Re "Many of its [ISM's] organizational layers actively aid American enemies by raising funds to be sent overseas."; the USA Patriot Act now addresses this. I anticipate ISM will be lumped together with the Earth First crowd and prosecuted under the anti-terrorism laws. My guess in the delay (The US already successfully tested the Patriot Act and public opinion was favorable)is that the professors & Co. are also to be lumped in. Although Lee Kaplan has my support, some specifics he writes about can't be relied on. America's tax agency, IRS (like Inland Revenue in UK), does not really have a strict rule for charitable groups and tax policy (other than on paper). The best and most famous example is the Rev Je$$e Jack$on's "charities". Even the black gossip columnists complained about the racket - eg Reverend Jack$on's daughter born out of wedlock is supported by a tax exempt charity. I believe this is a key reason the US will not immediately close down ISM and affiliates. The US does not want another dangerous confrontation with blacks (See "Operation Garden Plot"; US riots and riot control were worse than in France after withdrawal from Algeria). The article mentions ISM's website saying:"participating in nonviolent demonstrations" and "confronting tanks". QUESTION: Are people admitted into Israel on a tourist visa allowed to participate in political demonstrations? Is blocking a tank NOT a felony in Israel? It doesn't matter what some ISM members tell the Immigration Officer at DBG airport - or other entry points - . The full information, to include membership rosters and supporters and sympatherizers, is available to GOI. My recommendation is not to rely on the signed agreements re the "US State Department...required non-governmental charaties in the Palestinian Authority to sign agreements...". I don't mean to be rude but the barbarians in the PLO's successor in a Saville Row suit aren't known for honor within the sense of the term as used in the US (less the State Department). It's a great article but the one weakness I noticed can easily be corrected and Lee Kaplan will surely support this. Instead of emails to IRS and writing to IRS and the Department of Homeland Security,.. 1. print out this excellent article. Kol tuv, Posted by: BobW on October 25, 2005 03:47 AM Post a comment |
Terror Funding in America?
By Lee Kaplan (NIN):
The International Solidarity Movement (ISM) continues its destructive agenda of aiding Palestinian terror against Israel. Prosecuting its agenda by recruiting international volunteers, mostly radical students from the United States, Canada, and Europe, it dispatches them to Israel under the guise of "nonviolent peace activists." Posing as agents of charitable goodwill, these radicals then interfere with the Israeli army’s anti-terrorist operations.
