The next surrender

The next surrender

See update at article's end.

Like the glutten who fantasizes about his next meal while eating the current one, some Israelis are plotting the surrender of the Golan Heights even as Israel is in the process of surrendering the Gaza strip into the hands of Arab terrorists.

Unbelievable? Here is the corroborating Reuters report:

Israelis Float Golan Split for Peace with Syria

Top Israeli strategists have drawn up a proposal to return parts of the occupied Golan Heights to Syria under a peace deal and will put it to a key policy conference next week, organizers said on Thursday.

...
"Prime Minister (Ariel) Sharon is fully aware of what is on the agenda," a conference organizer said.

Under the proposal by former Mossad intelligence operatives Uzi Arad and Shmuel Bar and academic Gideon Biger, Israel would withdraw to the Golan ridgeline overlooking the Sea of Galilee, keeping most of its settlements on the strategic plateau.

The French should be pleased that they were not let by General Feet-of-Butter Sharon, or they would have had to return Alsace-Lorraine to Germany. Not to mention the Poles who would have had to return East Prussia...

UPDATE

Like an alcoholic who cannot wait for the next drink, so Sharon cannot wait to surrender the Gaza strip. In a news story entitled, "Israel Prepared to Turn Over Gaza Security", AP reports as follows:

JERUSALEM (AP) - Israel is prepared to turn over security responsibilities in the northern Gaza Strip to Palestinian forces well ahead of a planned withdrawal from the area in mid-2005, Israeli security officials said Friday.

The security sources said if the test is successful, Palestinian forces could be given responsibility for security in large parts of the West Bank as well.
