50,000 expected at NY anti-pullout rally
Some 50,000 American Jews and Christians are expected to participate in an anti-disengagement rally and concert in New York City's Central Park on Sunday. The organizers are billing the event as the largest rally against the Israeli government by pro-Israel activists in the US since a similar demonstration against the Oslo Accords in 1993.
Media covering Sunday's rally will be given a tape of the keynote address of the anti-Oslo event, which was delivered by current Prime Minister Ariel Sharon.
The rally will follow New York's annual Israel Day parade, which attracts 1 million spectators and top American public officials. After the rally, National Religious Zionist Renewal Party MK Effi Eitam will fly with 100 Jewish, Christian and African American leaders to Israel to attend a demonstration in Gush Katif. The leaders will be asked to return with their congregations to Gush Katif in August to try to stop the evacuation.

PM aide: We will deal with illegal outposts after disengagement
Israel will deal with the evacuation of illegal settlement outposts after the implementation of the disengagement plan, Prime Minister Ariel Sharon's senior aide, Dov Weissglas, said Thursday.
Given the public mood in Israel, Weissglas said in a speech at Tel Aviv University, "Any attempt to evacuate illegal outposts could well present a very difficult test for us and the security forces."
He stressed that the United States would accept Israel's stance on the outposts, and said there was no misunderstanding between Washington and Jerusalem on the issue.

Police, IDF to hold final drill three weeks before pullout date
The police and Israel Defense Forces will hold a final joint exercise at the Tze'elim training base about three weeks before disengagement, police chief Moshe Karadi and Public Security Minister Gideon Ezra told the Knesset Foreign Affairs and Defense Committee yesterday.
Karadi said that 6,500 police will be allocated for the pullout, of which 18,000 will be deployed for the evacuation; 10,000 officers will carry on ordinary policing and 1,500 will serve as reserve evacuation forces.
Ezra warned that regular policing may suffer during the evacuation, and that the personnel shortage could make it necessary for policemen to evict women. In response, MK Uri Ariel said major rioting could result.
Karadi said the police has readied holding facilities at Ma'asiyahu Prison in Ramle and Dekel Prison in Be'er Sheva for settlers who disturb the peace.
