly aggree with you on Both parts, 'Von Paulus' and regarding arabs in Israel. But I think, that current leadership in Israel lost it's way. Posted by: Anthony on November 30, 2004 01:24 PM Post a comment |
A phoney war
Imagine Stalingrad in January 1943, in the middle of a life-and-death war; can you see Radio Russia interviewing General (later, Field-Marshal) Friedrich von Paulus, and can you see the Stalingrad Post printing the following report:
Well, the equivalent just happened under our nose, as reported by JPost:
My I humbly ask: (i) How come a terrorist is interviewed on Israel Radio? Is Israel Radio not at war with terrorists? (ii) How come nobody informed the said terrorist that cease-fires are non-starters, but destroying the terrorist infrastructure is the objective? This is the core problem: A state of peace with Israel is not something the Arabs can even contemplate; the most they are willing to grant is a ceasefire, during which they can re-arm and lick the wounds inflicted by the IDF, while they wait for the next opportunity to annihilate Israel.
And after Saturday comes Sunday, as the Arabs themselves tell us, much as Adolf Hitler presented his entire plan in advance.
Note: The first paragraph has been corrected upon the advise of Dr Ed Metzler, to whom I am grateful for the comment he posted.
