(IsraelNN.com) Opposition leader MK (Shinui) Tommy Lapid opposes a request from the Lev Yehudi Jewish Heart organization which is seeking a deferment for Sabbath observant soldiers from participating in the implementation of the disengagement plan.
Lapid stated that if such a request is honored, then non-observant soldiers should be exempt from protecting religious communities and so forth, leading to a major split within the military.
Lapid also called on authorities to arrest and prosecute leaders of Jewish Heart who continue to encourage soldiers and officers not to comply with disengagement orders."
