Israeli Minister OKs Gaza Pullout Delay
Israel's defense minister on Thursday recommended briefly delaying Israel's planned withdrawal from the Gaza Strip, the strongest indication yet that the summer pullout will be pushed back.
The recommendation by Shaul Mofaz, which is expected to win government approval, came as Israel and the Palestinians held their first talks on coordinating the pullout. Prime Minister Ariel Sharon insisted that despite the delay and strident settler opposition, the evacuation would be carried out.
4. Update on the outrageous incarceration of the young Israeli girls
From JPost:
Female teens jailed for 5 days for refusing to stay away from outpost
Five teens who were jailed for five days for refusing to adhere to a court order to stay away from an unauthorized West Bank settlement were released on bail Thursday by a Jerusalem court.
The teens, who are all female and range in age from 13 to 16, were arrested Sunday night while attempting to rebuild the illegal Giborim outpost near the West Bank city of Hebron.
During a hearing at the Jerusalem Magistrate's Court on Monday, the teens refused to commit themselves to stay away from the outpost for the next 90 days, the court-imposed condition for their release.
The five told the judge that they would not be kept away from any part of the Land of Israel, and that they had no faith in the legal system, far-right activist Itamar Ben-Gvir said Thursday.
The Jerusalem District Court freed the teens late Thursday even though they still refused to sign the order. The court said that the order was still in effect.

Most Settlers to Defy Gaza Pullout, Official Says
Most Jewish settlers are expected to resist removal in an Israeli pullout from Gaza this summer, a senior military official said on Thursday, reflecting growing concerns the withdrawal could be marred by violence.
The comments appeared to contradict earlier predictions by government officials that the majority of 9,000 settlers would leave quietly in the planned evacuation of all 21 settlements in Gaza and four of 120 in the West Bank.
It was another sign the military establishment was preparing for a volatile situation. With some settler leaders warning of civil strife, the army has been ordered to work out a plan to disarm settlers in enclaves slated for removal.

6. A PR tool so effective, even al-Ha'aretz could not ignore it
There is a new product in the anti-disengagement line, joining T-shirts and orange rubber bracelets. The latest item to be produced by the anti-pullout movement headquarters is a national flag with an orange ribbon. Yesterday and Tuesday, activists at the headquarters in Neveh Dekalim were hard at work packaging 15,000 of the flags for distribution and sale throughout the country in time for Independence Day.
