My initial impression of you has changed - from bad to worse. I cannot pretend to admire you, Mr. Peres. In fact, I feel that you are dangerous for the very survival of Israel as a Jewish State.
Yesterday, March 2, 2005, there was an article in the Jerusalem Post entitled, "Peres predicts 6% economic growth after Gaza withdrawal."
In this article, you tell us the "good news" that Israel's plan to withdraw from the Gaza Strip is boosting investment and tourism, and may push 2005 economic growth as high as 6%. (You never do explain how there is going to be a 6% economic growth in Israel if the Disengagement is successful.)
Your fascination with the redistribution of money from one group of people to another reminds me of the famous story about your courtship of your future wife Sonia. You yourself tell us, as a "charming sidelight," that when you courted Sonia, you read her by candlelight chapters of DAS KAPITAL by Karl Marx. [R. M.: I think it might have been more romantic to read her portions of the SONG OF SONGS from the Bible, but to each his own.] DAS KAPITAL became the Bible of Communist Russia. It shows that you were fascinated early on by the forceful redistribution of wealth!
The wealth that you now want to redistribute is that of the Jewish communities in Gush Katif, to Arab terrorists. For instance, you are planning to turn an Israeli hotel on Gaza's 25 mile-long beach into a Palestinian resort. You want to stimulate the depressed Palestinian economy by renewing permits for Palestinians from the "West Bank" and Gaza to work at day jobs in Israel. You want the Government to give such permits to as many as 35,000 Palestinians.
This really is adding insult to injury. These Arabs, many of them terrorists, are going to take over Jewish homes, and in addition, to take away jobs from Jews in the rest of Israel. The rightful owners of these homes, on the other hand, will be hard put to find new lodgings and new jobs, after being expelled from Gush Katif. You certainly must know that Israel currently suffers from widespread unemployment!
In the March 3, 2005 article in the Jerusalem Post entitled, "Talks held on Gaza hothouse handover to PA," your plans are even more explicit.
I am quoting verbatim from the relevant parts of this article:
"A day after the world pledged in London to help the Palestinian Authority prepare for disengagement, Vice Prime Minister Shimon Peres and PA Civilian Affairs Minister Muhammad Dahlan met Wednesday and discussed the possible transfer of Gush Katif's hothouses to the Palestinians.
Earlier in the day, Disengagement Authority head Yonatan Bassi said the government was negotiating with the PA and others about the possible sale of the hothouses, many of them hi-tech and state of the art.
The government was looking to boost the PA economy by helping it develop an agricultural infrastructure, Bassi said at a Jerusalem press conference.
"Israel is negotiating now with America and with others, with the international community, to leave all the infrastructure of the hothouses to the Palestinians through a third party," he said.
Bassi added that such a move would help the PA economy and increase the food supply for Palestinians in the Gaza Strip. The vegetables grown in the hothouses could help feed them and the flowers could be sold to Europe, he said.
Bassi's office clarified that the sale was an option for Gaza settlers who might prefer to leave their hothouses in place rather than move them. Money from the sale would allow for greater compensation funds to be paid to them.
A spokesperson for Peres said the talks about the hothouses were part of a greater discussion dealing with the transfer of existing businesses to the Palestinians after the withdrawal. A number of ideas were raised and needed to be checked with both sides.
In addition, the two discussed job creation, possible tourism enterprises and improving the overall Palestinian standard of living."

The average person may not realize the evil deed you are planning. These are not your average little greenhouses! These are state-of-the-art greenhouses which have benefited from Jewish genius at improving agricultural methods.
* There are 900 acres of greenhouses growing bugless lettuce, cherry tomatoes (90% of Israel's exports), organic vegetables, spices, flowers, plants and more.
* Jewish agriculture in Gaza brings in $60 million a year in exports - an average of $7,500 for every man, woman and child in Gush Katif.
* 70% of all of Israel's organic produce comes from Gush Katif.
And all these results of Jewish love for the Land, hard labor and ingenuity, are to be handed over to the Arab enemy to "increase food supply for Palestinians in the Gaza Strip, make it possible for the Arabs to make a living, selling agricultural produce and flowers to Europe, and to improve their economic situation"?
What makes you feel, Mr. Peres, that you have a right to redistribute the property of your Jewish brethren to the Arabs?
In addition, you discussed with PA Civilian Affairs Minister Muhammed Dahlan, job creation for the Arabs, tourism enterprises and generally improving the overall Palestinian standard of living.
(Of course, Mr. Peres, since you are privy to the secrets of the Israeli Government, you must be aware that there are credible allegations that it was Muhammed Dahlan who ordered the attack on the school bus in Gush Katif where the three Cohen children lost four limbs? You must also be aware of the allegation that the CIA has a tape with Dahlan's recorded voice ordering this attack!)
The tragedy of the Deportation Plan for the Jews of Gush Katif is the poisonous fruit of your perfidy in the secret agreements you signed on August 20, 1993 in Oslo.
I am quoting your own words from page one of your book, "The New Middle East." "That night in Oslo I had celebrated my 70th birthday. In Israel it was still dark, but in Norway the early northern dawn was just beginning to show through the mist. Here was a small group of Israelis, Palestinians and Norwegians - partners to one of the best guarded diplomatic secrets ever.... "(page 1)
Yes, Mr. Peres, it was an absolute secret, with some important exceptions. President Hosni Mubarak, Foreign Minister Ahmru Mussah, and advisor Osmah el-Baaz were privy to the fact that secret talks were under way (page 22). Although you were the Minister of Foreign Affairs, you did not tell Israel's Prime Minister, Yitzhak Rabin, about your secret agreement, nor for that matter, did you tell the Israeli Knesset. In fact, the Knesset was made to approve your secret agreement with the PA retroactively! Hardly a democratic procedure, would you say?
Your secret 1993 "GAZA FIRST" Plan was the beginning of today's "disengagement."
The People of Israel, and Jews and Christians all over the world, are now reaping the fruits of your perfidy. Israel is in danger of losing what G-d has promised the Jews as an everlasting inheritance.
Politics does make strange bedfellows, doesn't it? In his book "Warrior," Ariel Sharon strongly criticizes you for not being able to see the absolute necessity for Israel's survival, and to destroy the Osirak nuclear reactor in Iraq in 1981 (page 382). Sharon also did not appreciate, your inciting, as Labor Party leader, against himself and Prime Minister Menachem Begin during the Lebanon War of 1982 (page 483).
But now you and Ariel Sharon have made an unholy alliance. You are both hell-bent on destroying Jewish communities, not only in Gaza and northern Samaria, but all over the Holy Land. And in the process, you are destroying Israeli democracy as well.
Former Israeli Prime Minister and Foreign Affairs Minister Moshe Sharett made a most prophetic statement about you. These words appear in his personal diary (1957):
"I have stated that I totally and utterly reject [Shimon] Peres and consider his rise to prominence a malignant, immoral disgrace. I will rend my clothes in mourning for the State if I see him become a minister in the Israeli government."
Many thousands of Israelis - families of terror victims - have done K'RIYAH (to rend one's clothing in mourning) because of you. Yoram Ettinger, former Israeli liaison to the U.S. Congress, writes that 250 Israelis were murdered by (Islamic) Palestinian terrorists during 1988-1993. Since your Oslo "Peace Plan" in 1993, more than 1,700 Israelis have been murdered by Palestinian terrorists. What you brought to many of our citizens, Mr. Peres, is the "peace of the grave".
And now you plan to have fellow Jews forcibly expelled, deported, and transferred from their homes! Why? To help the Palestinian economy? To increase the food supply for the Arabs, with Jewish-grown produce? To create jobs for terrorists?
HAVE YOU NO SHAME, SHIMON PERES?

OPEN LETTER TO SHIMON PERES, by Ruth Matar
Editor's note: The letter below was received via e-mail; it is reproduced below because it has not been posted on the WIG site as of this time [2005_03_03, 2:20 pm EST].
Jerusalem, THURSDAY, March 3, 2005
Mr. Peres,
I am writing this letter to you as an American Israeli Jewess, who has found her spiritual home in Jerusalem, in the Holy Land. The first time I met you was in January or February of 1996 in the Renaissance Hotel in Jerusalem. I was there with a group of Women in Green. We approached you in the hotel lobby to tell you that we were very concerned about the continual Arab terrorist murders of Jews. You were visibly upset at our criticism. You turned to me, since I spoke Hebrew with a pronounced American accent, and shouted: "Go back where you came from!" At that moment, I felt that your attitude was quite peculiar for a Foreign Minister of Israel, who should certainly not be against immigration from the United States! I also found your remark particularly offensive, since you yourself are an immigrant from Poland.
My initial impression of you has changed - from bad to worse. I cannot pretend to admire you, Mr. Peres. In fact, I feel that you are dangerous for the very survival of Israel as a Jewish State.
