See note at article's end.

The orange background symbolizes my personal solidarity with the Jewish pioneers of Yesha.

1. White/blue Securitate gone "perverse"

From JPost:

Police petition to ban Ben-Gvir from Gaza

Right-wing activists holed up in a hotel in Gush Katif called the IDF restraining orders issued against protest ringleader Itamar Ben-Gvir "perverse."

Kach activist Ben-Gvir was arrested after he allegedly headed an illegal thirty-person demonstration in support of IDF refusenik Corporal Avi Bieber, who was disciplined for refusing to comply with military orders.

Protesters blocked roads and sprayed political graffiti.

The demonstrators refused to comply with police requests that they disperse.

Ben-Gvir was detained for questioning and then arrested. Police reported that he confessed to leading the demonstration but claimed to have been exercising his legal right.

The IDF Southern Command and OC Central Commander Yair Naveh issued orders distancing Ben-Gvir from Gaza Strip and prevented him entering Judea and Samaria.

Ben-Gvir was released to house arrest Tuesday evening. He plans to appeal.

2. White/blue Securitate gone silly

From JPost:

Orange-haired Knesset aide barred from plenum

A parliamentary aide in the Knesset was rebuked for dying his hair orange, the rallying color of those opposed to the Gaza Strip withdrawal.

Davidi Hermlin, assistant to Likud lawmaker Naomi Blumenthal, was turned away from the Knesset plenum Monday after arriving with his hair dyed orange. "I was looking for an emphatic way of expressing my opposition to the disengagement," he told reporters, adding that he planned to fight the ban...

Last month, Knesset guards confiscated orange scarves, brought to the Knesset as gifts by Indian legislators who were not aware of the newfound significance of orange on the Israeli political spectrum.

3. Support and solidarity

From JPost

Hundreds make way to Maoz Hayam hotel

Hundreds of pro-settler activists made their way to Maoz Hayam hotel in Gush Katif late Monday night, Army radio reported.

The activists were concerned that security forces had planned to raid the hotel.

4. Deportation officials resorting to lies

From Arutz 7:

Atzmona Residents: Bassi Cooperating With Media Because We Refuse to Cooperate

Residents of the town of Atzmona, in Gush Katif, say that the radio reports claiming they have agreed to move the community's dairy farm to the town of Be'er Tuvia are lies.

The residents say they have a letter from a few days ago from Disengagement Authority chief Yonatan Bassi asking them to cooperate with him, to which they did not respond.

"Bassi has despaired of receiving cooperation from the community, so he has instead decided to turn to the media for cooperation," residents said.

The local authority of Atzmona announced that they intend to continue to work and develop the community for many years to come.

5. The exploits of the white/blue Securitate

From Arutz 7:

Three Beit Gamliel Arrestees Tell of Physical Pressure Applied by Shabak

Three activists from Beit Gamliel arrested last week claim they were forced to sit on chairs for a week strait without the ability to stand up.

The three are suspected of planning to use ninjot - nails bent into a shape that can puncture tires - to puncture the tires of IDF vehicles participating in the Disengagement Plan or possibly as an alternative to burning tires in order to block roads.

The three were taken in for investigation by the Shabak (General Security Service) a week ago. The Shabak agents used various methods of applying pressure on the activists and kept their hands tied tightly behind their backs at all times. One of those arrested has filed a complaint against his investigators.

The information was passed on by one of those arrested to a family member during a court session on lengthening their detention Monday.

And in a separate report, Arutz 7 informs:

Extended Remand for Suspected Road-Blocker

Acting upon a Shin Bet Recommendation, a court extended the remand of Mordechai Harel, who was arrested two months ago for alleged road closure activities.

On May 3rd, three Shomron residents were taken into custody in Tel Aviv. Mordechai Harel, Elitzur Levinstein and Avraham Lefkowitz are suspected of playing a role in anti-disengagement road closure activities. Following their arrest they were transferred to an Ashkelon Shin Bet facility.

And in a third, related story, Arutz 7 reports as follows:

Yitzhar Resident Arrested by Shin Bet for Anti-Disengagement Activities

In what appears to be a growing paranoia among governmental agencies, another citizen has been arrested by the Shin Bet for alleged anti-disengagement activities.

Two days ago, Yitzhar resident Ephraim Ben-Shohat was taken into custody by GSS (General Security Service/Shin Bet) agents for his alleged part in defying the prime minister’s Gaza/Shomron Disengagement Plan.

6. And for a moment of levity:

From AP

Israelis Take Sides in Gaza Pullout Issue

Nayot Pachenik, a 23-year-old native of the Gush Katif bloc of settlements, tied an orange ribbon to her bouquet at her June 14 wedding, and she posed for one of her wedding pictures with the orange ribbon around her neck, tie-style.

"It was my way of expressing my commitment to the cause and allowed me to have some influence," said Pachenik, who now wears an orange ribbon tied to her headscarf.
