Should such people be awarded with a sovereign State ?

Should such people be awarded with a sovereign State ?

Dear Mr. President;

Unfortunately peace between the Arabs and Israel is no closer today than six months ago before the expulsion of the Jews from Gaza. Reports from Arab ruled Gaza indicate that anarchy prevails in the territory.

Fatah gangs, belonging to the party of Palestinian Arab Authority leader Abbas, are running rampant in Gaza. Al-Azhar University in Gaza City has been shut down after gunmen belonging to the ruling Fatah party beat the institution's president and some of his aides.

The attack took place on Wednesday when some 20 gunmen stormed the offices of university president Dr. Adnan al-Khaldi and forced him to flee after assaulting him.

This attack was not the first of its kind on the university. Earlier this year another Fatah group stormed the campus and threatened to lynch the university president, who managed to escape unharmed.

The attack coincided with a report published by the Palestinian Arab Authority showing that the armed wing of Abbas's Fatah, Aksa Martyrs Brigades, was largely responsible for the continued state of lawlessness and anarchy.

Figures released showed that Fatah gunmen were involved last August in 20 incidents of lawlessness, while Hamas came in second with only 18 violations. The number of Palestinians killed in domestic violence since the beginning of the year was higher than those
killed by the IDF, the figures showed.

If Abbas cannot control his own party how can we trust him to make peace?

In another sign of growing lawlessness, a Palestinian man was killed and two others injured in armed clashes between rival Fatah gangs in the town of Kabatya near Jenin.

The victim was identified as Ala Sabaneh, a policeman who was wanted by Israel for his role in terror activities. Residents said the gunmen were local members of rival factions of the Aksa Martyrs Brigades

Supporting a Palestinian Arab state is support for anarchy in the Middle East.

There is no rule of law and no support for the present regime. To continue your support for another Palestinian Arab state is to allow the world terrorists, Al Qaeda, Hezbollah, the Iranian autocracy and others a place of refuge.

I urge you to end the folly of supporting Palestinian Arab autonomy.

A PA Authority that for years and still today actively promotes hatred of the United States among its people..

An Authority that actively calls The US: .... bloodsuckers and barbaric culture, will disappear from history - History will forget the United States, but will remember Iraq and Palestine.....

A Palestinian Legislative Council, that openly condemns America and rioters burn regularly the US flag.

Mr. President;
Is this A People That should be let loose on society ?
Should such people be awarded with a sovereign State ?
Would by that measure of U.S determination of Statehood, al-Qaida qualify next for a State of their own ? [Actually they may right now]

Is it American determination that it doesn't matter that al-Qaida is actually taking already THEIR State right under the nose of Your administration Sir, right in the middle of Gaza !

Respectfully yours,

Ms. G. Goldwater

This is not the first time Ms. Goldwater stood tall and confronted the President. Her remarks are nothing short of honest and courageous and she should be applauded.

"Should such people be awarded with a sovereign State ?"

They should neither be 'awarded' or *rewarded.* In the case of the Palestinians, it is both. However as Mr. Bush and others will soon begin to understand that democracy must be 'earned' not given on a silver platter. For this test will fail. One of the basic tenants of democracy is sacrifice not to others but to oneself. For this the Palestinian leadership and their people have failed the test other people in other nations through history have had to complete. Most certainly there can not be one shortcut on the road to a sovereign state and to true democracy. Yet we witness with our very eyes a yearning by the President and his quartet to give sovereignty and democracy without the Palestinians doing one thing to earn it. Sadly, all the yearning comes from outside Palestinian society not inside where it belongs.

This for the Saudi's. This for going to war in Iraq. This to appease Europe. This to keep the wolves at bay from chewing at the heels of Bush himself. Once again we see Israel being sacrificed for the 'bigger picture.'

In the beginning Bush was truly pro-Israel or at least I thought so. As the war continued almost everything he said about Israel melted away. Was he just a wolf in sheep's clothing all along? Only history will divulge this secret.

I know one thing and that is Bush is looking more like Carter and his father than ever before.

Thanks Ms. Goldwater for your honesty. It is refreshing to see such candid writing rather than the spin and rationalizations.

Here's my endorsement to Chen's positive comments on Gabriel's letter to B43.

SIDEBAR: Carter was a President during the Cold War. B41 and B43 serve(d) during the War On Some Terrorism. An exact comparison cannot be made. But it doesn't matter.

Bush committed himself publicly to the creation of a Palestinian State and a coalition of bodies that included the UN,EU,Russia and the USA united to create the Road Map to apply pressure on Israel to achieve this and gited to the Palestinans billions of dollars to assist them. Barak was prepared to sacrifice every thing including the Old City for worthless assurances. Sharon could not have done better than to create the Palestinian State in Gaza to prove to the World that we are dealing with a bunch of terrorists with no desire for peace who are in a perpetual state of anarchy to thwart any further concessions by Israel being coerced.
