Israel's Peace Partners Show Good Faith

Apparently unable to contain their excitement over upcoming elections, Palestinian Arab terrorists decided to start celebrating early. With a cowardly ambush attack on Jews.

Between ten and thirteen Israel Defense Forces soldiers were wounded Sunday evening in a combined bomb, mortar and shooting attack on an IDF position near the Rafah Terminal Crossing in the southern Gaza Strip along the Gaza-Egypt border.

A strong explosion rocked the crossing just after 5.45 p.m. The blast was followed almost immediately by a barrage of mortar shells and small arms fire. Another bomb was detonated near troops during the ensuing battle. Security officials said the blast occurred when over one-and-a-half tons of explosives exploded inside a tunnel, which was dug under the 'JVT' security checkpoint.

At least two suicide bombers were involved in the attack, Israel Radio reported. At least another Palestinian was killed in the exchange of fire with troops after the blast.

Hamas' military wing Izzadin Al-Kassam and the Fatah Hawks claimed joint responsibility for the attack. They said the attack was filmed and video will be released at a later stage. The Hawks are a youth movement within the Fatah which has turned into an armed militia.

The Fatah Hawks statement said there were a number of "warriors" still at the scene. Palestinians say the tunnel was dug over a period of four months. News agency broadcasts show Palestinians celebrating in Gaza streets following news of the attack.

And it seems that this craven vehicle of hate and murder was fueled by wild-eyed Arab, antisemitic conspiracy theory. (As if these people actually need a reason to continue on in their irrational joy at killing Jews.)

A Palestinian giving his name only as Abu Majad claimed gunmen attacked the Israeli side of the crossing after the blast. He claimed responsibility in the name of the Fatah Hawks, an offshoot of the mainstream Fatah Party, and possibly connected with Hamas.

Abu Majad said the explosives-filled tunnel was 250 meters long. He said the attack was retaliation for what he called "the assassination" of Yasser Arafat.

Reuters is reporting that four IDF soldiers have died in the attack.

This is a good case for evacuating all residents in Rafah after an IDF raid into Rafah to clean out the known terrorists and confiscating all arms and explosives. There should not be any facilities within 2 kilometers of the border.

This is a good stimulant for the introduction of the death penalty for terrorism.

"These are the nations that HASHEM let remain, to test Israel throgh them, all those who did not know all the Canaanite wars - [they remained] only so that the generations of the children of Israel would know, to teach them warfare;.." Judges 3:1,2

Did I read "bomb, mortar and shooting attack" at Rafah Crossing?

Does the phrase "Security officials said the blast occurred when.." contain an oxymoron?

Are the Israel KIA (Z"L) and MIA being solely blamed on the barbarians?
