Government agrees to Arafat burial in the MuqataTrackback PingsTrackBack URL for this entry: Comments
Very upsetting. Posted by: Ted on November 10, 2004 06:47 AM
It's heartbreaking... the man was a killer who probably killed more Jews in his lifetime than many Nazis! Why should Israel allow any honours for him in the West Bank or Jerusalem??? He should be buried as he lived in his life... in a quagmire in Gaza, or his family plot in Egypt! Posted by: Jerusalem Posts on November 10, 2004 07:14 AM
Yes JP, you are right. It is heartbreaking to think that arafat will be buried anywhere in Israel. It would be yet another crime against Israel, and all of humanity, to do so. A day of reckoning is coming. Sha'alu shalom Yerushalayim Posted by: LindaSoG
Give me a break. You are all so naive. If you think the pressure is not real, quite grotesque with lasting consequences than go blame it on Sharon. All to protect whom? No one in this world cares that arafat is the father of modern terrorism or how many innocent Jews he killed or how many deaths he masterminded. What they care about is how to continue at every bend pushing Israel farther and farther into the corner with nowhere to go except into the arms of those who wish to destroy us. Sharon: This is precisely why Israel should stand firm. With growing distress, I note that Israel is showing cascading weakness - just what will kill you dead in no time in such a neighbourhood as the Middle East. It is therefore the duty of Israel's supporters abroad to encourage the beleaguered people of Israel to be strong and resolute. An iron wall is what was needed when Jabotinsky coined the term, and an iron fist is what is need now to bolster the iron wall. Posted by: Joseph Alexander Norland on November 10, 2004 10:08 AM
Sharon, Adolf Eichman, yemach sh'mo, was not buried in Israel. His ashes just contaminated the Great Sea. Perhaps all this has something to do with the current government in Israel. Kol tuv, Posted by: BobW on November 10, 2004 01:32 PM Post a comment |
Government agrees to Arafat burial in the Muqata
Once again, Sharon's weak government has caved in to international pressure and has agreed to Arafat's burial in the Muqata.
A burial in Gaza or Egypt would have been far more suitable, because the Muqata burial will only cause problems in the future.
Already the Palestinians are saying that the Muqata is only a "temporary" place of burial and that as soon as possible, they will bury Arafat on the Temple Mount - which Israel has repeatedly refused.
So why allow the Muqata to be turned into a shrine?
Israel is craving world approval and the present weak government appears to be suffering from Stockholm Syndrome. It's yet another sign of the present government caving in to the slightest international pressure or public opinion.
It won't be long before there's even more violent clashes with throngs of Palestinians wanting Arafat's body moved to the Temple Mount, except this time, Israelis will be outnumbered by the enemy and will have no choice but to allow their demands to be met.
