Soldier probed for shooting Palestinian in foot

The IDF is looking into accusations made by the Machsom Watch organization and Palestinians that a soldier stationed at the Beit-Iba road block shot a rubber bullet at the foot of a Palestinian man without provocation, Army Radio reported.

According to witnesses the Palestinian, who was waiting to cross through the check point this past Wednesday, angered the soldier who shot towards his lower body, hitting him in the foot.

Initial investigations revealed that the man arrived at the check point with his children, and the soldier permitted him to cross but held his children back owing to their young age, IDF officials said Friday. The man responded wildly, disturbing both soldiers and Palestinians in the area, IDF investigations claimed. After he refused to cooperated with soldiers who attempted to calm him, the road block's commander shot towards his legs. The investigation of the incident was continuing.
