Those Nefarious Settlers
Those Nefarious Settlers
Bloghead reports that the according to the Herald Sun (actually the source is Agence Frenche Presse and is also here ) Israelis have developed a microwave weapon to incapacitate enemies. Not surprisingly this nefarious weapon is reported to have been developed in the "West Bank Jewish settlement of Ariel." The Hebrew daily Ma'ariv is cited as the source.
Whether or not Ma'ariv is actually the source, this is plain silly.

This is a description of an "Active Denial System" developed for the US Air Force by Raytheon. (I first read about it at defensetech.) The Sacramento Bee reports that it won't be ready for deployment for several years yet. The report in the SacBee from June, 2004, is the most complete treatment of the subject.
I let AFP know. (The AFP contact form requires a company name, so I just wrote "myself." Another required piece of information was "field of endeavor" so I entered "media watcher.)
