Hard to believe, by Mike Levine, IsraelTrackback PingsTrackBack URL for this entry: Comments
This is a false analogy. Event one involved death simply by the status of being Jewish out to the level of Michlinge, just 1 Jewish grandparent. Event two is pending economic and theological loss. The comparison is false. Plus, the use of the imagery of the Shoah, in effect, dillutes what happened 6 decades ago in Europe.

Agree with BobW, JAN. This is a profane comparison. WHile you know that I think that Fat Arik has hijacked Israel's democracy and that this expulsion is wrong in biblical proportions, I cannot and will not sunder the memories of the six million by comparing a forced move from our biblical land with the systematic extermination of the six million lives. I can't and won't cross that line. Posted by: Jlichty on March 20, 2005 04:53 PM
OK, Arik is not expelling in order to kill as BobW and Jlichty have pointed out. The analogy is not 100% correct. But he does want to expel Jews from their home in order to make certain areas of the Land of Israel judenrein. Like it or not, this is the truth! This is in an of itself a crime, even if he had an electoral mandate to do so. At present, three different elections (the last general election with Arik agaist Mitzna, the Likud Central Committee vote, and the Likud members vote) have rejected the expulsion plan. Hard to believe, by Mike Levine, Israel
"We have been condemned for some time. ... Our lives exist under the shadow of the coming evacuation; maybe it is good to think everyday that it could happen tomorrow ... so we slowly get used to something inevitable, unless a miracle occurs at the last moment."
This could have been written by one of the 9,500 Jewish men, women, and children about to be expelled from their homes and land in Gaza and northern Samaria.
It wasn't.
It was written 60 years ago by a Jewish woman in Poland to her family in Palestine, a woman who knew she and her children were about to be sent to a concentration camp for extermination by the Nazis.
It is chillingly similar to the planned 'evacuation' of Jews which is about to take place in Israel today. The big difference is that this expulsion is not being done by a Hitler...it is being done by the Prime Minister of the State of Israel, Ariel Sharon!!!
