Oil profits, Saudis and helping their Palestinian "brethren".

Oil profits, Saudis and helping their Palestinian "brethren".

I came across this interesting tidbit on Ariel L. Beery's blog: Middle East and Morality. He also writes on Blogs of Zion.

It's nothing new: the Arab world has long defecated figuratively on the Palestinians while using every opportunity to blame Israel, but it's interesting to read the numbers, the breathtaking and mind-boggling scope of dollars involved.

In the United States, our politicians are demagoguing about Exxon and other oil companies' "obscene profits", but here is a bigger problem. Not Exxon, but the Saudis. And where does that money go? The bloated lifestyles of the Saudi royals and partly to fund Islamic jihaddism throughout the world. A drop in the proverbial oil barrel, if that much, goes to help the Palestinians' daily lives outside of buying them weaponry to kill Jews.

Does the United States or Europe really have to fork over large sums of monies, hundreds of millions of dollars, to sink into the pit of corruption and terrorism that is the PA and its "entities"? Why are we obligated in any way to do so? This shows the Saudis et al could easily make life tolerable for the Palestinians. But then, maybe some of them, some, might choose to lead lives of prosperity vs. making constant war on Israel, and that wouldn't advance the Wahabbi cause were it to pass.

From Ariel:

Solidarity

Arnaud De Borchgrave brings up a very interesting point in UPI:

With oil at $60 a barrel, Saudi Arabia is now raking in some $500 million each and every day of the year, which adds up to $182 billion a year. Tiny Abu Dhabi is approaching $200 million a day. The six Gulf Cooperation Council countries will make $300 billion this year from their oil exports.

If Arab oil producers would just kick in a day or two of their oil royalties to bail out their Palestinian brethren, Gaza could be rebuilt into a modern city-state.

They could help by stopping to support the terroist organizations such as Hamas, too.

Shalom Maurice,

Exactly on point.

An additional number; Saudi Arabia has to invest 16 Billion US dollars of oil revenue every hour - nearly 400 Million a day.
