Keep this in your "Broken pledges" folder

Keep this in your "Broken pledges" folder

From al-Ha'aretz, Mar 1, 2005:

"Israel once again emphasizes that there will be no progress in the diplomatic process under the road map until the Palestinian Authority acts resolutely against terrorism and dismantles [the terror] infrastructure," Sharon's bureau said. "Israel also demands that the Palestinians carry out political reforms."

Since General Sharon has shamelessly reneged on his election commitments by initiating his expulsion and resettlement scheme, why should anyone believe that he will keep this pledge?

Nonetheless, keep the foregoing statement on file, for the record.

While you at it, add this pledge too (cited from JPost, mar 1, 2005):

The IDF will stay positioned in the territory beyond the security fence that overlooks Ben-Gurion Airport, and is putting a priority on completing the security barrier in the Jerusalem area by the end of July, Deputy Chief of General Staff Maj.-Gen. Dan Halutz said Monday .

"We are not ceding the territory" of the Ben-Gurion enclave, he said, adding that there would be a physical presence of troops in addition to technological means employed in the area.

Amen.
