1. The Arab MKs may yet be the ones to save Yesha!

IMRA reports:

MK Barakeh: Arab parties will vote as bloc against budget
MK Mohammad Barakeh (Hadash-Ta`al) told Israel Radio this morning in a live interview that the 8 MKs representing Arab parties will vote as a bloc against the budget - even if that means that Prime Minister Ariel Sharon's Government falls.

Of course, The General has an endless array of bribe system which can sway the Israeli neo-Comms from their declared position. Alas, we are living in interesting times.

On the other hand, it would appear that Likud's "rebels" are going wobbly. JPost reports:

Prime Minister Ariel Sharon is considering a proposal raised by Agriculture Minister Yisrael Katz to legalize illegal outposts in return for the support of the 13 so-called Likud rebels on the 2005 state budget, Katz said on Sunday.

The proposal, which was first reported by Channel 2's Udi Segal, would apply to 71 outposts built before March 2001. Katz intends to raise the idea on Monday morning in the first meeting of a new ministerial committee on outposts that was appointed to examine the ramifications of attorney Talia Sasson's outpost report.

It would seem that the "rebels" have a Sophie's Choice and I would not like to be in their shoes having to make a pact with the devil. On the other hand, the "legalization" the rebels ask for, even if granted, could be delayed indefinitely or rescinded after the budget vote - the expulsion of Yesha's pioneers will stand for generations.

2. AIPAC, GA throttle expulsion opponents

From IMRA:

MK Uzi Landau (Likud) slammed AIPAC www.aipac.org and The United Jewish Communities General Assembly (GA) www.ujc.org/section_display.html?id=42 for denying their constituents the opportunity to hear opponents of prime minister Ariel Sharon's disengagement plan. Landau told Israel Radio this morning that disengagement opponents were not invited to address the annual meetings of either group.

3. GOI intensifies its war against Yesha pioneers

JPost (excerpt):

OC Central Command Maj.-Gen. Yair Naveh issued orders today preventing Israeli citizens from relocating to Kadim, Ganim, Homesh and Sa-Nur in the northern West Bank.

The orders, which are effective immediately, function in order to prevent Israelis from registering a change in their addresses at the interior ministry in an attempt to foil the planned disengagement from the settlements in July this year.

Neveh's orders come several days after OC southern command Maj.-Gen. Dan Harel issued similar orders preventing citizens from transferring to Gaza Strip settlements...

According to official figures, between November and January, 238 people signed up as residents of these settlements, of them 195 in Gush Katif.

4. Calling Israel's supporters in the US

From JPost (excerpt):

Heads of the Council of Jewish Communities in Judea, Samaria and Gaza, together with Likud MK Uzi Landau have arrived in New York in an attempt to raise funds for the campaign against the disengagement plan.

According to Israel Radio, their aim is to raise $3 million.

Deputy council chairman Shaul Goldstein said that the delegation came to NY in order to refute rumors that the anti-pullout camp was in a state of limpness.

5. POT Heads rally revisited

[Note: POT stands for Peace in Our Time, and POT Heads is the epithet I have coined for the Israeli neo-Comms who are engaged in a relentless war against Yesha's pioneers.]

From Arutz 7 (excerpt):

Threats, Obscenity and Discrimination Dominate Left-Wing Rally

“Those who invite a civil war should know that we're ready for battle," Peace Now leader Yariv Oppenheimer told a left-wing crowd last night - and was greeted by raucous cheers from the crowd.

The left-wing rally in Tel Aviv last night, with a smaller-than-expected group of pro-expulsion protesters, was billed as a “peace” rally, but some of the statements were rather militant. Chants and signs reading, “A settler is not my brother,” were prominent. Left-wing leader Yossi Sarid has responded to those who warn of a civil war - literally, a “war of brothers” in Hebrew - that, "settlers are not my brothers."

Some of the banners calling to "evacuate" Gaza were particularly crass.

Note: "Resistance News" is a daily column devoted to news about the Jewish resistance to Sharon's expulsion and resettlement plan. Let it not be said that IsraPundit observed the ethnic-cleansing of Jews in Yesha and reacted with indifference.

Re 1; Appreciated readingthe term "neo Comms". Kol Hakavod, Joseph.

Whether GOI falls or not, the treaty obligations are still obligations of a new GOI. Gaza becomes part of the new Palestine regardless of the party running GOI.

Is Sophie dating Hobson? Any choice involved?

Re 2; Thank you for posting this re AIPAC et al. Also look at the Council of Presidents of Major American Jewish Organizations. This is the apex of where our "problem" originates.
