Why is the Church in bed with the Devil

Why is the Church in bed with the Devil

Ted Belman

The devil in this case is the Sabeel Ecumenical Liberation Theology Center which is an NGO, founded in 1989 and directed by Naim Ateek, former Canon of St. George's Cathedral in Jerusalem. Sabeel describes itself as "an ecumenical grassroots liberation theology movement among Palestinian Christians", which "hopes to connect the true meaning of Christian faith with the daily lives of all those who suffer under occupation, violence, discrimination, and human rights violations" and " encourages Christians from around the world to work for justice and to stand in solidarity with the Palestinian people.

To achieve these laudable goals, Sabeel demonizes Israel and whitewashes the Palestinians. In so doing it uses classical antisemitic theological themes while ignoring Palestinian terrorism, corruption, lawlessness and oppression of Christians.

The World Council of Churches, WCC, is aiding this hateful endeavor by hosting their conference at several liberal denominational churches in Toronto.

In slavish adherence to the biased and anti-Semitic view of Sabeel, the WCC has supported economic divestment by church endowments from companies doing business with the Jewish state of Israel for what it considers “morally justifiable” reasons. Such initiative is no more “morally justified” then attacking Israel as the root of all evil and ignoring the oppression by Arabs in general and Palestinians in particular of their fellow Christians.

KAIROS, Canadian Ecumenical Justice Initiatives, funded in part by Canada, unites churches and religious organizations in a faithful ecumenical response to the call to "do justice, and to love kindness and to walk humbly with your God" according to its own literature.

It partners with Sabeel which, it writes,

“strives to develop a spirituality based on justice, peace, nonviolence, liberation and reconciliation for the different national and faith communities. Sabeel also works to promote a more accurate international awareness regarding the identity, presence, and witness of Palestinian Christians.”

Little wonder then that well meaning liberal Christians fall prey to these nice sounding words which unfortunately, obscure a hateful reality.

KAIROS holds

“The State of Israel was established in 1948 on 78% of historic Palestine leading to the displacement of most of its Palestinian inhabitants who became refugees. Since 1967, Israel has occupied the Palestinian territories – the West Bank including East Jerusalem and the Gaza Strip. This area constitutes approximately 22% of historic Palestine and has a population of almost four million people. During this period, Israel has consistently refused to implement United Nations Resolutions and International Law. Israel stands in violation of over 60 UN resolutions and has been protected by a United States veto over 30 times.”

This is such a biased and inaccurate view of the facts that it would be laughable were it not so dangerous and misleading. Suffice it to say that in 1948, Palestine as it was then known, was held on trust by UN mandate for the “close settlement of the Jewish people”. This mandate originally included Jordan.

When Israel declared itself pursuant to the UN General Assembly resolution, eight Arab countries attacked it. Israel managed to defeat them and armistice lines were agreed upon. In 1967, these same Arab countries massed for attack, which itself was an act of war, and Israel’s response lead to their resounding defeat and in the occupation of what was then referred to by the UN as the “territories”.

KAIROS ignores these Arab wars of aggression and puts forward a false notion that “historic Palestine” is connected to the “Palestinians” and that historically these lands are “Palestinian territories”. Judea, renamed “Palestine” by the Romans after the destruction of the Jewish Temple two thousand years ago, was occupied by both Jews and Arabs, throughout the period of the UN Mandate. The name “Palestine” related to the Philistines of old and not the “Palestinians” of new. The notion that there was a Palestinian people did not come into being until after 1967 even among the Arabs.

As for UN Resolutions and International Law which it alleges Israel refuses to implement, certain facts should be made known. The UN is a discredited organization that is a tool of the oil dominated Arab world which has a horrible record on human rights and is run by brutal dictators. Even so the resolutions of the General Assembly have the force of recommendations only and so do the resolutions of the Security Council unless passed under Chapter VII of the UN Charter. Israel is not in violation of any such resolutions.

If the notion of “international law” were so clear and Israel’s violation thereof so real it would have long been taken to court and convicted. But it isn’t on both counts. But this doesn’t stop the Arabs and their Christian friends from declaring them guilty before proven guilty.

When the liberal churches find common cause with the Palestinians and Arabs in general, they ignore the plight of Christians in Arab lands including the territories. They ignore that the Arabs have de-Christianized Bethlehem and desecrated the Church of the Nativity. They ignore that women and children are being blown up by the same people they support. They ignore the fact that the Arabs still want to destroy Israel. They ignore the slavery and killings of Christians by Arabs in Africa and elsewhere.

They must hate the Jews, more then they love their fellow Christians.

Ted, you posed a question with this posting. I think you got so wound up with answering your own quesiton that you did not realize you had. Your concluding pithy comment, a take off on Golda Meir, is not nearly as correct and insightful as your preceding comments and answers.

A better ending would be that they are Christian lambs that have lost their way or have been taken in by the devil they fear who has sent them down the road to hell that is paved with their good intentions.

No matter. The quesiton you raise is important and it is most important that Christians as themselves find their own answers to that question.

If they want or need our help to navigate the path to truth, made difficult by the obstacles of deception and signposts of misdirection along the way, they only have to call and I am confident we would jump at the chance to be their guides.

Well ... it all started at the Council of Nicea see. This guy named Eusebius (and another guy named Eusebius too) liked this other guy Arius and his philosophy. Well Arius was a nostic which means he had some really wierd dteas about diety that were completely antithetical to Christ's teachings and the Apostles instructions which they propounded throughout the first centurey. Anyway everybody knew this Arius guy was a heritic but Eusebius ... who was Constantine's right hand religious advisor really really liked his ideas and though he was out voted at the council of Nicea he spent the rest of his life, with Constantines clandestine help .... working the Ideas of Arius into the warp and woof of the new government/religion construct that he and Constantine cooked up. Well the rest is history even right up and through the Reformation where the reformers overthrew the political power of the church at Rome but kept most of the Arian heresy. So ... Christians remain to this day a gulible lot with a cancer at the root of their spititual cerebelum so to speak. They have a hard time recognizing the Devil when he sits right at their table.

It's called the great 'falling away' and we've been waiting for it ever since Paul the Apostle warned us it would come. I can tell you it is to be accompanied by a great End Time revival called the "Latter Rain" (not the BS 'latter rain' of the nearly apostate name-it-and-claim-it crowd) as prophesied by Joel, Hosea and Isiah 60: 1-5, . Yes there is to be a great polarizing within not just Christiandom but amoungst the Jews as well. Sure looks like it is ramping up to me.

Honourable Aileen Carroll, Minister of International Cooperation
Honourable Pierre Pettigrew, Minister of Foreign Affairs

Dear Honourable Ministers;

This weekend in Toronto a conference is taking place, organized by Canadian Friends of SABEEL, and targeting churches, church related organizations and non-governmental organizations. Recognizing Canada’s commitment to freedom of speech I have been made aware however, of concerns about their intentions for this conference. Their stated aim is to “explore the emerging non-violent economic strategies to achieve this end [a just peace in Israel-Palestine] (including shareholder initiatives, partial divestment and boycotts.)”

SABEEL has been criticized broadly for their indifference to the security concerns of Israel and for their uncritical support of the Palestinian cause.

One of the supporting co-sponsors of the conference is an organization known as KAIROS: Canadian Ecumenical Justice Initiatives. It is my understanding that KAIROS has received significant funding from CIDA. If this is indeed fact please advise the government’s rational for giving their support to only one side of the Middle East dispute and what initiatives are being undertaken to ensure an equitable representation of the situation is achieved.

I do not think that Canadians would be supportive of their tax dollars(through CIDA) being used to finance a campaign urging disinvestment in Israel. Please advise me of what steps the government will be taking immediately to stop the taxpayer funding of groups lobbying for Israel's disinvestment.

Read the Bible, since the first century there have always been two groups of "Christians",
God's and Satans's. Unfortunately Satan's do not call themselves by his name,
however it shoud not be too difficult to figure out who they are.

For the last 2000 years since Christianity spread from Israel to the nations it has gone through transformations. The first major transformation was when the Emperor of Rome converted and made it a state religion about 325CE. Actually it was Christianity that was converted, or rather perverted. Instead of Christians being tortured, killed, and feed to lions, the new "Christian" state started doing the killing. For the first three centuries of Christianity there are no records of Christians commiting murder. But when Rome became a "church state" it became one of the most powerful and oppressive forces on earth. Christianity was adopted as a political power rather than a faith.
So how did this happen seeing the scriptures taught to do the opposite and to love your enemies instead of killing them? (note: If you tried love and they still come as suicide bombers, it’s OK to kill them)
It happened because people were not allowed to read the scriptures or to possess them, that's how and so the church leaders maligned the Jews and misrepresented the Bible.
What really changed things fast was the invention of the printing press at about the same time as scriptures were being translated into different languages and people began to see the positive picture of the Jewish people.
This new knowledge made it important to seek the original sources of scripture to be able to grasp Christianity in it's original state before being shaped for hundreds of years by foreign and alien teachings and beliefs, including recent speculations that have resulted in a number of si-fi endtime scenarios.
So it has been in transition from beginning as a non-violent Jewish "sect", to a bloody Roman religion, and since the reformation has slowly began return to the beginning. That is why Jewish Christian relations have improved. It is therefore essential that Christians study Jewish history and religion. If they don't they end up with a Roman type of "Westernized Christianity".
