Police brutality - in Israel, and against Jews
Any comment I may add to the article, "I Don't Believe the Version of Deputy-Inspector Assaf Ravid", by Nadia Matar, can only detract from her narrative, so I will restrict myself to a short quote and a link. Please read Nadia's article at the site of Women in Green.
How can I forget Micky Levi, who in 1994 was still Deputy Commander of the Jerusalem District of the Police? He brutally shoved me to the ground, even though I was in a legal and quiet protest vigil on the sidewalk near the Supreme Court, and, together with other policemen forcibly lifted me by my arms and legs, with my back hitting the ground, and dragged me to a police car. When I filed a complaint about an illegal arrest and police brutality, a charge was filed against me of assaulting a police officer! Micky Levi and other police officers appeared in court, and unabashedly testified that I had attacked Levi! And when we finally were fortunate enough to obtain a videocassette from Channel 2 that proved, beyond any doubt, that it was Micky Levi, specifically, who attacked me - the police retracted its accusations and dropped the case. The fact that Levi perjured himself in open court in no way interfered with his subsequent promotion.

If the same unlawful police action occurred against Nadia Natar in one of the African dictatorships, it would be as routine as "dog bites man".
The reason the Nadia Natar made the news is because the general public do not place Israel in the same category as dictatorships.
An examination of the institutions of Israeli government will show that Israel is NOT a parliamentary democratic republic.
If Israel was, many of the problems making the news would disappear.
Again, there is no issue of police officers arresting people and no issue of charging arrestees with assault type charges. The issue is an institution of government having no checks on the fact patterns - and someone got promoted.
Address the infection, not the fever !!

The Israeli Police are known for treating most citizens equally, they treat them all as terror suspects, routinely beating, torturing, and falsifying reports about them. THere are however "exceptions",,,foreigners are often killed by the "immigration police", and violent, drugged-out "mafia" families are treated as royalty, as they are often related to or employ the police themselves.
