Israel May Reinstate Hamas Pay to Play Program
If Arafat 2 doesn't get up off of his terror enabling behind soon to do something about the murderous fiends that pass for his citizens, we may start seeing car swarms in Gaza again.
Israeli officials threatened to step up hits on Hamas terrorists firing mortars and rockets at settlements, warning the Palestinian Authority that the cease-fire declared in February was on the brink of collapse.
A senior official in the Prime Minister's Office, speaking Thursday after Prime Minister Ariel Sharon met Defense Minister Shaul Mofaz and senior defense establishment officials, said Israel would not tolerate continued mortar and Kassam rocket fire.
In 48 hours, close to 60 mortar shells and four Kassam rockets were fired at settlements in Gaza and inside Israel. On Thursday night, the fourth Kassam rocket fired since Wednesday landed in the yard of a house in Sderot; no one was wounded but the house was damaged.
"Where the Palestinian Authority fails to discharge their responsibilities and stop terror attacks, we will feel free to do so," the official said. "High trajectory fire falls into this category." The official said that Sharon had repeatedly made clear that Israel would not disengage from Gaza under fire.
That's pretty much what it's about for the mujahideen. To assuage their wounded, Arab/Islamic adolescent pride, they desperately need to effect the appearance of forcing Israel out of the area.
The bottom line is that Israel cannot in conscience continue to let death rain down on its citizens unanswered. It's high time to defend them.

I think this piece by Patrick misses the point. The fact is that these attacks are all part of Sharon's forced disengagement. I cannot really see any difference between the Sharon Government forcing Jews to leave their homes in Gaza, allowing Hamas to take up residence in these homes, and these rocket terror attacks. This political tendency, a Jewish political tendency, has joined with the Hamas enemy. We are witnessing the Hunting Season once more but in infinitely more dangerous circumstances. And behind Sharon stands Bush, the US and EUArabia. Sharon has sold his soul and will never turn back.

Alas, I have a 3-inch binder full of "Israel warns", "Israel threatens", "Israel puts Abbas on notice", etc.
Israel is doing nothing because Sharon is neither Ben-Gurion nor Begin, and he is definitely no Jabotinsky.
The result is that terror and death rain down on Israel.
I weep for Israel.
