Sharon: The Tiger is Smiling

Sharon: The Tiger is Smiling

by Ami Isseroff, MideastWeb Middle East Web Log

Ms Isseroff is Executive Secretary of MidEastWeb for Coexistence, and editor of PeaceWatch. Yet her article is spot on.

It concludes as follows,

Both sides are publicly committed to the roadmap and the final solutions, and the muezzins of each side proclaim the true faith each day from the minarets of their mosques. They are committed in principle, but everyone must see the reality. They proclaim that they worship the Roadmap god, but Sharon is unwilling to dismantle settlements, and Abbas is unwilling or unable to disarm the Hamas and make order. The lord of the final settlement is a jealous god. He cannot coexist with settlement expanion, armed genocidal groups, proposals to overrun Israel with Palestinian refugees, chaos in Gaza and insistence on further occupation. Yet both sides want to have their golden calves too. Peace negotiations in these conditions are unrealistic.

I just took a quick surf through this web site. To me it looks like a disinformation program run out of North Tel Aviv.

Click on the site's "countries". Under "Israel", there is "History of Israel and Palestine". Now, glance at the entry for "Moracco". Note the absence of any mention of Morocco's military occupation of the Saharawi Arab Republic [old Spanish Sahara]. Again, only took a quick skim through the site; wonder if Cyprus shows the 2 British SOVEREIGN Base areas along with the Green Line split.

I clicked on something and learned that the Israel Security Fence is also know as "Apartheid Wall".

In the initial general time line, the June 96 entry has Nethanyahu identified as "Right Wing". Shimon Peres and Yitzhak Rabin are not identified as to positions on the political spectrum. Is this a good site?

On the time line, re the entry for Oct 98 - Is Israel confining "POLITICAL PRISONERS" ?? The term "political prisoner" has a clearly defined meaning. The site is loaded with material hostile to Jewish Israel.

Re entries on the detailed time line - again, I just glanced at this;

Re 1291 - The Crusaders were evicted from where ?

Re April 48 - What is a DISSIDENT underground group? I always considered the Jewish Agency to be the dissident group.

Re 13 May 48 - After a surrender, aren't subsequent homicides deemed murders ?!

Did not realize General Glubb tried to save synogogues in eastern Jerusalem (28 May 48 entry). Glad I no longer gamble or else I'd be in the minus numbers as far as gambling proceeds goes.

The 23 June 48 entry needs major rehabilitation - a complete rewriting - unless labeled "fiction".

Happy to learn of Count Bernadotte's assistance to Jews during WWII. (17 Sep 48 entry).

Re 23 Jul 52 - how much toning down did Nasser seek ?

The website very clearly avoids the reasons Cairo sought Moscow's funding for the Aswan High Dam. Egypt was an enemy of the US and the West.

The 30 July 05 (Gaza expulsion) is not settled material. Much is in dispute and open to interpretation as of now.

Note that the masthead of the site has some Hebrew.

the defectors who had gone over to the King of Babylon
II Kings 25:11
