What European allies?Trackback PingsTrackBack URL for this entry: Comments
Why the shift from "allies" to "good friends"? The Soviet Union was a US ally during WWII and Japan during WWI. Friendship was not involved. Let me accept that SecState Powell was given forged documents re Niger uranium exports to Iraq. Whether the documents were fake or authentic, the US had meetings preparing for the UN appearance. These meetings were no less roudy than shareholder takeover meetings. Even truthful documents from the French might have been represented as fraudulent. The Atlantic Alliance had weaknesses prior to Vichy France. The French still hold alliance status in NATO - to box in NATO ally Germany. That's why NATO expanded eastward. When Britain abandons Sterling for the Euro, I'll go along with the author. Meanwhile, I'll wait and watch London make money from their North Sea oil fields and their neoconcessions in the Middle East. Didn't Israel also try to sell stealth aircraft technology to China (Phalcon)? Is not the only concern the direction of the revenue stream? Currently, the UK is a European ally of the US. After "currently", continental Europe just might not be governed by an Anglo-Slavic population. Kol tuv, Posted by: BobW on February 22, 2005 08:07 AM Post a comment |
What European allies?
from American Thinker
President George W. Bush, Brussels, February 21, 2005Seeing our graceful new Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice dancing her diplomatic minuet in Paris reminds me of a Woody Allen story about Sigmund Freud’s most neurotic patient. After years of wrestling with this man’s demented soul, Freud finally decided to call an end to the therapy. So he declared his patient to be cured and sane. Except for one little thing --- Freud would never turn his back to him. Europe is like that. Americans would like to think that Europeans are our good friends, but can we really turn our back on them without getting that itchy feeling between our shoulder blades? MORE
