This was an easy solution. ALL OF JERUSALEM IS TO BE ISRAELI AND CHRISTION. No Palestinians need to apply. Posted by: Ed D on August 21, 2005 03:01 PM
Preface: I am a political pragmatist so claim ability to comment on this article from the holy city of Qom, Iran. What is the difference between "an interim solution" and a "permanent agreement" on Jerusalem? Isn't it somewhat sketchy to write "The Muslims sanctified Jerusalem..."? How? Israel did not conquer East Jerusalem. Israel liberated East Jerusalem. The Jewish cemeteries in East Jerusalem were not Muslim cemeteries in East Jerusalem. There is a good reason "Only 6,000 people, a small percentage of Jerusalem's Arab population, exercised the option of acquiring Israeli citizenship in addition to their status as Israeli residents.". The resident ID card gave them the benefits. The citizenship would have given them death by the barbarians. How would the "fabric of life" of East Jerusalem Palestinian [sic]residents be "seriously harmed after the completion of the fence."? Actually, it's the opposite. When the suicide mass murderers detonate their explosives belts, they also murder Arabs who are present within the burst radius. How can the "holy sites must be organized anew..."? Apparently the Israeli Left does not assign significance to the Mount of Olives. Here is the fatal flaw in this report:"subject to the agreement of both sides,..". The GOI does not represent major blocs of Jewish Israelis. The pending new Arab state does not either. Nothing is in the shadows. The public statements are very clear. This essay is best labeled "Pedantics". The author avoided mentioning the Arabs do not want a Jewish presence and will kill Jews if they do not leave the area. All the rest can be gleaned from Footnote 22 mentioning Abu Dis. No footnote mentioned Orient House. Only fools and sages make predictions. How does Shaul Arieli know what's planned for the old Atarot airport? Al Arish reentered the news recently as a possible Egyptian gunboat base, notwithstanding treaty clauses forbidding this. Atarot is not subject to the opinions of the author. Kol tuv, Posted by: BobW on August 22, 2005 01:25 AM Post a comment |
Toward a Final Settlement in Jerusalem
The Jaffa Cerntre for Strategic Studies
Redefinition rather than Partition
If you want to learn of the complexity of finding a solution to Jerusalem acceptable to both sides, this study is invaluable. It also includes the various proposals put forward in the past and many maps to illustrate the various lines and settlements
If you couldn't care less and want Israel to retain all of Jerusalem no matter what then proceed no further.
