Rot at heart of UN revealed as Annan hosts talks on reform

The U.N.-Touchables
John Bolton has a chance to be the Eliot Ness of Turtle Bay.
BY CLAUDIA ROSETT, Opinion Journal, WSJ Wednesday, August 24,
I heard the author, Pedro SanJuan, speak last Thursday night, about his upcoming book
“The UN Gang: A Memoir of Incompetence, Corruption, Espionage, Anti-Semitism and Islamic Extremism at the UN Secretariat”.
Needless to say, it was a revelation of what seemed inexplicable and what I have suspected, but haven’t been able to rationalize, about the pernicious and pervasive actions of this not so venerable institution, under its thin and saintly “humanitarian” veil (or rather shield).
Sadly, I am not so positive about Bolton’s capacity, willingness and state backing to effect any tangible changes. It is not surprising that the Volker investigation into the oil for food conflicts of interest and corruption is itself tainted by conflicts of interest, bearing in mind it was staffed and orchestrated by the UN and the $34mm price tag is being picked up by Koffi Annan/UN.,
