A letter from Israel, by Jay Shapiro

A letter from Israel, by Jay Shapiro

Note: The following report was sent to me in a private communication and is posted here with permission. I cherish letters and comments from Israelis above all others. - Ed.

Hi,

Things here are beyond imaginable.

Now the government has passed a law (or maybe it is just a military decree) that no one can move to the area of Gush Katif. And in several weeks the area will be declared a closed military zone. That means no one can enter or leave without army permission.

There are more than 8000 people living there, citizens of Israel who pay taxes, serve in the army, and get their legs blown off by terrorists, and now they are being treated as enemies of the state. Can you imagine what would happen if a neighborhood in Ottawa was declared a closed military zone with all the implications thereof.

Sharon has become an unbelievable dictator, supported by his political lackeys, the media and the state prosecutor. I went to Gush Katif last week to lend support to them (many of whom are personal friends of mine) and believe me, they are heroes.

In the meantime, Bush has told Assad to get the terrorist organizations out of Damascus - so Abu Mazen has invited them to Gaza. Gaza will become the world center of terrorism under the auspices of Bush and Blair and the rest of the blind idiots in the free world. If this was a play or movie or book no one would believe it.

We remain of good cheer and try to live our lives normally.

Be well and keep up the good work. The important thing in life is to know that you are doing the right thing. Israel is the miner's canary for the western world. If they let us go down the tube, the rest won't be far behind.

Jay

Even worse is that when the government is forcibly expelling all Jews from Gaza, it will be a zone completely closed to the media.

This ONLY happens in fascist states and thugocracies. Is this what Israel's becoming under Sharon's dictate?

I respect our brethren living in Gaza and if only our voices were heard louder, there would be more support. Unfortunately, there's no Human Rights organisation that wants to protect the Gazan Jews. :(

I hope Sharon and his rotten, corrupt, government will fall because of the budget.

As you well know. The budget vote will bring down THIS government, but the Poison will remain. Without radical electoral and judicial reform, and a JEWISH CONSTITUTION in Israel, we are 'doomed', in any case.

Let's keep our eyes on the Big Ball. If SharonPeres is/are broken on the wheel of the Katif Expulsion, New Israel WILL truly be born. All must rally forcibly and relentlessly for the changes. (Define 'forcibly', as you will). The Babe MUST Survive.

As Gregory Peck said in 'The Guns of Navaronne': - "You're IN IT, NOW!"

Paragraph 4 explains the ultimate "problem" and automatically generates the solution-if sought. It is the neglected area causing Israel's demise. It does not matter what PM Sharon is called-"dictator", "Prime Minister" or "king". A Simon & Garfunkel silence is heard when mentioning Israel's non-representative government. PM Sharon is Chief of State of a socialist, eastern European type of government. The Knesset is near dysfunctional. The "rubber stamp" has now transitioned to the Knesset's Defense and Foreign Affairs Committee. Real power is concentrated in the Prime Minister's Office (PMO). The State Prosecutor - and pending Governor of the Bank of Israel (imported from the US), serve by default.

Israelis will engage in all types of political publicity stunts but refuse to address the need for a modern non-socialist government.

The Gaza matter is too late. The Gaza transfer is not reversible without at least 7 plagues and many omens. What is buried in the news because of Gaza, are stories of Israel Police restrictions on wearing kippas at public demonstrations. Gaza is not the issue-nor safety. They are only the manifestation of the ultimate issue. Judaism is being restricted in Israel.

Restricted access to Gaza is also a diversion. Multi-party treaties have already been signed and acted upon. The Egypt-Israel peace treaty has since been modified allowing Egyptian forces to enter east Sinai and Gaza. The US Sinai Support Mission has adjusted for the Gaza transition. There are many other acts negating Gaza as part of Israel.

I'm empathetic to the tone of Jay Shapiro's letter. Gaza will definitely be a terrorism hub (Wait until Jerusalem hits the news; that's why I refrain from agreeing with Jay that Gaza will become THE terrorism center.). The "blind idiots in the free world" are not Bush/Blair, using their names to represent their governments. Look closer at the national so-called "Jewish" organizations. The barbarians have always been around and handled. The US and UK have intersts and Bush/Blair address these interests.

Recall preindependence efforts when Reginald Coupland of the Peel Committee told Chaim Weizman and Abba Eban to be alert to the "unitary allusion". This referred to the allusion that 2 peoples with no common purposes in life could be forced to live together in peace in a single state. Coupland was obviously addressing the 1948 Arabs and Jews, thus the need for partition.

In 2005, the "unitary allusion" now represents the conflicting purposes of the secular and socialist populace with the Jewish oriented populace. There is no real unitary material for nation-state success.

A topical reading of the above could invoke thoughts of a bloodbath. Now, look much closer at the territory treaties and the other treaty arrangements such s Arab day workers in Israel. Jewish Israel is being closed down.

The US/UK do not want a bloodbath. How does the equation get balanced? Again, please look closer at national Jewish organizations such as B'nai B'rith, AIPAC, JWV, AJC (both Committee and Congress) and several others.

Take the territory treaties (Do not forget the corridors clauses)and add the Arab day workers together. Israel is planned as an enclave.

Israel's socialists resemble Cubans sweetening their mountain grown coffee with beet sugar. The socialist model does not work and the secular Israeli leaders adjusted funding to prove otherwise. The annual funding will soon evaporate. Thus,my projection for an enclave at best. Any guesses when we hear of a campaign for a nuclear free Middle East?
