The media in the service of the enemy
The media in the service of the enemy
To the volumes of evidence that MSM has been working overtime on the enemy's behalf, I wish to add the following evidence.
AP (as in "Anti-American Press"), reports today [2005_05_20] about Saddam's undies as follow:
Pentagon Condemns Publishing Saddam Photos
The U.S. military condemned the publication Friday of photographs showing an imprisoned Saddam Hussein naked except for his white underwear, and ordered an investigation of how the pictures were leaked to a tabloid. Some Iraqis expressed anger, but President Bush said he did not think the images would incite further anti-American sentiment...
Regardless of any effect the images may have on Iraq's insurgency, they were certain to offend Arab sensibilities and heap more scorn on an American image already tarnished by the prisoner abuse scandal at Abu Ghraib prison and allegations by Newsweek, later retracted, about desecration of the Quran at the U.S. prison in Guantanamo Bay, Cuba...
Some Iraqis called the photos of Saddam the latest in a series of insults to Arabs and Muslims...
The object of these statements is to make us feel guilty, erode our self-confidence, and threaten us with the "anger of the Arab street" - all of which amount to serving the enemy.

You can't actually be this naive. Do you really believe the Pentagon and White House did not want these photos released to the media for whatever reason? Do you honestly believe they could have been "leaked" without the Pentagon's approval regardless of what they claim? Stop and realize the bush administration is actually manipulating the media and the rest of America. Do you really doubt that the koran story was a set-up to discredit Newsweek and the press in general for the purpose of scaring the media away from any critical analysis of this administration? After all the source was a government official. With things going bad in Iraq again the Bush administration desperately wants to supress media coverage.

Thank you for your comment, Laura.
I disagree with you on three accounts.
First, I referred to AP, not to Newsweek. I cited the AP statements that clearly intend to erode our self-confidence etc. You didn't notice that, because you had an agenda, and you were going to let me know about it whether or not it was relevant.
Second, the media have already discredited themself utterly - from Jayson Blair to Dan Rather. No more needs to be done in terms of set-ups and entrapments to prove MSM is an enemy agent. We only have to continue documenting.
Third, things are not going bad in Iraq, except in the mind of those who'd like to see the destruction of our self-confidence, which brings me back to point #1 above.
Correct me if I'm wrong, but if you were of age during the 1960's you were probably among those who supported the Vietcong against the US - right?
