"He is like a bird rushing into a snare"

One of the prime victims of Abu Omri's Deportation Plot is Israel's democracy.

In an attempt to bulldoze his "boomerang" way, Abu Omri has generated an endless train of human rights violations, bringing out the worst the white/blue Stasi could muster.

Today, JPost reports on yet another aspect of Abu Omri's gross disregard for democracy. One should recall that when Abu Omri shoved the Deportation Plot down his cabinet's throat, it came with a rider concerning four phases with a pause to re-evaluate the results. Now, Abu Omri is reneging on this cabinet decision too:

Sharon wants quick rather than gradual pullout

The June 6, 2004 cabinet decision that approved the plan divided the settlements to be evacuated into four groups. The decision said the government would "convene periodically" to decide on whether to move forward with disengagement after each group was evacuated...

"Formally there is a government decision to carry out the withdrawal in four steps, with an assessment after each stage to determine whether to continue, depending on what develops," Finance Minister Binyamin Netanyahu said in an Israel Radio interview Monday...

Agriculture Minister Yisrael Katz, who, unlike Netanyahu, was one of seven ministers who voted against the plan in the cabinet, warned that abandoning the staggered approach would strengthen those who believe the disengagement was being carried out in an undemocratic manner.

As Abu Omri rushes to cede the Land of Israel to terrorists, I am reminded of the Old Testament passage, Proverbs 7:23: "He is like a bird rushing into a snare". I can hardly think of a description that would be more appropriate. Most lamentable is the fact that with the "bird", Israel as a whole will be rushing into the snare.

Also in this connection, see JPost article entitled, "Rivlin: Sharon is losing self-control".
