Dramatic turn around for TurkeyComments
It must be remembered that is was the USA who coerced Turkey into defying their own secular Constitution (that of Ataturk) and allow [Islamic] religious parties to hold seats in government. Somehow, it was expected that the Islamists would show their gratitude by supporting Turkey's participation in the new Gulf War. They (the Islamists) rejected the idea of siding with the US against their Muslim brothers in Iraq----and went as far as to deny US forces fly-over permissions during the run up to the war----the US used Israeli bases and services instead. Carter tried to suck up to the Muslim world by installing the Ayatolah Khoumeni in Iran---and unleashed modern Islamic terrorism on the planet. George W. Bush did the same thing with Turkey.....and we can only pray that the Turks are more resistant to the tyranny of Islam than were the Persians.
