Could a coup be in Israel's futureTrackback PingsTrackBack URL for this entry: Comments
Shalom Ted, I'm impressed by the analysis and realism of Dr Gabriel Dekel. Can you post some public type biographical material on Dr Dekel? In the alternative, can you ask him to do this at IsraPundit? Kol tuv, Posted by: BobW on August 8, 2005 01:58 PM
Gabriel was formerly a high ranking officer in the IDF and his son currently in in the IDF. Gabriel is not a medical doctor. Posted by: Ted Belman on August 8, 2005 02:44 PM
Gabriel Dekel writes above: "Sharon position if he survives to lead the nation will be to direct the public impetus to strike back and manage an organised warfare against the enemy. If he fails he will be toppled down or ignored and numerous unorganised groups of Israelis will take initiative a-la Irgun style." This is a recipe for total disaster. Sharon has created an Atalena style situation and he has turned the Jewish state against his own Jewish people. Yet some people argue that this can be positive. Nobody has asked the question, the reason Sharon turns against the settlers is because he does not like the settlers, he comes from that Stalinist so-called secular wing which founded the Israeli state. There is a difference though to the Revisionists. The revisionists were not passivists and the secular state or establishment of the time could not walk right over them. Please do not overlook the role of the United States in all of this. Is the United States following a strategy which is deliberately creating a situation of chaos and if so why? Numerous unorganised groups, this is complete disaster. And make no mistake, Mr Sharon couldn't organise a pillow fight after this episode. It becomes more dangerous by the day.
