Even more democracy in Israel - Part II

Even more democracy in Israel - Part II

Continuing the Matar Saga, about which I reported yesterday on IsraPundit, JPost informs:

Matar indicted for insulting Bassi

Anti-disengagement activist Nadia Matar was indicted for insulting a public official on Thursday afternoon by the Jerusalem District Attorney's Office.

The indictment cited Matar's words: "But all of your declarations won't help, Yonatan. The truth is that you are a modern-day version of the Judenrat – in reality, a much worse version, because in the Holocaust, the Jewish leaders were forced to act by the Nazis and today it's very hard for us to judge them. Today, no one is standing with a gun to your head and forcing you to participate in the deportation of the Jews of Gush Katif and northern Samaria."

Matar responded to the indictment. She said "I am very glad that the Israeli government is making the mistake of its life which it will still regret. By filing an indictment against me, I am finally being given the opportunity to get a fair judgment against Sharon's and his accomplices' NEGA [withdrawal, eviction, and uprooting] plan, including Yonatan Bassi."

Amen.
