Muslim Sensibilities
New Photographs of Saddam in his underwear are apparently bothering numerous people.
The great fear, apparently is "offending Muslim sensibilities". The fact that he was a dictator and vicious murderer who was trying his best to emulate Hitler, seems to be irrelevant. Humiliation of such an individual seems to me to be entirely appropriate and a warning to other upcoming tinpot despots.
We in the West are so deeply concerned about the rule of law, rights of the individual etc. that we are going to be defeated by these primitives.
Muslims currently form approximately 20% of the world population. That means that 80% of the world is not Muslim.
How about the "sensibilities" of the rest of us? I am tired of my sensibilities being repeatedly offended by Muslims. I am sick of airport security having been imposed on me by Muslim actions (to an overwhelming extent). I am sick and tired of attacks being perpetrated on me because I am a non Muslim - such as Bali, Jakarta, including the embassy bombings and the Marriott hotel. We won't even start mentioning Iraq.
I am heartily offended by the Islamic attitude to Israel and the Jewish people in general. After all, who provided the rest of the monotheistic world with its norms and morals, and that includes the Muslims! Here we have a people whose mores and religion is stuck firmly in the 6th century presuming to impose their vicious ideology on the rest of us - that is 80% of the world! The Muslim agenda is openly world domination and conversion of the entire world to their idea of faith.
The Koran is not a book open to interpretation and discussion as is the Jewish and Christian bible. What is there written is to be accepted as is, no matter that there are many contradictions within that book.
It is high time that MY sensibilities were catered for by the Muslim community.
Incidentally, if one looks at the Christian religion, it is after all a Jewish religion. The Christ was a devout Jew from the date of his birth until his death, and in fact was only in Jerusalem to attend the temple for Passover. Thus, the remaining detail which apparently separates the Jewish religion from the Christian is one of human invention in the centuries after the fact.
