2. Review of recent Resistance action
Excerpt from Arutz7:
Disengagement opponents continue to seek creative and effective ways to prevent it – in the knowledge that violence must be avoided at all costs. Police volunteers now say they won't volunteer.
Some 10,000 soldiers signed petitions saying that they would not take part in any aspect of the disengagement and that they would even refuse orders in this regard. They emphasized that they would not take part in violence, as did other Yesha leaders and rabbis leading the protest campaign.
As the soldiers' refusal initiative was gaining steam, the decision was made by the government that the IDF would not take active part in the evacuation and expulsion.
Instead, the decision was made to have the police man the front lines and be actively involved in the physical removal of the residents from their homes.
In response, some police volunteers say they're quitting. Yedidyah Sharoni of the northern town of Sdei Ilan, together with several other police volunteers in the northern region, say they refuse to take part in police work during this period.
The item about the police volunteers, together with the letter in which the police volunteers terminate their participation, may be read at the Katif site.
3. Oppression and repression
Excerpt from JPost, 2005_03_10:
The brother of Education Minister Limor Livnat was questioned by Jerusalem police Thursday on suspicion of incitement to violence and fomenting rebellion during a recent speech he made at a Jerusalem rally against the planned withdrawal from the Gaza Strip, police said.
Noam Livnat was grilled by interrogators for three hours Thursday at the instruction of Attorney General Menachem Mazuz who ordered police to probe participants in the Chabad event earlier this month. Livnat, who was released after posting NIS 5,000 bail, told investigators that they were carrying out a "political investigation," Jerusalem police spokesman Shmuel Ben-Ruby said.
4. Rally of Israeli Druze against expulsion
If you read al-Ha'ertz or similar rag sheets, you'll never know it, but an "Impressive Rally in Support of Gush Katif" took place in the Druze community of Dalyat el-Carmel. Katif.net reports:
The rally, whose slogans were “Blood Brothers” and “Druzes Will Not Expel Jews”, was attended by MK Ayyub Qara, Druze notables, Rabbi Yigal Kaminetsky and other Gush Katif residents, in addition to activists from Haifa and members of the Likud Party Center from the north of the country.
Note: "Resistance News" is a daily column devoted to news about the Jewish resistance to Sharon's expulsion and resettlement plan. Let it not be said that IsraPundit observed the ethnic-cleansing of Jews in Yesha and reacted with indifference.
