Speaking of d'Himmitude

Speaking of d'Himmitude

By Marc Schulman, American Future

From Harry’s Place:

In Britain, the Dudley Council has ordered the removal of piggy banks and all other porcine effigies after complaints:

Workers in the council’s benefits department have been told to remove or cover up all pig products including toys, porcelain, calendars and even a tissue box featuring Winnie the Pooh and Piglet.

It comes after a Muslim worker said they were offended by pig-shaped stress relievers delivered to the authority.

I wonder whether Porky Pig is next. If a Jew objected, would ham and bacon be removed from supermarkets? When will this end? Will it end?

Shocked? Hardly?

Of course it will never end; only increase.
The great Mel Brooks can't get his newest movie in theaters because it deals with laughter in the Middle East (oxymoron).

Head coverings in Driver's License photos in Florida...it all runs together. Coming from the anti-Israel/anti-US UK is not surprising. Is Cherie Blair involved.

This report out of Britain that the Dudley Council has ordered the removal of piggy banks and all other porcine effigies after complaints by a Muslim employee that he found it offensive, is not that significant taken by itself.

Add this one incident to numerous reports of Muslim complaints and demands inducing Western governments or institutions to accede to Muslim sensitivities and you can see a pattern emerging.

To just cite a few examples.

In Britain, Muslims demanded that government do away with Holocaust day and roll it into Genocide day. The government has refused to do so, but is considering a new memorial day for victims of genocide. What the Muslims have referred to as genocide impacting Muslims makes a mockery of the word geneocide.

In Canada, Muslims complained to CIBC about a brief sentence in a lengthy report by CIBC's chief economist, Jeff Rubin that the complaint said was anti-Muslim. To be fair, no Westerner found the comment offensive or inaccurate and even those who conceded, it might have been a bit offensive to the most sensitive of eyes, it was not something to make an issue of. The CIBC however not only apologized, but sent Mr. Rubin for Sensitivity Training.

In Ontario just last month, Premier McGuinty wrestled with whether to allow Muslims to have panels to arbitrate family disputes between Muslim spouses which panel's decision would have the force of law, such as were the rights given the Jewish and Christian communities. Faced with Muslim demands for equal rights to Jews and Christians and Muslim women who protested the giving of such rights, which protests only affirmed in spades that women are discriminated against in Muslim communities, McGuinty dodged the controversy by outlawing any such rights and took away the rights of the Christian and Jewish communities.

Both in Canada and the U.S. there are very aggressive Muslim organizations such as CAIR in the U.S. that bristles at anything they think offends Muslim sensitivities and sensibilities as they define it. These organizations have through complaints, threats of law suits and law suits tempered, if not stifled altogether honest debate about issues involving radical Islam, the aid and comfort to radical Islam that the silence of moderate Muslims provide as well as the significance of the U.S. and Britain finding radical Islamist wolves trying to hide their true identities in the sheep's clothing of so called Moderate Islam.

These organizations by their aggressive techniques have, if not stifled such debate and intimidated into silence those who would engage in critical anaylysis of such issues.

In each of these instances and many more, it is apparent that Western Muslims are impacting more and more on Western societies as Western societies in the spirit of understanding and tolerance change their attitudes, perceptions and sense of what is permissable and what is not, just to accomodate Muslim demands and complaints that they have been offended. Western governments and institutions do so by either acquiescing and doing penance or changing policies and perceptions in order to mollify Muslims, supposedly angered by alleged insensitivity or to avoid as best they can being similarly criticised by Muslims in future.

Many call these knee jerk accomodations to what often can only be knee jerk (and frivolous) Muslim complaints of having been offended, not just accommodation, but appeasement.

The word appeasement when it comes to the West's response to radical Islam and to responding to so called moderatate Muslims' complaints and criticisms on the home front, has deservedly earned all the negative connotations that have come to be associated with that word.

Bill,

As the Brits would say, your analysis is spot-on. Indeed, the ghost of Neville Chamberlain is alive and with us. In addition to appeasing, we're unilaterally disarming. We realize what's going on because, as Jews, we're especially aware. Some Christians are aware, but how large a percentage? I keep asking myself what it will take for there to be a general awakening to the insidious erosion of our way of life in the name of multiculturalism. But I don't have an answer.

If I said that I find muslim employees offensive for murdering Jews would they remove them too? Good trade-off!

You have described the problem well but you left out the damage these apologists for radical Islam (CAIR)do to free speech. Anyone who speaks the truth about the real nature of Islam is shut up by intimidation or law suits. As we know, free speech is the right to have offensive speech, but the Arab's will have none of it. Its like Big Brother is watching you as in Orwell's "1984". Also, free speech allows us to say untruths in addition to truths. Our courts didn't not want to be the artiters of what is truth nor to be the censures of untruths. Though there are constraints in the law of slander and libel. What you say when it comes to a person or persons reputation must be true or you must have an honest belief that it was true. That aside, the arabs are stiffling true speech too on the grounds that it might offend. One more note, Candian courts in an effort to prevent holocaust denial removed the need to prove the holocaust took place, by taking judicial notice of it so that proof was no longer necessary. They determined it to be fact.

One more thing. Ther Arabs are having their cake and eating it to. On the one hand, they say anything they want about us, Jews in particular, with impunity though they are truely slanderous, while at the same time prevent us from criticising Islam for what it is or what is done in its name.

Last winter Christian Aid charity shops were directed not to put up Christmas decorations for fear of offending muslim shoppers, then we have had the proposal from the MCB to abolish Holocaust Memorial Day as it is offensive to Muslims.Has political correctness gone mad in Blair's Britain!
