"Indict or release"
The Israeli version of the KGB system, which is now being applied as a dagger to stab the anti-Deportation forces, has at long last come under MSM attack. In today's [2005_05_19] JPost, Evelyn Gordon writes under the title "Indict or release":
Administrative detention is a euphemism for imprisonment without trial. Detention orders can be issued for up to six months, and can be renewed indefinitely. A few detainees have even been held for years.
Theoretically, a detention order can be challenged in court, but in practice, detainees are unable to do so effectively, because administrative detentions are always based on classified evidence that is shown only to the court, not to the detainees or their lawyers...
The current GOI is causing Israel irreparable damage by using KGB methods; it is the duty of Israel's supporters to cry out to high heaven.
