U.S. again warns Israel against expanding West Bank settlements

The United States warned Israel on Monday against expanding Jewish settlements, and said it would seek an explanation from the government about newly announced plans to build 50 new homes in the West Bank.

President George W. Bush "made his views pretty clear" during his meeting last week in Crawford, Texas, with Prime Minister Ariel Sharon that "Israel should not expand settlements," White House spokesman Scott McClellan told reporters traveling with Bush to South Carolina.

Shameful.
