Record number of Christians come for Succot

Although the political climate in Israel deterred several of the usual events, the Christian Embassy's annual Feast of the Tabernacles celebration a record a 6,000 people from 72 countries to Israel over the Sukkot holiday.

The trip, which has taken place for over 20 years, allows Christian Embassies worldwide to organize groups and send representatives to Israel for a religious pilgrimage. It also brings in approximately $15 million to Israel.

Since the early 1980s, it has been a tradition for the president and prime minister of Israel to meet with the pilgrims. This year, however, neither of those figures met nor spoke with the visitors. Organizers for the event said they were surprised when many of Israelis political leaders declined to meet with the group.

Hey, non-Jewish friends of Israel! Not to worry!

I'm Jewish, live in Jerusalem and I would have no complaints if the above-mentioned Israeli pols didn't show up in my Succa. And that's been my opinion since way before this made the news.

Thanks for coming. Your encouragement is appreciated. Never forget the prophecy!

Is there a possibility that the political battle lines and political order of battle are not properly posted on the wall charts ?

The business world has their acid tests and the military world has their indicators and warnings (I&W).

Reinforcements usually get welcomed........WARMLY WELCOMED.

Can we for a few minutes stop cuting down trees and sharpen the ax? I have a hunch the political battle lines and the political order of battle convey falsified information.

I have an absolute belief that:

Our heritage has passed to aliens,
Our homes to strangers.
We have become orphans, fatherless;
Our mothers are like widows.
We must pay to drink our own water,
...
Lamentations 5:2

I have another absolute belief that alienating our most loyal friends is an indicator of Laminations' absolute reliability regarding indicators.

I'm sure no snub is intended. Israel's leadership is in a State of Crisis over a new cabinet, terror concerns and Iran - and I've read that even the foreign Minsiter Shalom has cancelled his appearance at the UN where there is to be a vote on a World Holocaust Day. I am sure that our Christian friends will always recognise that they will always be welcomed in Israel the birth place of our two faiths.

As a Christian who humbly recognises and respects his elder brothers as the Sons of the Promise they are ... it gratifies my heart to read the above responses. I empathise with the bitterness of the Jew for the record of my forefathers is abysmal and inexcusable. Given the horrendous apostasy that passed for a church from 300AD to 1940 or so it is a great wonder and a testament to G-d's faithfulness that in this this latter day recognition of our debt to Israel and Jews of the diaspora ever came about. At least by some.

I can even understand and excuse the bitterness of some Jews who suspect and disregard the professed love of the Evangelical Christian world. I can see why they might need a couple hundred years or so to see that we are indeed faithful.

I pray for strength and great faith for us all, both Christian and Jew in these days. America no longer has the national will to resist evil and our unbelieving politicians now believe they can lay down with the devil himself while setting Israel adrift like a rusted tramp freighter on the high seas. It is not going to get any better soon. It will get so much worse that Israel will be forced to entertain a compromise threatening its national soul. Though nations fall salvation comes to men. Though godless men trample the entire earth ... a remnant shall see G-d.

Scott, I say Omein(!) to what you have written. It is too true that centuries of abuse to the seed of Ya'akov, from persons obsessed with the false teaching of supercession (replacement theology), have given the Jews reason to doubt the sincerity of Christianity, in general. I praise G-d that I am seeing a remnant of the Church stepping forward, in unprecedented numbers, to embrace their Judaistic heritage and brethren. Whether these unbelieving leaders of Yisrael come forward to welcome lovers of their people, or not, is not really important. If you compare their unbelieving leaders to ours (U.S.), you simply find that politics and faith are too often incompatible. ShyGuy, a welcoming "hug" from Sharon would mean nothing to me, but a hug of welcome from one like yourself would bring me to tears of joy. It is with you and those like yourself, the people of G-d's heart, that I stand, and will stand. May bnei Yisrael know no more sorrow, and may they find and embrace every blessing of HaShem!

i truly believe the future wrath of our maker will be upon those who are against israel.
hey shyguy - and all israel - thanks for the invite! we very much enjoyed our (too-short) visit, and strongly believe all christians, as well as jews, should go.
